FrankyBoy
Thanks honk, Martin & Flo. Last gripper session today before the germans. Got my harder RB210 with my left. PR With my right I had another top session today. First I tried to close all my three #3s in a row, starting with my super nasty '04 #3, continueing with my slightly above average '02 #3 and finishing with my easy '03 #03. The '04 #3 got closed for the first time. Can you hear it squeaking? Video: Closing 3 different #3s Then I went for two RBs I haven't closed yet. First is a RB330N, 2nd a nasty custom RB260 which I got from my buddies as a birthday present. Video: Closing a RB330N and a RB260 All in all I closed not less than 6 different grippers in the last two weeks for the first time: A '01 #3 (From Flo) '04 #3 Narrow Elite MM2 dud RB330N RB260
DuTCH
Man, stop putting fear in your fellow competitors Guess the 'new' setting technique is working for you? btw, are you bringing that hard #3 and the MM1 to the comp? I would like a rematch at that MM1 dud, gauge my progress for the MM certification. Thanks!
FrankyBoy
I will bring those grippers to the comp. Nobody needs to fear me since my groins don't heal. Maybe I've to skip the Apollons Dead Lift. Or I just lift a ridiculous low weight. Strange to loose a grip contest even if your hands are stronger than ever. mobsterone
Strange to loose a grip contest even if your hands are stronger than ever. ← Never a truer word uttered. David Horne's shoulder agrees with you and today, for a day or two, so does my back (just aching). I shut an SE gripper (rated 350ip) twice today even though my back was pissing me off. jimwylie1
Franky How much harder is the RB330 than the RB260? Also, there's a couple of lads at work that want to buy some RB grippers. They are after something a little harder than the #1 and a little easier than the #2. What would you recommend? Thanks Jim
FrankyBoy
Hard to compare since the RB260 is a very wide gripper and the RB330 a narrow version. The RB330 is easier to set but harder too close if that makes any sense. So all in all they are very equal. RBs vary that much. The RB130 or RB180 could fit or an RB210N. FrankyBoy
Well, germans are over. As expected, Flo won and I got second. Since Flo is my friend: I for sure grant him the victory. Flo again showed that he his overall the strongest in grip in germany. If he continues to train he will be do very well at the next europeans. My only highlight was to win the grippers with my right but Flo told me that the strap didn't stay well in the gripper during his attempt. Well it was me who placed it there. Sorry for that. Thats wasn't my intention. I placed the strap for most competitors and only Flo and Tom told me that the strap wasn't in a good place, but Tom couldn't even close the gripper. Not a good thing to tell me then its my fault. For me it was a mixed experience. I knew I couldn't do better than 2nd placed although I did very well with my right. Again it was my weak left which throw me back.

Sorry for that. Thats wasn't my intention. No problem, buddy. You were well prepared in the straphold event and hit a couple of gripper pr's in the last weeks. I knew that would be very close between us. You deserve the right hand win with grippers. I knew I couldn't do better than 2nd placed although I did very well with my right.Again it was my weak left which throw me back. ← Absolutly. Your right hand was probably (?) the strongest hand in the comp. FrankyBoy
10/30/2005 The day after the germans. Desperately wanted to do some gripping but was at my girl friends home. So I had to use her hardest gripper, a RB100. Left: 25,70,80 Right: 25,100,111 First set just was used as a warmup, slow and wide open reps. FrankyBoy
10/31/2005 Grippers Lefty: 10x#2 8x#2 0x#3 (1-2mm, very close) 10x#2 Righty: 4x#3 + a strained biceps 40x#2 (PR) Levering Did some singles and mini-sets on my loadable sledge. Did a stupid thing and tried to fight back a lost sledge. It tilted against the pronators and compressed my index that way. I could stop the movement but strained my index base joint extremely doing this. Biceps is fine today, index is hurting. I'm doing contrast bath and massages right now on the base joint. FrankyBoy
11/05/2005 Eric Townsend memorial workout Started with grippers. Tried to get a PR with my lefty: Missed the RB240 and the narrow GM. Tried to get a new rep count on my #2 and failed too. Warmed up my right and repped my easy #3: 7 reps, new PR. Since Eric was highly interested in Bending I decided to shoot for a Bending PR also. So I wrapped a 6 1/4" Red and learned that this is not to be my day. Normally I'm flying through the kink. That time after 5 goes only a little wobble. So I turned the music louder got in rage and jumped into the bar. 20° or so were the result. After anouther couple of attempts I finally reached the real hard part, the 90° point. There I stuck for at least 30 minutes. Then with every 5 attempts I got it like 2° further. I checked that after every attempt. Finally after another hour, I had that thing close enough to use the crush of my right and brought it from 2 1/8" downto 1 7/8" in 2 single attempts.
