Training For The #4

Thanks for the encouragement. Open hand stuff i'm alright on generally - my RT is decent, 100kg and my wide pinch are above average etc.. for some reason i can't close a lot without using a parallel set. Practice is probably a good idea autolupus, you're right. Even though i don't have small hands by any means wide set work seems like a fight to stop the gripper from slipping around and that takes away any real crushing effort.

Today's session -

LH only, RH is torn to bits from last nights stuff lol

#3x1,1,1,1 all wider than parallel sets

BBSExvn

BBSExneg (almost held shut)

BBSExneg (so close to holding it shut. Probably opened 1mm or so)

#3x1

short but sweet.

I think its just lack of CCS and TNS work that is keeping you away from a #3 CCS close, but your focus is the #4 so keep training the way your training Sam! I wanna see you crush that sucker!

Great gripper work man! Repping the RB300 is good stuff. Don't sweat that CCS stuff too much unless you want to cert on the #4. I don't doubt that you'll close it with your work ethic.

Chris, Vikings, Bencrush, thank you all for your kind posts. I really appreicate all the encouragement. I do eventually want to cert on the #4, but to be totally honest i am a long long way off closing my gr8 #4 never mind doing a CCS with it. I have given the other #4 some decent squeezes though.

Some really busy days at work recently so lifting has suffered anyway i managed to cram some in today,

weights

axle militaries - 50kgx10, 90kgx3, 50kgx10, 50kgx10

axle rows - 50kgx10x3

axle curls - 50kgx5x2

also did grippers, LH only. Everything tonight was done INVERTED.

#3x3

#4xbraced close (PR). First #4 close holding the spring. Then held shut for a few secs with 1 hand until it opened then held at 1/8'' for a long time. Felt strong.

#4xneg. Didn't managed to hold it shut this time.

BBSExattempt. 3mm off. Fairly tough, and my hands are gone from the #4 stuff.

RB330Nx1,1,1,1,1,1 think they were all closed if not all VVN.

Great job getting that #4 closed even if it was braced. Thats one step closer to your goal.

Good gripper work Sam. I hope your pinkie heals soon so you can get back to normal.

Thanks dude i hope it heals soon aswell - at the moment i've got a deep gash right where the handle of the gripper would make contact. Bit of a shame cos my right hand was catching up nicely.

Yeah I noticed you were making significant progress on your right, too bad, hope it heals quick.

the RB300 attempt. I've already closed (and repped this) inverted with my LH. Tried to close it with the RH again tonight - after having shut it last week - and just, just missed it.

Based on the 'average' older black springed #3 and my #4 i would rate this at around 3.6.
