Bending+Training Log

Did this sporadically, was really tired from yesterday from the heslep style bends, I find them really taxing.

This took a lot of grit.

I think with enough grit I can do the 60D rolled up in a single 1/3 pad heslep style too.

I'm trying out here man lol, work and stressing over the kiddo arriving has been keeping me busy, but more training soon. I'll likely do a armwrestling session tomorrow and write about it here.

5"x1/4" Stainless Square from FBBC stock 15 years ago

Got sent to me from Tim Butler, a grip legend.

Took about 3 minutes in doubles. Happy with this result.

60D reverse unbraced snap. Took about 4 minutes, it kept forming an "S" which made it very difficult

Hard work day, worked about 14 hours, no food, then just did this. Took an extreme amount of grit.

140lbs inch trainer 3x5 inspired by @matek

Shiny bastard ironmind pads touching no rubber bands (took ~2 min). I've tried and failed this type of bend before. Was happy to get it.

Thanks Joe, I bet Boston would be a blast for me, might consider that a vacay spot one day.

In regards to rep work, I mostly do a bunch of singles and build to a single hard top set of 3-5.  But I don't really train the inch trainer much (which I've mentioned before in previous posts) so today's 3x5 was more or less to form and familiarity gains. I know some guys like to do 10x10 with some grip equipment (which blows my mind, I'll never do 10x10 anything).

Yeah its pretty fun. I like it more for the history  and food than anything else.

I have had really look luck with the 1-3 range. I will say some i'd to try something high volume, but not 10x10.

*edit* and i'm not critiquing you but I did this too. Try to have no contact with the weight plates when lifting them.  What I do is start with the lighter plates first and have the heavier ones on the outside.  Keeps it further from my forearms.

That is a great point! I'll take note. I'm glad to see ways to make my lifts more legitimate.

Glad I can help.

I feel funny giving advice to people stronger than me. But i've been training for the inch for over a year now with Jedd as my coach and i've really learned a lot.

I'll take what I can get, I don't have any coaching, and I'm sure I have plenty more to learn to make some things optimal.

I suggest Microgainz plates or something like them... .25lbs-1lbs a week adds up

Also just be as consistent as you can. Find a stance that works, body positioning and everything. It can be very frustrating at times but I also have loved the journey and look forward to every workout.

Got like 2 hours of sleep last night, worked extremely hard today, but mustered up the courage for some bends after a pint of whiskey.

Haven't done any DU in months, but felt happy with today's work.

Single Leathers (less than 1" gap for all of them) all one hit:

1x 60d

2x 1/4"x6" drill rod from ECGB

2x 1/4"x6" "U" grade 5 bolt

1x 1/4"x5.5 "JH" grade 5 bolt

1x 1/4"x5" "NDF" grade 5 bolt

1x 1/4x6" "JH" grade 8 bolt

1x timber tie heslep style snap (14 seconds post workout).

Videos in order:

1/4"x5" grade :

1/4"x6" JH grade 8:

Timber tie snap:

I got a little bold today, and tried another DU bend.

4.5"x1/4" stainless hex DU single leathers touching no rubber bands. One hit then quit 😕

I think next time I am fresh, I can get one. I'm still super beat from yesterday's stuff, so I'm not too upset.

Nice DU bends, London! And 4.5" is a very mean length to bend.
