since I got home early and got the grippers and sledge work out of the way i thought I'd do some bending.

DU

mutant 60d

easy grade 5. my very last one.

DO

rail tie

60d

3/8x6 grade 2 bolt. really neat bend. it feels like it's going to hold and then it just melts. I might rest a minute and give a bastard a go. I also need to get some new wraps. these new ones just aren't breaking in. and I gave my good ones to my wife.

With those backloads, is that 140 with an extra 35lbs that makes 175 or what? Do you only add weight to the back from a certain point?

What class are you doing at Gripmas? I thought you were about 230 or so but wasn't sure?

When I start backloading I leave a 25 on each side and just start adding weight to the back side. so, 175 would be the 2x45 in the middle, 25 on each side, and an additional 35 on the back. so 25 on the front and 60 on the back.

Jad, After a bunch on injuries this summer that kept me out of training I got up to 245. But, since I have 2 pretty herniated discs I'm trying to lose some weight or at least lean up. right now I'm weighing in at 230-240 depending on the scale I use. I doubt I'll make the light weight class at gripmas. I do need to get a lot trimmer for my back though.

oct8 08 gym work

wrist ext 3x10 50# straight bar.

standing wrist curls behind back 3x10 150#. I need to find a better way to do these, I don't like it at all.

also, I did weight added pull ups again. I am determined to be the strongest fat man at Zachs comp this summer.

Do the wrist curls over the knees.

Haha, you'll have Jedd and Andrew to go up against you as well. Andrew told me before he knew of my comp about a sternum pullup with an extra 100lbs ;)

the wrist curls over the knees still don't feel right for me. I might try a preacher curl bench. Andrew is a freak but I'd like to see the 100# added sternum pullup before I believe it. I'd also have to ask what he weighted at the point, etc, etc. If we go back far enough I did a set of 20 strict pull ups off of an I beam in the garage. That doesn't really have anything to do with what I can pull now. we'll see what happens. this is supposed to be a winter of weight loss for me.

what has jedd done in the weight added pull up? I know he does a lot as part of his training.

I don't know what Jedd has done but Andrew said the +100 pullup was done in recent years at an exp or something of the sort. I do know that Jedd was as close on ring muscle ups at Gripmas '07 as I was. That has to say something for his pullup strength... or it could mean nothing.

How strict will you be with kipping/swinging. who is judging?

I'll be judging. All you have to do is start from a dead stop. Basically, just lock out your arms before you start pulling and then go up. It only needs to be held for sub-1 second, just long enough for me to see your starting from a stop. After that though, swing, twist, windshield wiper, front lever, back lever, OAC, OAP, hump, gyrate, do a little dance and make a little love to get up there. All I want is a start from a dead stop.

interesting. I'll have to start doing some swings for negatives at the end of my sets.

Are those those thick 35's?

Link to comment

they're the same 35's I had at GGC. so, yes, they're thick. I don't know what they measure at though. they have that slick paint I used for a couple fo things and they don't have any chalk on them. once they get a little chalky I expect the numbers to go up fast.
