unequipped
... when i was young (40 years), 235 kg and 227,5kg (500 lbs) in competition - raw of course. after some injuries, two years ago, I tried to start my "second carrier". last year - now 55 years - 220 kg and 210 kg in a competition. now i am suffering a bad backinjury (lws), so i have to stop rolling thunder, apollons axle. so will try to start a "third-old-man-benchpress-carrier". right now (last week) 180 kg. hope, i will reach the "magic 200 kg" in competition end of the year. good luck for you. 400 lbs is a very nice (elite) result for a strong bencher by the way, 41 years is not old. only important, that you are in a good health. thewicked
c'mon rex..with your size, overall power, and strength, there's no reason if you worked on your technique that you could easily press over 4 and surpass me on the pressing.

Guest Bullitt
Great workout with a hiccup. Sorin week 7 singles day. Full workout on my log. Lots of PRs today. Richard had me experiment with a heavy partial right before my max single today. I think I must have done something wrong because it seemed to mess me up more than help me. I think I hurried too much. He told me I had 45 seconds to do my single after the partial which was 40lbs more than my max attempt for the day. I rushed right back on the bench after we stripped the weight and must not have gotten set right or didn't give my CNS time to recover. I think I was going again 20 seconds or so after racking the partial. Weight felt funny and i paused longer than normal at the bottom. I missed it and my great spotter (wife) had to help me. I got mad, waited 3 minutes and hit the weight for a paused single easy. Then went right on with the workout with no problems setting PRs in 4 rep bench, inclines, and rows. Bizarre. I need to take my time if I use this again. Here is the pressing portion of the workout. All reps paused: barX20 135X6 185X1 225X1 255X1 Work sets: 320 X 3" Partial followed immediately by... 280 X miss Waited 3 mins and... 280X1 paused PR 245X4 PR Incline press: 205 X 4X6reps PR

CoC#3
Today's benching workout - no sleep but joints etc.. are feeling slightly better. No shoulder pain on any of the sets. CLOSE GRIP BENCH 132x5 176x5 220x5 264x10 (2 rep pr) last rep was very very tough but didn't give up. 220x16 (2 rep pr) 220x10 paused (think possible a pr?) assistance work was axle shrugs, axle upright rows, tricep pushdowns. CoC#3
Thanks Mike - a PR is a PR though mate good work! Oh, smash that gripper tomorrow! Aaron nice session buddy - i hate benching when the uprights are too low i benched in the rack today and had to lift it off just 2'' to be at lockout and i had my mate spotting me aswell it makes all the difference for me. Where do you reckon you're at now then for a max? 350-360?

Where do you reckon you're at now then for a max? 350-360? Will do mate! I agree on the low pins. Mine are not adjustable and they are very low. My wife is my spotter (not complaining as she does a great job, but I try to take as much of the weight as possible on lift off). So basically I am doing an extra 1/2 rep every set. My bench is also pretty high off the ground. I think if I could get to a proper gym and get on a good powerlifting bench with the pins in the right place, I could add 5 or so lbs to my max. I was supposed to do 330 for the double today and 335 for the double next week but couldnt resist after the 295 felt so easy. Made a slight adjustment to groove technique that seemed to help some as well. Gotta go though I'm bonking pretty bad right now. - Aaron
