bencrush
Great workouts Franky! 242 on the thumbless grip deadlift is very good. I still don't think many will go over 300 on this.
FrankyBoy
Thanks Ben. 09/25/2005 Meeting with ouzo12 Focus was levering and bending as usual. Made again a big jump in the lever event. In the morning I thought I could be happy to lever a 4kg hammer with my left. Just for fun I tried my 6kg hammer and levered it twice! With my alpha hand I levered a 7.75kg hammer without the cam running since I didn't expect to get it. Afterwards I tried an 8kg hammer: 8kg Hammer Even that was not too hard. Then I tried 8.25kg and finally failed: 8,25kg Hammer In bending I'm still not at my former level with DO, I again failed on a 6" Red at 90° and I had really trouble to finish off a 5" G5 and couldn't crush down a 5.5" square. Therefor I DUed and reverse bent a G5.
mobsterone
Great workouts Franky! 242 on the thumbless grip deadlift is very good. I still don't think many will go over 300 on this. ← Of course, as David says his bar spins a great deal but 242 is bugger all. I did 105-kilos (231) on a 2-inch thick bar a few years ago at an IG competition. In training and it was the first time using an Olympic bar I did 120-kilos or 264 lbs x 1 rep. Here's what I did the other day when practising the form: bar x 6 reps, forward and straddle style both hands (so 6 right, 6 left x in front, then 6 left and 6 right straddle = 24 reps for each weight) plus 40-kilos (20 a side = 50-kilos approx) x 4 as above plus 70-kilos (35 a side = 80-kilos approx) x 4 as above
jimwylie1
Mob, If Franky lifts 110kg on David's bar it will be a very good lift indeed. That 105kg you did was not thumbless and the bar didn't spin at all. This is a lift that just goes - an extra 2.5 kg can be the difference between a comfortable lift and a fail. Looks like you were using an exercise bar for those lifts you did in practice and not an oly bar?

Indeed I make a point of saying so in my training diary. The session mentioned was using an exercise bar.

FrankyBoy
On Tuesday I had my first real A.A. and OHDL session. Did a lot of holds til failure here. The following day I was way off in grippers so I skipped that session. Yesterday I did some vbar training. First time ever I went for 140kg since 130kg was really easy. I got it to hover a little. Then I tried 135kg and bang, hand is torn again. For consistency reasons I continued my training til the left tore up also. After that I did some levering, high weight low rep scheme. Its interesting how hard a second rep can be, the sledge tends to tip over on its way back. I finished with some supinator rotations for my left. I used a IM loading pin for that exercize. Those feel really great. I hope to get rid of that spinning vbar on my left that way.
FrankyBoy
09/30/2005 Apollons Axle Bigger session today Good news, my last workout has shown some results. First I went for single lockouts with a short hold: 1x72.5kg 1x112,5kg 1x132,5kg 1x142,5kg 1x145kg 0x147,5kg (5cm) 0x145kg (10cm) 1x142,5kg Inserted a small gripper session just for curiosity. Did some closes up to my easy #3 righty and to my #2 lefty. Then I continued with the A.A. workout. 0x142.5kg 1x2x132,5kg 1x2x132,5kg 1x112,5kg x 20secs (Hold) 1x112,5kg x 20secs (Hold) 1x112,5kg x 15secs (Hold) Good session. Tried OHDL afterwards but stood no chance due to my torn hands.

FrankyBoy
Theo, I'm not training RT currently due to the additional events in Davids contest like levering and OHDL. I will train the RT again after my surgery mid november.

bencrush
Great stuff Franky! Sorry about your torn hands man. I have now officially torn my own little patch of skin, with a LOT less weight than you freaks did it with, and it sucks. I have the utmost respect for you guys who just continue to train when it tears like that.
FrankyBoy
No healing in sight on my groin. I'm doing high lockouts to go easy on them. 09/30/2005 Apollons Axle0x145kg (10cm) ← No pain between the legs?? ←
FrankyBoy
10/02/2005 Strapholds and Pinch Strapholds with IM Strap & 2.5kg (5.5lb) Left: RB210x16sec Narrow SMx12s SMx0s Right: GMx20sec MM1x13sec MM2x0sec Pinch Did some singles on my 50 and 70mm blocks Best lefty was 31.25kg on 50mm and 37.5kg righty on 70mm ??? My two hands have different favourite pinching widths? Now that makes it easy to decide for the 2-hand pinch width. 5 Holds with 20kg on the 50mm block. Concluded with some TTK work. burkhardmacht
Hi Franky! That's quite interesting with the different pinch withs! Is this an outcome of training the left hand different from the right hand? Or do You always train with the same withs? Good results there btw! After one week of being dizzy I return to the squats as soon as possible. Hope Your injury is healing fast!

DuTCH
Yup, you should go after that MM1 again! How much harder was the actual MM1 compared to your dud?
FrankyBoy
If I remember it was a little bit harder, not much harder but enough to fail on it. I have a list of gripper which I want to close first before I'll sign up again. (Like Narrow Elite, RB330N, MM2 dud).

FrankyBoy
10/04/2005 A.A. and thumbless OH Oly DL Only a short session Managed to lockout 147.5kg on the Axle and did some holds in the one hand lift on the oly bar (mostly 80kg or 70kg). 10/05/2005 vbar and Levering Again only a short session Hands are not properly healed, the missing skin makes the lift quite painful so I just did some lighter lifts. Sledge: Some low reps on heavier weights: Right: 1x7.25kg 3x3x6kg Left: Couple of Sets with the selfmade sledge and 3.5kg I'm still feeling my Extensors Killer Workout from monday. pdoire
Franky, I haven't posted much in your thread since I came back but I do look at it often. You have evolved so much more into an all around gripster than I remember back in April. I look forward to reading your log regularly. Great job...incredible variety!!
