Grippers
RH
- 2x3 with a 5-sec hold on the last rep, Standard adjustable Tungsten, set to RGC 145, MMS
- 3x3 Standard adjustable Tungsten, set to RGC 145, MMS
The last set felt hard, but I got it all. One more heavy workout this week, and next week is deload. Then I'll attempt to close my RGC 165 Cobalt MMS.
- 3x1 with 8-sec hold, Standard adjustable Titanium, filed handles, set to RGC 135, MMS

For future me (and for anybody who might be interested), my gripper progress has been good lately because:
- I only used rated grippers for RH closes (heavy set practice is different). I haven't touched my unrated CoC #3 or GHP #7 with my RH for quite a while. Btw I like buying new grippers, but for progression, having these two adjustable grippers is honestly enough (Tungsten rated with standard handles, Ti with filed handles).
- I've been training too close to my max all the time. The 75-85% range is a much better choice for me to progress (today's main was higher though on purpose).
- I used to hate filed closes, and I still don't like them, but these just help so much
- Holding the reps is the best bang for the buck, and it's safe
- Choked closes are still great and probably still the most fun for me

LH
- 8x1 U-shaped parallel gripper, RGC ~147, 30mm width - failed the last two reps

(only counting the plates)
- 6x6 200kg/441lbs

- 1x1 132.5kg/292.1lbs
- 7x1 with 4 sec holds on top 130kg/286.6lbs

Good volume, I really felt these holds.

Thanks!
I never tried the axle/2" thick bar. Would be great to have a 2" thick bar implement for deadlifts... Would be better for multiple reasons. I would still use the fat gripz blue for dumbbells.

Yes, they go up to 200lbs or smg crazy like that (btw the picture was the 135 one I think).
Of course, basically nobody using these. Just the weird foreigner with the blue handle.

If it makes you feel better I’m known as the weird bald dude with gym that looks like an S&M dungeon.

The jokes get old and I can’t even have a serious conversation about this stuff with some people. But I ask for it .. I’m the biggest ball buster around.

Plus gyms aren’t supposed to be comfy and cozy. They are supposed to be hot in the summer and cold In the winter.

I've been reading old grip books this afternoon and found this exercise in How To Develop A Powerful Grip by Edward Aston (1930). I never thought about this, but this is actually a very smart way to train pinch without equipment:

i did this so often that one of my door is stained, training climbing as a young adult with no equipment i would hang on doorframes and do holds on whatever random trees i could find in the wild.

wide branches, thin branches, different angles, pinch or thumb over.

😅

I tore two tennis balls, but the ones I bought (cheap ones) ripped around the glued part so it wasn't actually hard. Another one to the list to impress non-grip people 😂

That is a great way to train pinch, but it puts a lot of stress on the door jamb...

60mm pinch block (GoG)
RH
- 3x1 35.9kg/79.1lbs
- 2x1 33.3kg/73.4lbs

LH
- 2x1 33.3kg/73.4lbs
- 3x1 31.9kg/70.3lbs

Blobs
Both hands
- 8x1 KWN50 (50.5lb/22.9kg) assisted lift
More assist to LH lifts.

Overall, pinch feels off for a few weeks now. Especially blob lifts. Maybe pinching two times/week is the solution.

+ barehanded a 6mm x 7" CRS because I was frustrated

DU (double leathers)
- FBBC Sexabastard 5/16" x 7" stainless HEX - 74 degrees
Stock from Andrew. It was hard to get it going (~30 seconds). In total, done in 54 secs to 74 degrees. This was why I skipped the shoulder/back day last week; I wanted to be fresh.
- CRS HEX 5/16" x 7" - 46 degrees
This was from my 'own' batch, supplier B (harder than the FBBC hexabastard stock I had/have). I didn't bother bending it further, I rather preserved strength.

DU (single leathers)
- C45 HEX 7mm x 6" - 41 degrees
- 3X C45 HEX 7mm x 6.2" - 44 degrees, 48 degrees, 44 degrees
- C45 HEX 7mm x 6.3" - 59 degrees
- C45 HEX 7mm x 6.7" - 66 degrees
- C45 HEX 7mm x 7" - 58 degrees

I got a blood blister from the second bend in singles, and it finally popped here. RH will not like grippers this week, but thankfully it's deload week with grippers anyways.

One of the best bending sessions I have ever had. For reference, a 7mm C45 HEX is harder than a 5/16" normal CRS.

No reverse this time, I wanted to focus on DU.

Awesome session... You really tore it up.

Its nasty looking but its good it popped. I pop them asap... They can take a while to go away and become cumbersome.

Liquid bandage works miracles, allows me to work without irritating the wound but i've never have had to use one on an area that big.

Thanks, I was really satisfied with it.

It's not that bad as it looked after it popped. Thanks for the recommendation, I'll buy some. It sounds like a good/convenient thing to have anyways
