honk
Man your deadlift is on a rise! 540 is solid, you were around 175ish right?
JasonL
well, 8 finger deadlift is around 540pds. Yeah, I bounce around 173-175ish or so.
honk
Why do you pull less with a normal Grip? What exactly is a 8 finger deadlift? Just a dead with a thumbless grip?

Jason, that is a huge pull, what's your best on the axle (couldn't find when I ran a search in your log)?
JasonL
Yeah, its using Ironminds Eagle Loops. No thumbs, only fingers. Since the loops are a little long, which they slide on the bar, then on your fingers, your back is positioned for in a 45 degree angle, so one can lift more than regular dead, since one has to bend forward more in a regular dead. JasonL
axle, hmm, never tried it
honk
Axle deads bring my Handstrength faster up than anything else. But they ")%§ up my deadlift form, because I have to pull more slowly, and maybe because the groove is slightly different. So I just do holds now. odin
axle, hmm, never tried it Jason, I've tried the axle (2-inch diameter thickbar) twice myself, once at Scott George's and once at Chris Rice's Gripmas Carol grip contest. I can pull the same DO on an Olympic bar as I can on the axle (actually I did 303 at Gripmas and my best since I returned to grip was 295 on the Oly bar). However, there are guys who can pull 500-600+ who can't do anywhere near that on the axle, some lift several hundred pounds less.I just thought it would be interesting to know what you could do on the axle, given your big DL #s. For me my body is the weak link (I've started doing more overall body work); my hands can hold more using the axle than I can pull from the ground with an oly bar. JasonL
I have nice and small hands, which makes thick bar REALLY tough
odin
I have nice and small hands, which makes thick bar REALLY tough Mine are ~7 & 5/8, but the axle feels better than the oly bar in my hands. I like the feeling of a thickbar for some strange reason, perhaps the way the weight is distributed over a larger surface area?
