Geo
Hey thanks Big T The past few gripper workouts have been pretty poor in terms of my level of crush. Getting used to doing a moderate grip workout every day all day long (doing manual work instead of office based) must of been a contributing factor. However today was differrent. I took my grippers to the gym to work on after my squat training. I did my squats then ... I punished the grippers! Today was Payback time! I CLOSED the RB260 from parallel twice! and got a hairs breadth from a #3CC set PR's are very cool. Heres the workout. #3 Parallel set. R - CLOSED L - 0.9 #3 CC set R - 0.9 ! Geo
Thanks guys. The encouragement is really appreciated! With the CC set at the moment it feels like getting the right starting point is VERY important -in terms of the where the ends of the fingers are at the start point. My hands are getting freaking huge from the new job (and hopefully strong)! Im using a heavy duty skill saw to cut english oak all day long and that is a workout in itself! pdoire
Geo, You seem to be closing the 3 pretty regularly. What I have done is try OC'ing it now for a new spin on owning the 3. And you need a new stronger gripper for negative or an ISG. I would go with at bare minimum an Elite and preferably a BBSE. The logic is your new goal gripper is now the Elite since you can close the three, and the Neg gripper is supposed to be one step above your goal gripper. Geo
Yep that makes sense Paul. I do have an ISG already so I might start using that again. But yes I do need some new grippers - he said grinning! Theres a offer at intense fitness 3 rb's for £50 so I was going to get a 300 a 330 and maybe a 240. But I want an elite as well and yep it makes sense to get a BBSE as well. Thanks

Geo
Elite and Super Elite are on their way. I was at work today and I was waiting for my brother to finish with a chisel and there were some galvanised 5 inch nails lying around next to a pair of leather work gloves. Ive never tried bending before but thought hey Ill give it a go. I bent it really easy. I enjoyed it though. When my brothers saw it they thought id bent it with a hammer!Think Ill order me a bag o nails from Ironmind and give em a go. Its probably quite an easy nail to bend and gloves probably help but still enjoyed it. Edited September 26, 2005 by Geo

Geo
After a ridiculous amount of hassle in picking up the new grippers from the parcelforce depot (and a "handling" fee from them ) I have my new Elite and Super Elite. I have to thank Paul Doire for recomending these grippers to me at the stage of the game that I am now at. Paul hit the nail on the head when he said I needed bigger grippers to progress my crush strength further. My flexors are shouting "What the F***?!!" after tonights workout! The new grippers really worked em hard. Anyway heres tonights workout. #3 CC set attempts R - 0.8 L - 0.7 R - 0.8 L - 0.7 R - 0.9 L - 0.8 R - 0.9 L - 0.7 R - 0.8 L - 0.6 R - 0.8 + forced closed L - 0.7 + forced closed R - 0.8 + forced closed L - 0.7 + forced closed R - 0.8 + forced closed L - 0.7 + forced closed R - 0.7 + forced closed L - 0.7 + forced closed R - 0.7 + forced closed L - 0.6 + forced closed Elite Negatives with a CC set and held for 3 count 10 sets Super Elite Negatives with a CC set and held for 3 count 10 sets Dexterity balls
pdoire
George, glad you like the new BB's ...that new knurling is fantastic!! What is a CC set Negative? I don't understand...
Geo
Yeah the knurling on them is just right -not too coarse or too smooth. I found that setting the gripper to CC set to be very awkward. A tiny bit closer than credit card set is perfect for me. Credit card set really makes me work as I find it so much harder. So I wanted to make sure that my work on the grippers was concentrated on my weak spot. So when I do a CC set negative I set the gripper with the CC and then make an attempt, use the other hand to help the gripping hand as little as possible in order to get the gripper closed. Then hold for 3 seconds closed. Then remove the assisting hand slowly so that the maximum amount of work is being done by the gripping hand and slowly open the gripper. Really its for me to practice over and over setting the gripper with the Card and also to make sure my finger tips are where they should be so the weak spot is worked. pdoire
George...if I may, I think you are going to far with the CCS. I think you can and are doing your gripper attempts at CCS this is great!! But Negs Buddy...they are a different animal....forget CCS, Negs are a brute strength all aroung hand strengthening exercise. Their main focus really is to get the hand accustomed to a higher than goal gripper stress and hope that it adjusts accordingly and brings us more overall hand strength. With a Neg you want to bring it closed with 2 hands , or bodyweight , or whatever...then let go with one hand and hang on for dear life...with the proper weight this will allow you to get much stronger. So it really is not about a "set" with negs it is about getting that beast down and hopefully not allowing it to spring open to more than a 1/4 inch to get your hand used to the higher pressure. Hope thats clear and you don't see it as condescending in any way. Shoot you may even know this already, it's just my two cents!!
Geo
Thanks Paul .I can see what you are saying and take it on board. I find using the CC set when doing negs to work the weak spot in my crush so thats useful. However, it sounds like a good idea to do some normal negatives like you say as you can use a stronger gripper. I will throw some normal negatives into my next workout like you say. Thanks for the input Paul I appreciate it.
