Best of luck with it. Me, I'm gonna give it a few more days before I do another bench workout. I got the deep tissue and tendon soreness throughout all of the relative areas from the comp over the weekend. Feels kinda neat. - Aaron

The Natural
the grip comp vacation messed up my normal workout scheule, so today i used that as an excuse to rep out on two plates (bench). 225x20. 3 rep PR from last year. -Rex

RPGoodfellow
Some points of interest from last night's workout: Flat Bench -Bar X 15 -135 X 10 -185 X 5 -225 X 5 -275 X 5 -315 X 5 Incline Dumbbells -110's X 5 -110's X 2 -110's X 1 Standing 1-Arm Shoulder Press (L/R) -85 X 5 -85 X 5 -85 X 5 First workout in 2 weeks - my joints needed a break. I'm trying a new workout: Upper/Lower split style. I'll post the rest of the details in my blog. I felt very strong on the bench; but, wanted to save myself for the rest of the workout. 315 felt light; but, I knew I'd be spent if I went higher. I only got through 90% of it...it's going to be tough. It made my 2 week break feel like a 2 month break. My muscular endurance (which hasn't been good in years) is in the shitter, so I'll need to work on bringing that back up. Hence the silly drop in the incline dumbbells. HAHA! I was literally laughing at myself in the gym as I was attempting those.

Guest Bullitt
Week 2, Thursday workout of Sorin Benchpress plan: Best bench workout I have had yet. Feeling comfortable with new grip, and starting to get leg drive down. Felt like I could have done a big max today, but I resisted the temptation and stuck exactly to the plan. The bar was literally flying off my chest, especially when I hit the leg drive just right (much more often). All reps were full range, paused reps (min 1 second) with an explosive press and I used a foam pillow to train the arch. Full Sorin workout on my log. Bench: Warmup: barX20 95X10 135X5 155X1 185X1 205X1 215X1 Work sets: 245X1 205X4 (Both of these sets flew up and I actually took a longer pause than normal). Incline Press (about 30% incline with paused/explosive reps): 175X4X6 I think I might have come close to 290 or 300 today had i gone for a max. It was tough to not go for it, but I'm gonna stick to the plan. So far it is working great. Richard's coaching tips are spot on. I'm not sure how he can suggest the right thing over and over without ever seeing me bench. Good stuff.

acorn
Good stuff everyone! I was gonna bench yesterday or today but I think I'm gonna wait till Sunday now. Went to the Osteopath yesterday to get some work on my back done and it sounded like Gallegher smashing a big pile of celery with a mallet in there. Needless to say everything from my skull to balloon knot is in a different position and it was recommended to not train for 3 days. - Aaron

Guest Bullitt
Speaking as someone who has been cut on twice for a bad back, do what they say. Take a break and come back stronger. I'm good at giving this advice but horrible at taking it. Hence the two back surgeries, 7 dislocated shoulders, not to mention the numerous broken noses because i hated wearing a cage and led with my face a lot.
