Guest Bullitt
Thanks Manthos! So tonight was kettlebell night again. Started off with one arm DLs with my homemade axle. B/H: 110X1 160X1 160X1 R/H: 190X1 PR 200Xmiss - Got it to my knees and it felt like I might lose it so I figured I better not drop 200lbs on my wife's floor. Then Kettlebell hell. Bumped up the reps each set by 5 from last workout. warmup: 1 arm swings with 20lb KB : 1X10 each arm. Then went to work with my 60lb bell: Swings: B/H: 1X25 R/H: 1X25 L/H: 1X25 R/H: 1X25 L/H: 1X25 B/H: 1X25 Cardio is getting as much of a workout as my muscles. Not sure how I'm ever gonna get to my goal of 80 rep sets with each arm, but I will find a way. Side bends with 60lb bell: 1X15 each side. After that it was time for a shower and Monday Night Football.

Guest Bullitt
Good night tonight. Finally hit my seated press goal. Today's workout from pins at eye level. warm up: 1X10 each arm with 20lb kettlebells Work sets: 115X8 155X6 185X3 205X1 225X1 PR Then did some side laterals with 20lb kettlebells: 4X10
Guest Bullitt
Another night of pulling. Pulled a new PR with each hand on one hand axle deadlifts. Worked my way up to 195# on right hand and 165# on left. Then I switched to the oly bar for some DO pulls. 205X5 275X3 Really tried to get a big belly full of air like Rick suggested in his DL video. Pulled something in my abs. 325X1 380X1 This went up a lot better than I expected. Once I get my form down I should be good for more. This is all the weight I have right now. Then did bent over axle rows: 110 X 8 180 X 8 180 X 8 180 X 8 Hope this ab thing doesn't end up being anything serious.
Guest Bullitt
I got a new 54mm 2HP trainer from Chris Rice yesterday, so of course I had to try it out. Awesome piece of equipment. The rounded edges let you train longer without skin tears and I'm hoping that training on this will translate to big numbers on the euro in my next contest. Had never really trained 2HP before. The setup is very slick right now. Once it seasons, I think big numbers are coming. Considering the slickness, I pulled much higher numbers than I thought I would. 54mm 2HP block trainer: 102.7 X1 (implement weighs exactly 12.70lb on postal scale) 137.7 X5X1 147.7 X1 162.7 X2X1 165.2 X1 170.2 X1 175.2 X1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vE4-AyyG_K0 Then I did some blob work with Eaton's 42.4# blob: blob: each hand X1 blob high pull: each hand X1 blob + 10lb: RX1, LXmiss (knee height) blob + 10lb: RX1, LXmiss blob + 10lb: RX1, LXVN Edited October 2, 2009 by Bullitt
Guest Bullitt
Yesterday: Bunch of gripper closes for RRBT. Then hit the kettlebells. Warmup: 10 swings each arm with 20lb KB Work sets with 60lb KB: Swings: B/H 1X20 R/H 1X40 PR L/H 1X40 PR Then did some wrist work with my 8 lb sledge: 1X5 levers to face at 31" each hand 1X5 levers to face at end of handle each hand Then did a bunch of sledge deadlift work. Probably 10 attempts each hand. Worked my way down the handle. 24" for left and 29" for right were my best.

Rick Walker
Looks like your knees locked back way too soon. Could be because you didnt focus on driving your feet through the ground. Practice!!!! It is awesome that your wife lets you do that right in the house.

Practice!!!! It is awesome that your wife lets you do that right in the house. Yea, I really felt all the weight shift to my back half way up. I had been concentrating on pushing with my legs on all the weights up until that one and the form stayed fairly solid (maintained the ramp). On this one, my main thought shifted to hold on and don't drop the weight in the house. It went up for the PR, but I'm pretty sure if I can keep my form tight I have a lot more in me. I will keep working on it. Thanks for all your help Rick! And yea, Melissa is freakin awesome. Pretty much my reason for getting up in the morning. The guy that lives below us isn't all that excited about the lifting right above him though. Edited October 7, 2009 by Bullitt
FrankyBoy
Congrats Mike, thats a good weight on the axle. Concerning the lift itself: I'm pretty much in the same boat, my DLs do look very much the same. For me the legs and the tighs are FAR behind the back in strength. So on heavy DLs my legs almost straighten when the weight is still on the ground. Do you think u have the same issues? Are you still worried about your crush strength and the MM2? Maybe your latest training interferes with the grippers? If thats the case no worries, just focus again on grippers shortly before your MM2 schedule and you'll kill it. Whats up with you daughter? I did read sth in the status listbox about a hospital visist?

I did read sth in the status listbox about a hospital visist? Thanks for asking Franky. She's still in the hospital. She is bipolar and had a bit of an emotional breakdown. We're hoping she will be home by this weekend. I think it's more of a mental issue on the deads. When I concentrate, my form stays OK (not great yet, but OK), when I lose my concentration and start worrying about things like hold onto the axle, my hips shoot up and the last half of the lift is basically a romanian deadlift. Given my bad lower back, that is the last thing I want. I think my overall crush is down right now, but only because I am in the final stages of Bill's RRBT experimental program. Very high volume. That will be over next week and I can start a peaking phase to get ready for the MM2. Hoping all this gripper work has built a base of strength so that when I do a peaking phase I bust all my previous plateaus. I would love to get where you and Frank are, closing the 3.5 for multiples.

Guest Bullitt
Nice axle work Mike! Do you train RT at all? I've only tried an RT twice. Both times in a medley when I was completely fried from the comp. Couldn't even get 180. I would love to try one fresh.
bencrush
Very nice PR on the Axle! The 340-350 mark is right around where the pack starts to thin in the bigger grip contests.

My alltime PR (several weeks ago) was 295. Based on how easy 260 was and how badly I missed 300, I would say it's around 285-290 right now. Guest Bullitt
Hit the axle yesterday. Hands just never felt right. 110 X 6 180 X 4 250 X 3 300 X 1 320 X 1 355 X miss 345 X miss Then I did a max attempt on 1 arm axle DLs R/H: 200 X miss. Got a bunch of air but it was spinning out so I aborterd: http://www.youtube.c...h?v=42PsBTkDx_o L/H: 170 X miss. Oly bar deadlifts: 300 X 8 325 X 7 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNUmuByWOxw Then 60lb Kettlebell: B/H: 30 R/H: 25 L/H: 25 Then did ham/glute raises on exercise ball with 60lbs on stomach: 1X10
Guest Bullitt
Today was pinch day. Warmed up with some grippers and then hit the new 2HP block that Chris Rice made me. This thing is awesome. Still slick, but it's starting to act like it wants to hold chalk. I figure it is about 20lbs harder than Jedd's Euro right now. 102.7 X 5 137.7 X 3 172.7 X 1, 1 182.7 X 1 (PR) 187.7 X miss (bunch of air), miss, miss Then pulled Eatons 42lb blob for a few singles each hand and another few with 5 pounds added. Then I bent a piece of 5/16" X 6" HRS in single wraps for the steel slayer list.
Guest Bullitt
Today was the last day of Wannagrip's experimental RRBT gripper program. We just have a peaking phase, which I hope gets me ready for MM2. That means I will start posting my gripper work again. My overall grip strength has definitely increased from the thousands of closes we have all done. Hit deadlifts tonight: Sumo dead with 60 lb kettlebell: 1X10 Sumo 135: 1X10 (just worked on getting my hips through explosively Then switched to regular pulls: 205X6 275X3 325X1 405X1 (25 lb PR) Didn't have the money for new plates right now, so I taped two 20 lb kettlebells to the end of the bar.
