Sledge work, lots of it..

7/11

SM 5x1, filed #2 10x1, Thumb clamp 5x1

7/12

Hang snatch, suitcase deads, stiff leg deads, back squat, cable rows

Suitcase deads are tough, did them explosivly, 135x2x10

Worked up to 2x5 on stiff legs with 255 ( 3 35#ers a side, good stretch)

Also trying to explode off the ground, looking forward to the winter months so I can really work on my regular deads

My back feels a bit like it does after some hard throwing so I think this was a good workout

Grippers: SM 2x1

Blockweights in the yard

30#er clean and jerks, 35#ers farmers walk til could barely lift em, then 30# er til i could barely lift it.

Levering, tossing, and more tossing, I'm getting so many different ways to toss/catch, used a 1.5" pipe with 5.5# and 10# plate, great wrist workout, every possible angle hammered

Grippers: SM 6x1

blockweights: 35x1 5 sec. hold

35# hex +5.5# 5x 5 sec. holds

Grippers felt strong, all good solid closes, ready to try some #3 closes with the hose clamp probably next week. Been eating a bit less and trying to work in a bit of excercise to slim down a bit, haven't had any beer in a couple weeks. Tried yoga on thursday, yes I'm a puss, but the only guy in a room full of good looking ladies ain't no fool. Thats a tough workout, liked it a lot. Will try to add a bit more cardio but don't really know what I want to do, maybe just mix it up. Gotta get on a scale, was 260 a month or so ago, feeling about 259.5 right now ;)

Dude, you're not a puss. Yoga can be very hard! And those authentic masters of it can do some mind-blowing stuff. The chicks are a nice bonus! Flexibility is a hugely valuable thing, and yoga's inherently calming too. I always feel like endorphins are getting released when I do some solid stretching.

Grats on the staying away from the beer. Seriously, when I drink a beer, it's like I swallowed the can whole and it pops up under my bellybutton, and a six-pack is like I'm wearing a grenade belt under my skin. Beer seems to have some extra magical calories a vengeful god put in there, or something. I've been staying away from them for a while and been losing some flab because of it. And damn, I like it.

No, not my first, i did it a while back, don't remember how many times, but never beyond parallel without a choker. I was just a hair away with parallel set/ no choker, thats after I went through most of the KTA program. Grippers had dropped off since then and I've been trying to recover, I really like my new training program, not that its a rigid program of any kind. I think the blockweights, with thumb clamp work and moderate amounts of singles, will get me there soon enough. Will just slowly keep adding volume.

Congrats on the #3 close..even in a choker that is awesome!!

Just did 3 sets of 100 skips with my new weighted (.5 pound) jump rope. Kitchen cardio! Will start slow, maybe shoot for some 2 minute sets, maybe daily or everyother day at least. Shoulda gotten a longer one, this ones 9 feet, 10 woulda been nice.

Bends 10 x 5" grade 2 (easy)

1 5/16x6" grade 2 initial kink on thigh, didnt realize I coulda probably got it unbraced, wanted to test it out, have no idea strength, guessing grade 8 1/4x6" kink, grade 5 1/4x6" crushdown, probably get some 7"ers for volume red training, and some grade 5s, maybe some 8s, got to start at least getting in some bending every week.

#3 attempts in choker 2/3 right, 0/3 left

35# hex deadlift up and down, switch hands, repeat til failure

Thats a kinda cool exercise

Thumb clamp 10x1

#3 felt real tough on third attempts, hard creaking and stiff, played with it a bit afterward and wd40'd it, hopefully will be better next time

#3 attempts in choker 2/3 right 0/3 left should have been 3/3 right

didn't feel like I had it in my hand right

SM closes 3/3, 2/3

35# hex alternating deadlifts til failure 21 total, 11 right, 10 left

I like these a bunch! Wonder what doing 100 would feel like?

Big T-- thanks for the comments, I am really enjoying this effective and laid back training approach, I think with a little help from good old KTA I could have the #3 without choker much faster but I like this and I mostly grip for enjoyment, and I don't enjoy that KTA madness much.

Throwing

Worked 56 WFD, Braemar  , WFH, 28 WFD

Got that thumb lock down, 28 WFD went great

Would be happy with PRs in 28 WFD, and light hammer, maybe even 56 WFD next week. And if I'm lucky a huge tornado will move in right before the caber, or better yet I will actually turn one. Hopefully they use light cabers in Washington..

Abandoned my stone, I was angry with it, will have to go back and get it

Grippers: Super master singles in choker x20, got 19 with left hand

35# hex alternating deadlifts 26 total reps PR!

Even though I just started doing these I'm still happy with the PR cuz I fought for the last 5 or 6. 50 reps by end of the year?? Anyone reading this should try this exercise at least once, great finisher, humor me..

Be kinda cool to have a little friendly competition with someone of similar strength.

RT 100x1, 120x1, 130 5x1

Sadly I still really suck at this.

Thinking real hard about it's removal from my training.

Simplify it, grippers and blockweights will be my focus.

I can't understand why I'm not improving on this lift, felt strong today, the handle even felt a bit slimmer, struggled to get a single with 135, I think that was my original max when I got the handle for x-mas. Probably will see it on the trading forum soon..
