Climbing The Ladder: Yori's Training Log

Electron

Recommended Posts

Yesterday morning, I weighed in at 119.8 lbs.

Haven't been sub 120 for a good 5 years.

I'm losing weight a little fast, so I'll be pacing myself a bit more and enjoying food.

2/13: AZ Training W2D2

PR: 130# Sledge choke, BW Rolling Thunder!

BW: 120.4

AW practice with Rex, Michael, Garrett.

2HP@54mm

60x10sec

80x10sec

100x10sec

120x1 hold

130x5 (4 reps no reset)

130x5 (no reset)

130x5 (no reset)

150x1, F, 1, 1 hold

RT

110.5-previous PR-easy. This surprised me.

120.5-1 Right hand PR! Left hand air.

Finally got bodyweight in this lift. Hadn't practiced it in a while and I'm 10lbs lighter than last time I PRd.

Next is 135+.

My pinching went well. I'll use 54mm for anyhow reps and 58 for straight reps from now. See how that works.

2/17: AZ Training W3D1

BW: 119.8

PRs: BOOM! Tried for 8 reps at 135 on the 2HP, and got 12. This is by far my best performance and blows my 3 sets of 10 with BW (Done 2/3) out of the water. I'm getting better as I'm losing mass.

Carried around my HG200 and did 3 sets of 10-15.

2HP (54mm)

60x10sx2 Getting a feel for it took longer

80x10s hold

100x10s hold

120x2

135x8 anyhow reps. Got easier as hands lost some chalk.

135x8 anyhow. Much easier than first. More moist helped.

135x12 anyhow. Did 6 reps with no reset. Rep PR by far!

Groubd it out this session.

I'd like to experiment with using moisturizer and chalk to get a better grip.

2/19

New one handed axle PR.

Right hand got 121 easily, pulled 126 past knees.

Left hand got 126 and pulled 131 past knees.

Just a 1# PR on left, but that's what progress is made of.

BW: 119.0

Accidentally made an inch DB trainer.

Played with it, did some holds.

Don't remember what I lifted but it worked my support grip really well.

This close to the contest you probably want to start letting your skin layers recover. You've been tearing a lot lately, and it takes 2-3 weeks for me to get 100% full skin coverage back. I'd start keeping the sets easily within your range. It's risky business trying to gain strength within three weeks of a contest, especially when dropping weight.

On that note, are we training tomorrow? I need to hit some Euro :D Also, we need to discuss the fat gripz to axle ratio. I did 265 easy on fat gripz and almost locked out 275 (was surprised to miss it). If we assume a 85% ratio of fat gripz to axle, that would put me at about my best contest axle. I think I'm shooting for 295 on fat gripz before grip nationals.

Thanks. We're training tomorrow. I should have officially weighed weights by then too.

Did you not get my text? I just got a new number and tried contacting you yesterday.

Ok. I thought I double checked but my phone really sucks at entering numbers in.

Same thing happened when I tried to text Ian.

Nice on that new one handed axle PR!

You should record the numbers from our workout, too, including that gravity defying 175 pinch, Mighty Electron!

Holy crap you changed your name. Haha

Eric gave me the superhero name because I'm much lighter even than the Mighty Atom.

Fun facts:

Pizza is my weakness.

I run on coffee and soju.

Super speed and pinch strength.

Napalm is my arch nemesis.

"Napalm is my arch nemesis"

I hope Jedd doesn't see this

Also, did you fail to tell me Eric was in town!? 175 is a biblical pinch at your weight. I look forward to seeing you stomp the record books.

Yeah we kept this affair a secret from you, sorry you found out this way.

So we had both assumed that the other had told you, until day of. Did you practice with Jarrod earlier?

Thanks man. I learned a few things that night from Eric.

Will update my log with more details later.

Hey man, ever consider training for a hub pull up? I think at your pinch to weight ratio you can pull it off.

Thanks man.

It really interests me because nobody had been able to pull it off yet.

After setting a joint record on hub last year @47lbs, I thought about training towards this.

It's been on the back burner a bit since my number one goal is to do well in the next contest, but I'll start working on it.

3/2: Extreme Ratio Training W4D3

Mini meet with Eric.

PRs: LOTS

Bw: 118.8

Grippers

135 rated HG300 "solid 1/4 inch miss" according to Eric.

121 rated GNC200 felt easy in RH

Easier GNC200 barely miss LH

123 rated #2.5 miss.

2HP @58mm

174.25 PR! Solid and controlled first attempt but had the upright set too high.

Second attempt was successful, for a new BW PR of 147%. Almost there!

177.75 Air x3. Couldn't do much more at this point but it's going down soon enough.

Then, on to 180.

LGC Thickbar Handle

Didn't know what this handle would feel like, just that it's harder than the RT.

A lot nicer too.

Loaded up with just 40lbs to start off. Easy as expected.

75-same thing.

105-surprised that I lifted this because I had expected to top out at 100.

116-started feeling a little hard but still liftable

121-both hands... matching my all time RT PR. Pretty proud off this one. This is a secret, but I'd like to outlift Wigren's 65k sometime.

Eric also taught me some bending. Not totally committed here the same way I am with grip, but maybe there will be a red with my name on it sometime in the next few years...
