FrankyBoy
Theo, Ben and I stopped our challenge long time ago. I restarted doing no-sets now due to my mainly useless left. But its a lot of fun and I really will go after the #3 when having closed the GM.
FrankyBoy
12/15/2005 Grippers & Bending!! Again an average Gripper Session (right, no-set) Warmup 3 min Hot water 5x#T 1x#1 1x#2 Training 1xcert SM 0xcert GM (~ 1/16") 0xSM (< 1/16") 2xcert SM Today was the 30th day post surgery, so I thought: "Lets try some bending". (Especially after having PMed again with Eric concerning bending). Aiming for the IM cert, I grabbed my IM pads and wrapped up some nails. I bent: 1x6mm nail 1xIM Yellow 1xBlue all were full bends and all were easy although my left arm and shoulder were cracking like crazy. Looks good!!! FrankyBoy
Thanks guys! I just had to know whats possible with my left arm 4 weeks after the surgery. I will wait at least another month before going for the bigger stuff (G8s, Reds). Maybe I'll let check my arm via xray beforehand.
bencrush
Great work Franky! And to TNS a Cert Grandmaster is a HUGE accomplishment! In anyone's book. Even the super freaks I think would agree with that.
FrankyBoy
Thanks Ben. I benched a bit together with my girl today. 1x45x25kg. Then I bent with IM pads: 1x7mm nail 1x6" G5 From now on I will use the 7mm nails and will switch later (prob. in January) to 7,6mm nails. DuTCH
Frank, if you are only off like a few mm. You should do the next workout some strapholds with the SM, and lay off the GM> The next time you get to the GM, you'll get it, no doubt! FrankyBoy
Thanks for your input, Theo. I can't do strapholds when no-setting though. I use a quite explosive style which just forbids to insert a strap. 12/19/2005 Grippers right hand, no-set only Warmup 4 min hot water 1x5xT 1x2x#1 1x#2 Training 1x4xcert SM (5th rep was ~1/16") PR 4 Reps CSM (That 4th rep was for you, Flo ) Just that single set already pumped my forearm up like crazy. 0xcert GM (1/16") as usual 1x2xcert SM 1x11x#2 1x5x#2 1x8xBBM Cool Down Stretching (Anti Tennisarm and Golferarm exercizes) Bench 30kg limit started this week (6th week post surgery began) 1x47x30kg Can't wait to do some more serious weights sometime. Cool Down Stretching 3 mins Hanging from pull up bar 4x1x30 secs, those actually serve as an additional stretching for the flexor tendons in the entire arm but are also great for the whole back including the traps. Just keep hammering away at it. Here is a tip. Grab the spring with the non gripping hand when you get stuck at the last 1/16" and let me know if the gripper shuts for you. I use this technique in my training.
FrankyBoy
12/23/2005 Grippers & Bending Boy what an off-day. Felt dizzy all the day and didn't expect too much and thats exactly what I got. Bench: 1x45x30kg 1 min PB 4 min hot water 3xT, 2x#1, 1x#2 1xCSM 0xCGM (probably worst attempt ever) 0xCGM (still > 1/16") 3xCSM 0xSM (1/8") Session stopped. A bit frustated I rested a bit and did some bending instead. All with IM Pads, no rubber bands, just wrapped them up and bent them. 2x6mmx7" 5x7mmx7" 1x7,6mmx7" Video The bending felt quite good today. No pain in the palms or index/middle fingers but more important: Absolutely no pain in my left upper arm!!

Florian Kellersmann
Congrats! Do you get the CGM this year? One week to go...
FrankyBoy
Thanks Flo. A couple of weeks ago I was very sure to get that gripper down that year, but its a mean one, especially that last 1/16" feels very uncomfortable for me. But no doubt I'll close that thing in the next weeks. Btw, just got some new toys as Xmas gifts: An IM Tug #6 and #7. Very nice little grippers. #6 was not too hard for index and middle but I'm a good 1/8" off with the #7. You can train each adjacent pair of fingers with them!! Even if the #6 is too had for me for the two little fingers I can work with the ring finger and the middle finger on the #6. Cool.
