Geo
Without the choker is definately the way forward. Getting the Card and the gripper set correctly does take some practice but I seem to be slowly getting the hang of it. Although the attempts without the choker are not quite as good as the attempts with, the plan seems to be working. First off I tried 1 set just shallower than CC set. R - CLOSED L - 0.8 Then I moved onto the proper work! pdoire
George, So you do one gripper workout per week, with ten goal gripper attempts and then about 4 negs??
Geo
woops forgot to put the number of sets of negs in the last workout. For the record it was ten. Paul- Actually not usually. Last week was a very busy with the house move etc so I only trained once last week. My usual schedule is Tuesday -heavy. Thursday -heavy light. Saturday- Heavy I started out about 4 weeks or so before I started noting things down here doing very high volume Kinney style workouts. My right elbow was giving me grief about two weeks ago (or so) so I cut back a lot on the volume (only trained 2x a week)and my elbow feels a lot better. I only today started to up the volume a little. Glad I cut back though because when I first started with the grippers I went totally overboard on them and had to stop for 3 months! It seems that lowering the volume hasnt slowed my progress which is interesting... Usually its ten attempts then go on to the negatives/assisted attempts I am coming to the opinion however that attempts- then attempts with as little assistance as possible is one of the best ways to improve on grippers (for me at least) Edited August 29, 2005 by Geo
pdoire
Try working your extensors more..that helped me with my elbow and forearm aches.
Geo
Thanks Paul. Ive upped the extensor work. Do some immedialely after gripping and this seems to have helped a lot. I dont put extensor work in my training log. Good grief I am knackered. I started my new job this week. Went from office work to construction work. Its GREAT but more physically demanding than my old job and ive just done my first training session (powerlifting) at the new place. My hands get a good workout at the new job which is good as I definatley have found doing manual work quickens recovery time for grip workouts - must be all the blood flushing through the hands as they are used. Geo
Tried out a gym in the local area dumbells up to 180lb! Did some rows with the 170's on friday and my crush is knackered! #3 Did attempts set at CC width with a hold for 3 seconds and a slow negative. 25 sets. extensor work. strangely my left hand feels easier to get the position for a no set than my right?!! Geo
Hands must be still getting used tot he manual work. Im doing joinery with oak and lifting the stuff all day long must take its toll on my hands as they are tired. I did 10 attempts tonight at CC width. Hope my hands get used to it soon. Geo
Thanks paul. I think working the extensors a lot is a good idea as the flexors get a hamering at work and then when I train grippers.
