EricMilfeld
Thanks, guys! Bob, does it count if one hand was overhand? Euro Pinch 193.9 x 5 203.9 x 3 I then tried two attempts in the neighborhood of 15 - 20 pounds more, but didn't even get air. My thumb webbing is kind of messed up and sore. I'm thinking the v-bar training may be hurting my pinch. I'll drop the v-bar and see what happens. Bench Press 228 x 11 Blob 50 Left: X 0 x 1 x 2 negatives Right: X 1 x 3 Bent a DC0H horseshoe. Hammer Curls 60 x 10 each hand Grippers Left: 113 lb. x 7 parallel reps Right: 113 lb. x 1 no-set 166 lb. x almost 2 reps in a parallel choker 143 lb. x 1/16" shy with credit card set

EricMilfeld
Are all the grippers from this workout #3s? Kevin, here's what the grippers are: 166 = Elite 161 = adjustable Elite 157 = PDA 143 = #3 113 = #2 Other than my filed down grippers, these are the only ones I own. Last night: Double Overhand 2" Axle Deadlift 325 x 3 345 x 1.5 1 5/8" Dumbbell Rows 150 x 9 (each hand) These make for a good grip workout. Grippers 157 x 1 x 3 Bending 605 lb. 6" crs Hammers Right: 16 lb. x 1 x 3 Left: 16 lb. x 0 x 2 12 lb. x
nockowt1
Those dumbell rows are insane. Doing 150 with a regular dumbell is impressive enough, but using a thick handle is crazy. Have you ever competed in strongman? I think you would do well (especially with your deadlift ability).

I would probably do well against guys of a similar weight, but I would get killed in the press movements, regardless of bodyweight. The most I've ever pushpressed is 220, I think. I weighed about 205 at that time. I'm down to 195 now.
EricMilfeld
I just played around a little bit last night with grippers and hammers: - practiced setting my #161 gripper a few times - #10 hammer for 5 right hand, 7 reps left hand I've also rounded off the edges on my 2.25" wooden pinch block and will start training it to save my hands from all the wear and tear from the actual Euro Pinch. nockowt1
That is a brutal looking deadlift session. Doing some thickbar work after is insane.
EricMilfeld
That is a brutal looking deadlift session. Doing some thickbar work after is insane. Yeah, it was pretty tough. I haven't done barbell deads in forever. It's been high rep axle deadlifts for several months.
nockowt1
After doing so much thickbar stuff does lifting with a regular bar feel easier?
EricMilfeld
After doing so much thickbar stuff does lifting with a regular bar feel easier? I felt a little rusty on my standard barbell form last night, but yes, it did feel easier. There's more spring off the floor and the weight travels just a little bit closer to you, being a thinner bar.
odin
Great-looking DL workout Eric. It's very interesting to read your workout log; you've improved a lot since you first started posting on the GB.
EricMilfeld
Great-looking DL workout Eric. It's very interesting to read your workout log; you've improved a lot since you first started posting on the GB. Thank you, Bob. I think it's great how middle aged guys like us can continue to improve on grip for years and years... Tonight: - I tried out the Milfeld Mega Medley (Show of Hands Grip Cup event) for the first time. It's a lot of fun! As it turns out, the 5 minute time limit I assigned is perfect. I didn't rush it, nor did I drag my feet, but I managed all but one discipline in 4:35. The 12 lb. front lever with a 16" grip still stumps me. The two card tears ate up the most time. The nail break took only about 10 or fifteen seconds.
FrankyBoy
Great DL session indeed. Do you still work on the one hand 100# Pinch?
EricMilfeld
Great DL session indeed.Do you still work on the one hand 100# Pinch? Thanks, Franky. Yes, it's still a goal of mine. My thumb webbing has taken a thrashing lately so I've cut out my one hand Euro for the time being. My primary focus right now is getting ready for next month's contest.
