Today's session: grippers

Ivanko Super Gripper:

Warming up:

(1,3)-(1,5)-(1,7)-(1,8)-(1,9)-(1,10)

I didn't do any negatives today because I tore my pinky pretty badly during my previous session.

Coc no.4:

4 attempts

Ivanko Super Gripper:

I was on a roll this session I just kept destroying settings I would normally miss after my attempts.

I wanted to do 4 attempts but I ended up doing 5 with a (7,10) 125 LB RGC close for my final attempt which was a huge suprise because I expected having to lower the resistance in order to hit all 4 closes but instead I destroyed this setting which was like 4 settings above the setting I was planning on closing this session.

Recovery:

100 LB gripper:

3x failure

Extensor "bucket":

3x failure

Nice man, its a great feeling when you exceed your expectations.. I wish every workout was that way! But when you set high standards for you self it's just not gonna happen.

Thanks, it definitely is. Same here!

It will happen eventually just keep training hard and set long term goals.

Short term goals only lead to frustration.

Nice session Erik!

I think I never asked, how do you train with the ISG? Mimicking a torsion spring gripper, or like an "upside down" gripper?

I never hold it upside down because this makes the gripper WAY easier.

At first I would explode into the handles from an open hand position but nowadays I try to mimick a torsion spring gripper so I just put my fingers on the handle and try to explode from a paused position similar to how one would train a no set with torsion spring grippers.

I also train full closes now I no longer stop when I hear a click.

Today's session: Grippers

Ivanko Super Gripper:

Warming up:

(1,3)-(1,5)-(1,7)-(1,8)-(1,9)-(1,10)

CoC no.3.5:

4 attempts

The 3.5 feels like a joke to me now I can almost close it!

Coc no. 3.5:

4 negatives

It's time for the final push now!

I am going to start using the no.4 twice a week from now on.

Once I am close to destroying my no.4 I am going to get the hardest no.4 I can find in a choker and start training the end range.

Then I will get certified on all 3!

Recovery:

100 LB Gripper:

3x failure

Extensor "bucket":

3x failure

Big man great work on the #4. I remember trying a few of those paperweights few years ago- enormous respect for those grippers!

The no.4 is a monster I could barely move the damn thing the first time I tried it.

I usually get a lot of movement on a gripper after a few sessions of getting used to it but I honestly didn't expect to experience the same thing with a no.4 all I can say is that I am incredibly happy with the progress I am making.

My grippers aren't rated but my no 3.5 feels like a Trainer compared to my No.4.

I am a few cm away from closing it.

( a lot less than a CCS to the naked eye)

The very first time I tried it which was after doing a single on my 3.5 I was barely able to move it.

I don't know how long it is going to take but if it keeps going this well I will soon start doing negatives with my no.4.

Negatives work so well for me that it could very well be a matter of weeks after that.

Today's session: Grippers

Ivanko Super Gripper:

Warming up:

(1,3)-(1,5)-(1,7)-(1,8)-(1,9)-(1,10)

CoC no.4:

4 no set attempts

I am still about 30mm away.

Coc no. 3.5:

5 negatives

I ended up doing 5 negatives instead of 4 because I messed up my set on the first attempt.

I can now fully control these they no longer feel heavy and I can hold them closed for the full 5 seconds after my attempts on the no.4.

Recovery:

100 LB gripper:

3x failure

Extensor "bucket":

3x failure

CoC no.4:

4 negatives

I was able to hold it closed for the full 5 seconds on 2 of the 4 negatives!!!

The other two popped open but that's fine because closing the no.4 is a world class feat.

My hands were smoked after these negatives so I didn't do anything else afterwards.
