Douglas Carney
Half York 75 Rows – Endurance Exercise 03-17-2024 Only 36.4 lb...so the row isn't the problem. It's all about grip endurance through a dynamic exercise. Musical Inspiration: "Orion" by Metallica from the album "Master of Puppets" released in March 1986.

Had an appt Friday and doc said it's healing ok but to keep it clean/dry another week. I have another appt end of this week so I'll ask about when I can start lifting again. At this point I feel like it's more of an "inconvenience" than a "problem." The first few days my index finger was throbbing. But I haven't even taken an ibuprofren yet today. What a difference a week makes!

Loaded up exactly 50.0 lb on the dot again for another attempt to add my name to the record list on their website. ... You know an implement is difficult if I'm within 9lb of @Eric Roussin on it...hahaha

I like that because I can start loosening my finger and thumb back up after two weeks "frozen" in place. Asked him about Maryland's Strongest Hands. He said he does deadlifts so he understood the axle and saxon concept. But he wasn't optimistic about my index finger being up for it. I'm just going to wait and see. I have another appointment with him in two weeks.
Douglas Carney
Little bit of IMTUG work with the injured right hand last night while watching Brian Shaw take a tour (and do some hub lifts) with Efren Lifts' amazing vintage weights collection. Took it nice and slow. IMTUG #1 pinkie and ring for 10, middle for 10, index for 1. IMTUG #2 I did the same but that felt like plenty. Nothing crazy. Just trying to loosen things up after being splinted/bandaged for two straight weeks. Even now just sitting here it's challenging to fully make a fist with my index finger because the tendon tightened up. I have to open and close it a few times to get things moving again.

Douglas Carney
Reviewed some videos from this afternoon and nothing jumped out as "YouTube" worthy. Loaded up 54.0 lb (total) on the Rolling Thumber and all it got was a little air under it a couple of times. It's a fun kind of frustration because it feels like it's right there...wanting/waiting to fly off the ground. But it didn't (this time, anyway). Not very exciting to watch when you know how it ends. Lifted my half 90 blob to lockout again but the NextGen half 100 barely broke the ground (AGAIN). Although this time I did face pick it...so...yay? Finally I re-did an old "inverted 60 lb York roundhead dumbbell deadlift" video so that my thumb and fingers were nowhere near the flat part OR the lettering...but the camera battery cut out as I was walking over to weigh it. The full dumbbell thing was mildly cool...50...straight to 55...and then 60. But (a) I'll be more excited when I have a video of me lifting a York 65 or hex 65 and (b) I'm a little beat after a long day/week and simply don't feel like downloading/syncing/saving/uploading everything right now.

I especially liked that the guy uses all of the equipment in training, rather than only staring at it on the wall. And the 'Iron Guide' book he made was an excellent idea as well. A similar book for grippers would be cool. @Cannon @degradated @Alex K Some people that I think would like this video. Saw Matt was already doing research on Tetting. So that's a start...

Douglas Carney
Right Hand Recovery Test 03-25-2024 Quick trip up to New York during the kids' Spring Break. One of the many fun things was this cool park/playground by our hotel. Random urge to test my right hand's recovery with this piece of playground equipment. Nor sure I was even using it properly. But the key thing is my right thumb and index finger were generally ok with this little experiment. So it seemed like a good sign.

Douglas Carney
Right Hand Recovery – 2" Napalm Nightmare Test 03-27-2023 Decided to push a bit and see how my right hand felt using a 2" Napalm Nightmare handle. Not surprisingly, my right hand has some work to catch up. Barely broke the ground with only 160lb added. Musical Inspiration: "Go Forth and Die" and "Face Fisted" by Dethklok from "The Dethalbum" released in September 2007.
