nockowt1
3/24 Grippers (all parallel set) -Tx1,1 -#1x1,1 -#2x1,1,1,1,1 -BBSAx1,1,1,1,1 -#1.5x1,1,1,1,1 -BBSMx0,0 -#2.5x0,0 -IMTUG5x2x5 (ring and pinky) -IMTUG5x2x10 (index and middle) Plate Pinch -40lbsx2 (4-10s) -50lbsx2 inches of air (5-10s) -60lbsx1 (2-25s, 2-5s, loading pin) -40lbsx2 (4-10s) index, middle, and thumb Hub Lift -45x2 -50x1 Sledge Levering -6lb hammer x 5 (front lever) I'm getting much better at parallel setting. I was about 1/4" away from closing the #2.5 and BBSM. I really need to get some better 10lb plates because they are all the skin off my fingers because they are so sharp. I was really pleased by how easily I was able to hub lift my 45s. I'm going to try 52.5lbs next workout. I'm suprised at how easy levering the 6lb hammer feels now (considering I couldn't fully lever it a month ago). I may get an 8lb hammer soon. Griparn
Nice training log! Can you no-set a #2? Good luck with the CCS #2.5 gripper!
nockowt1
Nice training log! Can you no-set a #2? Good luck with the CCS #2.5 gripper! Thanks. Yes I can TNS a #2 and hopefully I'll be able to say the same about the #2.5 sometime this year.
EricMilfeld
Your training is going really well, Kevin. I guess your injury was a minor one?
nockowt1
Your training is going really well, Kevin. I guess your injury was a minor one? My left elbow is still kinda screwed up so I won't be bending anytime soon. I'm just hoping that my left hand hasn't regressed too much. nockowt1
3/27 Grippers (parallel set) -Tx1,1 -#1x1,1 -#2.5x1 PR -BBSMx1 PR -#2x1,1,1 -#1.5x1,1,1,1,1 -BBSAx1,1,1,1,1 -IMTUG5x2x6 (ring and pinky) -IMTUG5x2x10 (middle and index) Plate Pinch -50lbs x 4" of air(5-10s) -70lbs x 2" of air (2-35s) Hub Lift -45, 50, 55 PR Sledge Levering -6lb hammer x 5 I wasn't playing around this workout. I think I've finally learned how to properly set a gripper. Something convinced me to try the #2.5. I almost couldn't believe it when I got the handles to touch. I guess I wasn't satisfied with that so I tried the BBSM and got those handles to touch also. When I get more consistent with closing both grippers I'll either get a #3 or start training my CCS closes again. I thought for a second that I would be able to fully deadlift my 10s, but it wasn't meant to be (tonight). Today was the first day I was able to get any air under the 35s. My hub lifting felt strong today. I might have to go for 57.5 next workout. Edited March 27, 2008 by nockowt1
bencrush
Very nice Kevin! Congrats on your first #2.5 and SM close!!! The #3 will come much easier now that you've figured out setting.
matthcarl
I might have missed it somewhere in you rlog, but what do you use for hub lifts? 55 lbs is pretty impressive!
Teemu I
Good job, learning to to set properly will bring faster gains on grippers.

nockowt1
Very nice Kevin! Congrats on your first #2.5 and SM close!!! The #3 will come much easier now that you've figured out setting. Thanks Ben. I'm hoping the #3 will be a little easier now. If I can avoid another stupid injury I may close the #3 before the end of the year. I might have missed it somewhere in you rlog, but what do you use for hub lifts? 55 lbs is pretty impressive! I used a 45 and 2-5s to do the hub lift. I can only hub lift about 40-45 on the IM hub. Good job, learning to to set properly will bring faster gains on grippers. I have learned a great deal from watching your videos Teemu. Congratulations with your coc#2.5 and Supermaster close! Keep up the great work! Thanks.

matthcarl
I used a 45 and 2-5s to do the hub lift. I can only hub lift about 40-45 on the IM hub. Thanks, just curious. As you may have seen, 47 (including pin+device) was the winning lift on the IM hub at the TPS meet, so I'd say you're doing OK
CoC#3
I think you will close the #3 pretty soon. Nice work with the hub aswell dude.
nockowt1
I was able to close my #2.5 and BBSM again today from a parallel set. I attempted my HG300 and I was about 1/2" from closing it. I'm thinking it will get closed in less than a month. Once I close the HG300 I'll make an attempt to close the #3.
nockowt1
3/30 Grippers (parallel set) -Tx1,1 -#1x1,1 -#2.5x2 -BBSMx1 -#2x1,1,1,1,1 -#1.5x5 -BBSA5 -IMTUG5x2x5 (ring and pinky) Plate Pinch -40lbs (4-10s) -50lbs (2-25s) -50lbs (5-10s) about 4" of air -50lbs (5-10s, loading pin) -60lbs (5-10s, 2-5s, loading pin) Hub Lift -45, 50, 50 Sledge Levering -6lb hammer x 5 (front and rear) I suprised myself by being able to rep the #2.5 twice. I'm actually starting to feel quite comfortable doing a parallel set. I purchased some more 10s with the hope of being able to fully lift 5 of them. The plates fit together better but they still don't fit. I decided to make some short term goals that I hope to accomplish by 1 May 08: -#2.5x5 (MMS) -BBSMx3 (MMS) -HG300x1 (MMS) -hub lift 55lbs consistently -pinch 5-10s
EricMilfeld
Those are some very good goals, Kevin. Yep, the plates being used are everything when it comes to five 10s. I was lifting the Blob easily while being unable to do five of my 10s because of the poor fit, but then I got ahold of some nice flat plates and they went up easily. nockowt1
4/2 Grippers (parallel set) -Tx1,1 -#1x1,1 -#1.5x1,1 -#2x1,1 -#2.5x2,1 -BBSMx1 -BBSAx10 I was hoping to get a #2.5 close on video but I think I broke my camcorder when I accidently knocked it off the tripod. Oh well. I almost got my #2.5 for 3 reps. I did every rep with a nice pause after the set and a 2 sec overcrush.

nockowt1
I wanted to get a #2.5 close on video, but the gripper didn't want to cooperate today. I decided to post the video anyway:
nockowt1
4/7 Grippers (parallel set) -Tx1,1 -#1x1,1 -#1.5x1,1 -#2x1,1 -#2.5x1,1 -BBSAx10 IM Hub -35x1 -40x1 Bending (DU) -3/16"x7 -3/16"x6 -3/16"x5" -1/4"x7" x 2 -1/4"x6" x 2 -1/4"x6" grade 5 bolt (triangle) -1/4"x5.5" grade 5 bolt -1/4"x5" grade 5 bolt -5/16"x6" grade 2 bolt (BL) x 0 For some reason my elbow didn't hurt too bad today so I decided to try some bending. Since I haven't bent in a while my wrists felt amazingly weak. I was still able to do some decent bends though. I'm hoping my elbow stops hurting completely so I can try bending again next week. I may bend a bastard this year after all.
