JohanB
Well. Due to a back breaking amount of work so far this summer and me neglecting to eat properly, my progress has been somewhat slow. I did hit a PR in the pin pull today. Did 305kg with the bar well below my kneecap. Since I suck at pin pulls, I know that what ever I can pull from that position, I can also deadlift. The lift was done with belt only. I´m going for a 320kg pin pull before I try my max in the deadlift again.
jpmmkrahling
I still have not done any DL in a while, and nothing even close to work those muscles. But Eric Milfred suggested i try the mixed grip, he was supprised to hear i did 475 with double overhand. So tonight i did 380, 430 & 500. The 500 is my PR by 25 lbs. And finally my grip was not my limiting factor (because of the mixed grip) I think this is re-motivating me to do that deadlift program and really make a good push at
rico300zx
Guys ill be back in as soon as my class is over in a week, only 5 more tests, I was at 500 6 weeks ago but who konws now. Rico
JohanB
Did 310 in the pinpull today (bar aprox 2" below the knee), and I came within 2" from locking out 320kg. Belt only, no wraps, no deadlift suit, slippery bar (almost blank). This was the first event in a strongman comp I did today. Do not ask how I did, please... so many mistakes... rico300zx
That's a lot of weight , but what's a pin pull? Rico
JohanB
That's a lot of weight , but what's a pin pull?Rico The barbell does not rest on the floor but is elevated by placing it for example in a powerrack or on some crates. In this case the center of the barbell was 42cm (16,5") over the ground.
tselegala
Hi guys! i'd like to join the race. I did 500 a month ago and tried 545 and got it up to the knees. I'm doing a program now and i'll be doing 90% for a rep in 4 weeks but...i'll do a 100% instead. Can we use a belt for the max or is it strictly raw? The belt does add some pounds to your max but it also helps protect your spine so go for it. Then again, this is not my race..

BigJan85
Sorry fellas I've been off the board for quite awhile now as I haven't had a working computer. I have been doing moderate deadlifting and within the past few weeks I've incorporated rack pulls into my training. I usually work up to about 670 or so from the knee which feels mighty heavy for me. I noticed that these are making regular deadlifts from the floor feels quite a bit lighter as they should and last night I ended with 475 for a triple. I would say that I could pull 520-525 right now for single but Ill test that out in a couple weeks and post the results. Any progress from you guys?? Its been a bit since the last post. Also Alexis, what did u end up pulling when you maxed after the 4th week of ur program?
JohanB
I´m still in. I´ve had some problems with my lower back th entire summer but I recently payed a little visit to a guy that took care of that. He stretched and massaged my glutes, lower back, hamstrings and front thighs. It hurt like hell when he decided that I had some trigger points in my glutes that needed a little attention. He basically jammed his elbows in there and pressed down so hard I thought I was going to cry out for mommy but man, what a difference it made! Any how. Since my lower back has been beaten up latley my pull from the floor has suffred som I´m workning on that right now. I´m also working on my squats again. After 10 months of rehab due to a torn muscle and some other complications I´m back up to 250kg in the squat, just 20kg shy of my previous PR. Hopefully this will add some more strength to my deadlift. I will not max out in the deadlift for quite some time. I´m working on other exercises right now with the purpose of increasing my deadlift. BigJan85
Tim, Yeah man def not too late to get in on this race. Glad to have ya with us....keep us posted on your progress. Are u using any kinda program?
timstruse
Thanks for letting me in on the action! The program (beginning 9/28) will be one pulling session per week over a 5 week cycle, linear periodization. Week 4 is 1RM, Week 5 is deloading. Sets and reps are per Prilepin's chart. Depending on how I feel, I may finish each session with some heavier lockouts/holds from the rack. If it works well, I'll repeat again for the next 5 weeks. I'm also squatting once per week and one day per week devoted to ab/core work. Thanks again, and good luck to everyone. Tim, Yeah man def not too late to get in on this race. I'm poorly built for squatting and benching - long torso, long arms, short legs. Hard to distinguish from a primate or cro-magnon. -Tim
BigJan85
Scott, progress is a lil slower than I thought it would be partly due to not deadlifting as intense as I should be lately. Im going for 525 on monday though. If I remember right u were tryin to hit 600 right? How did that turn out?
JohanB
Oh man I completely forgot about this. How is everybody's progress so far? Still got some issues with my lower back. My right knee seems to be almost fine right now though (partial muscle tear, some damage to the tendons etc) so I´m working on getting my squat back up again and hopefully the deadlift will follow. I did 250kg last monday in the squat, previous PR is 270kg and I will nail that next year and then the hunt for 300 is back on track again. Still aiming for a 317,5kg (700lbs) deadlift. Due to the recent problems with my lower back, I will most likley use a belt for this. My current PR is 300kg with no belt. Bodyweight is 105kg at the moment.
