Mikael Siversson
Magnus is a great strongman. He never asked to be the subject of this silly thread. Show him some respect and close this thread.
lifesnotfair
Mikael: I agree with that about Magnus, he did NOT say this, just some fans throwing wild statements, but the statements are not his. I've been trying to find out, and it seems Magnus, when he was Swede champion, once participated in the World's AW championship, one held in Brazil maybe? I hear he took 4th. Another fun story from a guy with over 20+ years in Arm Wrestling, who HAS been World Champion, and comes from a family of AW'ers, is this: "Back in the day when Brzenk and Johnny Walker were going at it there was a group of Georgia armwrestlers that were all pretty much tops in the game. They had some kind of get together with the powers that be in the strongman circles and rather than just pounce on those guys they decided to let their smallest representative pull with the group of big boys. His name was Bert Whitfield and from what I heard I dont think any of the people there could even move his arm. He weighed 165 pounds at the time." Strongman and armwrestling are two COMPLETELY different things, that is a fact.

tukkergrip
I want to know who is this Sri Chinmoy?OMG dude, this is a disaster!!!!! He is the ruler of the worlds!! the curler of the wrist's!! the presser of the legs!!! (or wasn't that pat robertson ) just google wrist curl and u will see him wrist curling huge ass weight!!! LOL, I just tried to picture Sri locking hands with Brzenk, looking all concentrated, putting on his awful facial expression as he does with every lift, looking like he's about to die, letting out some horrible screams, then actually moving Brzenk's hand 0.0004mm and only because he started to apply preassure faster, and then claim he actually beat him, and that those fractions of a milimeter were the full ROM of the armwrestling match, yeah, like his "wrist curls", hell yeah :D.. Alawadhi
Is that guy for real!!! The weight looks HUGE on his wrist curl. But it seemed he only holds the weight on his knees without moving the weight. Edited November 14, 2006 by Alawadhi

Brzenk
Cool site….I think I would be the favorite. My brother Bill pulled him a few years back when he was in Sweden. Bill won easily. My current weight is 209….95 kg. I’m going to make it a point to close the number 3….just so I can say I have a strong hand….. Take care all.
lifesnotfair
Wow, if that truly was John, then it could be because I linked this thread to an Armwrestling Board where he posts frequently. Heh, if Bill did beat Magnus, that goes to show exactly what I've been saying in this thread - the gym lifts don't mean that much in AW!! Wow. Brzenk
Thanks for the Welcome. There is more talk and good info on here about armwrestling than the Northeast Armwrestling Board. ....armwrestling is a very static strength sport unlike Strongman where they are actually using those very large muscles to move something. Plus I think the bigger and stronger someone is... the more danger of tearing connective tissue. Of course unless they work into the sport slowly to build this strength.... I dunno if you'll read this....but I got some questions.... Have you ever tried to max out on a static hold for lets say Hammer curls or any exercise......and if so what did you get? Also I made a thread in another topic and asked what gripper could people close with there wrist curled......I am wondering what you can do? Or have you ever tried..... To me it feels good like I would be strengthening my hand for a hook to not get peeled open......If you tried it or can tell me what you think...or if I am just wasting my time with the exercise.... Also welcome to the board and if you see this Thanks for taking the time to read my questions.
mmainlands
I am the one that had posted in the old "ask John" section of armwrestling.com years ago, about what John thought of Magnus. He gave a very humble reply, and said that he personally had no knowledge of him, but had no doubt that WSM level power combined with aw experience would be formidable. What seemed to be John's prevailing opinion on most questions was that the best training tool to become a better armwrestler was to practice armwrestling, there was no better substitute! Welcome John, and I must say that you were the only strict armwrestler on Letterman a few years back. That was crazy, with the table loose and technique all over the place with the other guys. Mikael Siversson
Yes welcome to the board. I don't know much about armwrestling but I have noticed that I do far better now that I only do specialised wrist and grip strength training (for grip competitions) than I did a few years ago when I did regular bodybuilding/powerlifting training (in spite of being much lighter now).
