FrankyBoy
For sure not! But the clean and press movement activates a lot of muscle groups in the upper body so even when being lazy and only doing that exercize I actually had a good workout. the swiss
good stuff!! as for me, I have a strange but acute pain in my left wrist since yesterday morning... hope strength is still there and I can still give you a hard time... we'll see! FrankyBoy
Indeed Burki. Flo already called me out to jerk the 100kg! No, thank you. Ah, and thanks of course Burki. David, hope you'll recover till saturday. I'm doing my probably longest rest before a comp, lets see if that helps. the swiss
Franky: more rest will help, for sure!! my best jerk with the axle is 98kg, maybe I'll try that on Saturday if wrist is ok and we can be outside.
climber511
Cleans are looking good Franki - something people don't think about is how scary they are as they get close to your max. Getting under a max clean takes courage. Nice work.
the swiss
true, climber, but we are "only" doing power cleans. not nearly as scary IMO. Anyhow, Franky's progression is very impressive. He does have the strength to do more, but don't tell him

I'm still learning so I can power clean almost the same weight but to go higher I have to squat clean. And there's no way I'll ever clean that much on an Axle - very nice work. Goetz von Beurlichingen
I have come as a curious witness to David's GC. Just tried a thing or two, but, as told before, I didn't want to participate in this year for at least 4 good reasons: an unhealed wrist, the proximity of the nationals (1), the total unpreparedness... and a fourth one which I will keep personal... but David knows So, I had only come for the show I was sure would be displayed by these two great champions : David Hürzeler and Frank Henritzi. Frank is IN-credibly strong. It's just hard to imagine how strong he is unless one sees it with his own eyes. Since 1986 I have crossed the way of many a strong people, including a few of these Oly WL's, strongmen and powerlifters who at least at some point in their respective careers have earned the right to call themselves or be called the strongest men on earth. But I can SWEAR, very few of them had a hand strength above or similar to Frank Henritzi's... which is evidently NOT a genetic gift passed on to him by some supernatural parents and NOT the result of chemicals... but the sole tribute of "WILLEN". OK, they had not specialized in hand strength training. But every time you sees a guy able to lift between 350 and 420 kg from the ground, you can be sure he's got a grip strength from hell, can't you? The only obstacle to Frank's will seems to be bad luck, bad luck and f***g bad luck again. Frank, Frank, Frank!! I know we'd all be glad - David ahead - if you could eventually get rid of it. Kick the bad star back into the interstellar void! I had got to let you know how my pal Nick, who (as a BB champion of the NABBA) is a connoisseur, too, and I admired your performance yesterday. We all hope your foot is healing well. You are... STRONG. (1) 31.03 FSSF. If interested, contact here: fssf-wabdl@romandie.com.
DuTCH
What happened, what was the outcome and what is wrong with his foot?
Goetz von Beurlichingen
What happened, what was the outcome and what is wrong with his foot? David fair winner whatever the circumstances, but Franky STUNNING runner-up. Couldn't finish, though, because... he dropped that damn weight onto his foot!!! This Grip Challenge gave me the opportunity to see how one can literally PLAY with an ID - Frank is incredible - and one can AXLE CURL UP 100kg with an overhand grip!!! (Explication? "Die Technik (des Umsetzens) kenn ich nicht"!! SIC!!! GOD!) Hard to imagine, isn't it?
FrankyBoy
Wow, thanks for the kind words Emanuel. Too bad you couldn't compete, you'd have done very well as you demonstrated in several events. My foot is fine today what is strange enough after the pain and the nice colors it showed yesterday. Might have been a tendon which was pulled out of its natural place when I let the 60kg weight drop onto my foot. Damn weak lefty. Two hours later I felt something cracking in my foot and I got a kind of electrical shock running up my leg but afterwards I could walk again. David again was virtually unbeatable for me though it was pretty close through the whole contest with David leading after grippers and the loading event (David did 8 singles on the #3 lefty and 13 righty!!! I remember I already congratulated him for the victory of the comp then. ). Btw I learned that singles are much harder to do than reps. In the loading we performed equally (35 out of 40, one mutant even got 36 up). In the lever event I could catch up to David (30kg for me vs. 25 for David, this was expected since its my favourite event) and even bypass him. In the A.A. Power Clean he made all the others (incl. me) look like clowns when he cleaned 108kg (238#). I succeeded with 103kg and failed on 105kg twice. Then Axle DL with 120kg for reps in 90s, what a lovely exercize. David got 17, me 18 reps, so after 5 events David was ahead by 0,2 points (out of 50). Congrats David.
