Hello everyone, My name is Frank Pizzo, I am 27 years old, 6' 242 lbs. I've been using grippers on and off since 2004, but have recently begun training hard and have been posting up some videos on YouTube to track my progress: http://www.youtube.com/user/cfpizzo01?feature=mhum. I joined the Gripboard for knowledge and advice from those who have "been there and done that". I've also been lifting weights since highschool, and have had moderate success in this area as well.

Nice presses. Something I really like to do too !

Where do you come from ?

Hello, dear colleagues in the sport!

My name is Izman Illia. I'm 26 years old, I live in Ukraine, city of Lugansk.

I apologize for my bad English, to communicate with you use an interpreter Google.

Currently I am working commercial director at the plant, which produces drilling equipment.

At age 20 I fell in love armwrestling, and at age 23 became the first champion of the region.

From early childhood, my father instilled in me a love for the grip, which were printed in the Soviet Union in the form of a torus. The first serious grip, which I have seen, was grip, owned the champion of Asia on armwrestling of Bishkek. It was the grip of a huge ring that I was not able to squeeze even once, but I was close to this. He smiled and told me that the world championship on armwrestling this grip is not squeezed one! The most notable was the fact that the grip was made by hand from a very durable rubber!

After that, I pondered the purchase of a powerful grip that will allow me to increase finger strength. Just recently I had the opportunity to acquire CSC Ironmind № 2, № 2,5.Thanks to your forum and many online resources I get acquainted with the rules tightening grip and set myself the task to press number 3! My training gradually, due to high load at work.

I would be very happy to achieve high results in compression of grip and become a member of a large team of amateurs and professionals grip!

I wish all the strong hand and perseverance to achieve results!

Hey guys and gals,

My name is Cody Semer. I am from Toledo, Ohio. I am looking to increase grip strength primarily for fun. I love training and really want to work towards closing a #3 in the future. I won't really know where I stand until my birthday roles around next week when I get my #1, #1.5, #2, and #2.5. At the Arnold Fitness Expo this past March I closed the #2 right handed but not left. I have a cheap Muscle Driver 150 (similar to the HG150) and can close it 30 times in each hand. I also love pinch grip work. I have broken 2 Ivanko 35s off the floor with each hand, but not to lockout. Hopefully I can increase pinch grip to where I can use 45s.

I am a fan of strongman and powerlifting and train the three powerlifts mostly. I also love KBs and now that the sun is finally starting to shine here in Ohio I will head outside for some overhead work (standing 6'4" my wife won't let me try to snatch in the living room :) That's about it. Looking forward to learning more about grip strength!

Hey everyone,

Glen here, 24 years old, work in law enforcement. 6'2" 235lb. Been powerlifting for a couple of years but interested in taking my strength to a different level. Bought the COC #1, #1.5 and #2 about a month ago. Was pretty happy that i could close the #2 straight out of the packet but now im just trying to build up reps so i can close the #3 within the year. And hopefully it will add to my powerlifting total.

Welcome to the board! That's a heck of a start being able to close the #2 right out of the package. I work in Corrections so I can tell you that having a great grip is sometimes even more useful than being overall bodily strong. What state are you in? If you're close to Kansas (Lawrence) we could meet up for some training.

Kevin Rice here 28 from England.

Been training with weights for a number of years. Bought some grippers in 2009 to improve my grip strength got lazy and stopped using them after a couple of weeks.

Well i picked them up again a couple of weeks ago and closed my number #2 for the first time this week so ive decided im now gonna take it a bit more seriously aim for a CoC #3 cert.

hey i'm jarrod fobes, 5'10" 195lbs. i picked up a decent amount of grip strength from doing judo/jujitsu & really like training grip for fun. my crush is okay, but my pinch grip is sorry! i'm really looking forward to learning from all the grip specialists on here. i've decided this will be my last year for martial arts competitions, & i think i'd like to hit some grip meets to scratch my competitive itch.

also looking to get active in all-around weightlifting & olympic lifting, as well as highland games. i work as a personal trainer & really enjoy introducing clients to a bit of grip training.

Hi. I sort of screwed up and did an intro elsewhere. I tend to dive right into things and blunder about before finding my way. :laugh

My name is Nate. I’m 38 years old, currently residing in Brooklyn, NY. After 15 years of sedentary ways (heart condition blah blah), I’m actually starting to get back into shape. Watching American Ninja Warrior, my daughter said, “You can do that Daddy!”…which of course is completely untrue. Anyway, long story short, I decided to get back into shape and (if all goes well) in a few years, I’m going to try out. So upon learning about the importance of grip on the obstacles, I stumbled across Iron Mind and consequently GripBoard.

I got “the bug” about 3 weeks ago and I’ve pretty much been winging it without any idea of what I was doing. I closed #2 the other day and I’ve got flights of fantasy of someday asking IM to create a #5. Heh. I’m hoping that someone else here can relate (and I’m not just wacky). :whistel

I’m 6’4” and 210lbs (heading down to 195)…but I was 245lbs 12/31/10. Physical background… I was a swimmer wayyyy back when and did about 5 years of solid carpentry before getting ill. After a divorce and remarriage, my heart has literally been on the mend for the last 3 years.

I’d like to reclaim as much strength and ability as I can. Because of the damage that was done, I’ll never be able to carry the body weight to become a monster, but “lean and mean” is definitely a possibility. Goals…get in the best shape I can, close the #3 this summer and #4 down the road.

Hey Ben i live in Australia, which kinda sucks cos id love a training partner. Not too many people here are grip training orientated, although the powerlifting community is slowly growing which is a plus. I recently got the COC#2.5 and #3. Was able to close the #2.5 with my dominant hand and had my first attempt at the 3 and boy i'm impressed at the difference between the 2.5 and 3. I was about an inch off closing the #3 so its gonna keep me pretty occupied for a few months atleast!

Hello everybody,

My name is Scott and I am 18 years old. I'm not a big guy at all, standing at 5'7" and weighing 155. I have trained on CoC grippers for a long time but I have just now learned that clicking out 3 X 15 reps on the trainer is not enough, and my hand strength, while having improved vastly since picking the grippers up, is not where I want it to be as I can only close the #1 a couple of times. I have just bought KTA and am going to start some thickbar work and also really ramp up my pinch grip training to get myself up to at least a #1.5 before I start this intense program. My current goal is the #2, which I would very much like to be able to shut upon completing the KTA program.

Hi, name's Josh. I'm 33 at 6'5" and 245lb. You'd expect a guy my size to have some natural, inherent strength, sadly 10 years as a graphic designer/computer jockey have left me fat, weak as a kitten and possessing the grip strength of a 12 year old chemo patient. I can barely close a CoC #1.5, my pinch attempts are hilarious at best and a foray into bending would most likely leave me with the stigmata. Needless to say, I have plenty of room for improvement.

My goals for 2011 are simple (pathetic by comparisson to many on the GB but it's a start):

• Close a CoC #2

• Pinch lift 2 35s

• Deadlift 200 lbs without straps and without my forearms failing

Closing a CoC #3 and pinch lifting a pair of 45s is on my 10+ year goal list.

With a good program, you'll reach those goals in no time, especially if you start training.

Im not a new member but I have not touched my grippers in over 4 years or been to this website in a really long time and today i found them in the shed. It was like christmas all over again. gonna start training to close the #2 by the end of the summer.I could still close the number 1 pretty consistently which i thought was good for not training with them for such an extended period.

Hi, my name's Rog.

I've been training for many years, but in the past year and a half I have been dedicating my time to kettlebells.

Recently I have also developed an interest in increasing my grip strength, partially to help with my snatch numbers, but mainly to try and develop an all around hand and forearm strength that has good balance.

I'm not particularly interested (at the moment) in specialising in grippers or bending etc. I'm more interested in just getting all around strong hands in addition to the hand strength gained from kettlebells. My pinch grip I have found is particulary weak.

I've added into my regular schedule one specialised grip day a week, I am currently following the Beginner Workout (A) from Brookfield's Mastery of Hand Strength on this day. Also when doing pullups (which I do three times a week) I'm doing towel pullups.

If it makes any odds I'm 6', 82Kg and 34 years old.

My name is Erik, 24 years old and live in Sweden

173 cm

75 kg

Deadlift 160 kg (belt)

ATG Squat 120kg (no belt)

Benchpress 90 kg

COC #2

Goals this year

Deadlift 180 kg

ATG Squat 130 kg

Benchpress 100 kg

COC #2.5

I started to lift weights in October last year and got interested in grippers in December.

I bought COC T, 1 and 1.5, I could almost close #1.5. I didn't train my grip much but my grip still improved, a few weeks later i could close the #1.5 gripper. I decided to buy the #2 but it was way to hard for me, I didn't train my grip much at the time. A few weeks ago i tried the #2 again and could almost close it. That's when I started to train my grip serious.

I can do about 4 reps now on the #2 if i reset the gripper.

Just now seeing this thread:

Kevin Collen

29yo

6'3"

BW @ 240

San Francisco, CA

2011 Goals are to close the #2, the #2.5 and to certify MM0. Also to total 1200 in powerlifting; shooting for 425 squat, 320 bench and 455 deadlift (first meet in September).

Been training for powerlifting a little less than 18 months and grip training about 4 weeks. Longer term grip goals are to certify CoC #3, work up the MM ladder, total powerlifting elite @ 242 (1607+), and get back into grappling.

Glad to be here--this is a great resource.
