Your close doing the #3

congrats.

Me Iam fighting with the last 1/8 inch from force closing the

#3.  But I feel stronger then ever before but within a month or

two I will force close the # 3 then the nest goal is the #4.

hey mooinabc1 have you seasoned your #3 yet?

i came across a thread about seasoning grippers the day.

it said that a gripper will be seasoned after i think it was 100 - 120 coplete closes.

i know i dont have that many closes, maybe 30 - 50.

you ever think about seasoning yours? i know you are very inventive and would develop a good devise to season your gripper. caus chest pressing that thing is hard too.

Get a large diameter chisel or pipe that will barely fit thru the

gripper spring. Then put it on the floor stand on pipe with one foot

and press down on gripper handle with other for 100 times...it

is now seasoned. I basically got this tip from Clay.

couple days back i got 10 reps right handed with my 220lb gripper

thats a 1 rep increase than my record. when i was doing 9 reps i was closing my #3 on the odd day.

soooooo after the talk about seasoning grippers i went and seasoned mine, i didnt get around to making a device (to lazy) i just put it inbetween my legs while sitting and used my hands plus legs to close it. i got it for 70 closes within about an hr. couldnt do it 70 straiht caus it was hurting my hands.

next day (today) i picked up my #3 and without a warmup i was gunna give it a shot, what would ya know.....i set it and closed it. i paused for 2 mins..........set and closed again!!!!! now that is a record, i have never been able to close my #3 for 2 closes in a row, after the first close im usualy burnt.

now heres the question............is this caus i seasoned my gripper? or caus i got stronger? well its a fact that i got stronger, plus i had my #3 for almost a year now, buuuut i think seasoning it helped just a bit i guess

ok ok ok. same day as the above post, i went to the gym after the 2 #3 closes.

came home ate and this time warmed up and now tried the #3 again. i aaaaaaaaalmost got 2 reps!!!!! this is great.

on a side not i got 2 reps left handed with my 220lb a pr also

im not sure if yesterday was just a good day or not yet. but so far when i try my #3 closes its always an ''attempt''. when im closing the #3 consistently then ill try strapholds with it.

hey mooinabc1 have you tried force closing your #3 yet with both hands and then holding it for as long as possible with just the one hand?

ps my training realy picked up after you sent me the 220lb you made in the mail. thanks again.

Yes I force the #3 but it has extended handles on and easy to close but

I can hold for 15 seconds so far but I test myself on Nov.1,o4 to see how

I can hold then. Im about 1/8 inch away from close it. I think if I do the hold

for 2 minutes then I can close the #3.

2 minutes? you realy think youll need to hol it that long before your closing the #3, i think you wont need that long.

i didnt do my #3 left handed for 14 reps, i meant to say my #2

that would be a good increase though :blush

after 1 day of rest

#3 right handed - 2 reps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! after the second rep i tried to get a 3rd but the gripper just flew open.

left hand 220lb - 5 reps!!!!!!!!

ok same day as my 2 reps on my #3, i went to the gym got back and just couldnt resist trying the #3 again.

now for some this would not be a bad thing but for me, i usualy do 1 set a night, so if i do 2 sets im increasing my training by 100% witch could be overtraining for me.

so i got only one rep this time. hands felt tired too. its so tempting to try multiple #3 closes through out the day but i have to resist and stick to whats got me here so far.

so hard though

right handed - 220lb i got 16 reps!!!!!!! this is insane, thats a 5 rep increase.

left handed - #2 i got 14 reps. tied another pr. my third time getting that amount.

i havent tried the #3 since that day i got 2 reps.

right now my training is like this -

day 1 i do reps with the hardest gripper i can rep.

day 2 i do i do attempts with my hardest gripper. eg my #3

repeat for 6 days then 1 day off. 1 set a night

so tonight is #3 again.

keeping a journal is great. for example -

#3 right handed - MISS - waited 5 mins tried again and got it, but it was TOUGH

220lb left handed i got 5 BARELY.

so this drop in strength tells me either it was just a bad day or i needed a break.

well i look at the day i got my #3 for 2 reps and that was coming off an off dayt.

so im not to worried. im gunna change my routine to 4 on 1 off instead of 6 on 1 off.

tomorrow im gunna do my rep day then take the day off and continue as normal but with the rest day coming sooner.

#3 right handed - i got 2 reps and then even went for the third since the first 2 were some what easy. the third i didnt get though.

220 left handed - i got 5 reps, felt kinda hard

hey mooinabc1, i just read that email. i think ill wait till i can get about 8 reps before i file down that 220 any more. thanks for the idea again. :D

#3 right handed - 3 reps

heres the thing though, my first rep i set it a litle too deep, so im not sure if i can call this 3 reps. the handles touched 3 times yes but still...

220 left handed - 3 reps!!!! hmmmmmm left hand strength has gone down since that day i got 6 reps on it. <----- not good, not good at all :(

#3 right handed - 4 reps!!!!!!!!!!! and unlike my previous workout these reps where easy.

220lb left handed - 4 reps, i aaaaaalmost got 5 reps. but you know..... almost dosnt get you very far.

so right now ive altered my training a bit, im doing #3 closes right handed every day, not working with my 220 right handed at this point. just left handed. still one set a day.

takes alot of will power to do just one set though, you have nooooo idea how bad i wanna pick up the grippers throughout the day and just give em a good squeeze.

i think im gunna pick up a #4 maybe in a month or 2. will have to season that sucker first though caus i tried a #4 in a store a few months back and i couldnt even BUDGE it.
