matek Posted June 6, 2023 Author Share Posted June 6, 2023 (edited) My upper chest is still pretty sore so I didn't do DU in doubles; no point. Only single leathers this week. one reverse -> one DU DU - single leathers - CRS 21/64" x 7" - 1 hit | 42 degrees - CRS 21/64" x 6.6" - 1 hit | 52 degrees - 3x C45 HEX 7mm x 7" - each 1 hit | 50, 44, 55 degrees - CRS 5/16" x 5" - 1 hit | 52 degrees Reverse - single leathers - Grade 8 bolt (490lb batch) 1/4" x 6" - 2 hits | 55 degrees - 3x CRS 5/16" x 7" - each 2 hits | 65, 63, 60 degrees Very off-center bends, meh. Blacksmith513 Posted June 6, 2023 Share Posted June 6, 2023 I’m liking the reverse-do/du-reverse myself. Allows the wrists to rest a little bit. Have you ever tried levering? I bet you’d be great. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Douglas Carney Posted June 8, 2023 Share Posted June 8, 2023 I haven't worked up to one good wide grip pullup without band assistance, so your weighted pullups always impress me. Awesome work! 2 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Awesome work! Thanks, Doug! Band assistance is a great way to build up power. If the goal is pullups, I think it's way better than lat pulldowns. I do heavy weighted pullups in a neutral hand position. My shoulders tend to hurt if I go heavy with regular wide-grip pullups. Also, I found it to be a great supplementary exercise to reverse bending, which is a big plus for me now. 2 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

When I've done them, it's typically been wide grip pullups with the bands or the occasional ugly chinup with like a 2" rope or 3" balls. For some unknown reason I haven't bothered with the neutral hand grips. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

For most people, I think it will be easier than regular pullups but not quite as easy as chinups. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

matek Posted June 14, 2023 Author Share Posted June 14, 2023 (edited) Blobs RH/LH - 3x1 KWN40 lifts - 6x1 KWN50 (50.5lb/22.9kg) assisted lifts I also tried to lift it unassisted with RH: - 3 above the knee, but fail there - 2 relatively good lifts: need a pause at the top, but otherwise, nice lifts. I'm happy with these for now. The second lift is in the video. Edit: sent the video for cert, why not. Based on other people's videos, this should be fine. If not, I'll just redo it next week. I didn't even try it with LH because my thumb webbing is pretty bruised from yesterday's volume reverse bending. My only suggestions so people can better see the lockout are (a) being a little farther away from the camera so your whole body is in the frame and (b) ideally having the brief pause at the top that you mentioned in your post. If you end up doing another video, I've also seen people weigh their implement as part of the documentation. I know it's not required by the rules, but in my opinion it can give context/credence to a feat. Just my two cents. 2 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The attempt was accepted, but I will do more videos anyways, and will try to do it stricter! Yea I didn't weigh it because it was not required (actually I was surprised by this, but it kinda makes sense given that the kanji on the bottom would be hard to replicate). 2 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

That was a real nice lift. I didn't notice the video earlier. I cant wait to get my Blobtop back from Jedd. Unfortunately they didn't have time do the post comp comp with it. Always next time. Would have been the first comp ever with the Blobtop and i'd have loved for all those guys to get their hands on it. P.S. @Jedd Johnson just posted a video of him lifting a KWN60 after Nationals, so you can probably guess why I'm searching for a link again. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

These are made by a small metal-casting company (伊藤鉉鋳工所 / Itou-gen Chuukoujo) that makes kettlebells, blobs, and inch dumbbells in different sizes. I live in Japan, and I can just order them at Amazon. Unfortunately, they only sell domestically. Once somebody asked me to help him buy one, but the shipping fee would have been too expensive. Not sure how much Zach/Touru paid for it, but the shipping is way over the price of the blob. Anyways, since you asked for the link, here it is. 1 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
