neilkaz
Paul, as a lurking older guy here (46) reading about your progress is an inspiration to me as you have somewhat more experience than me and are somewhat stronger. Re: the ISG. I read someplace about a guy who closes it with the 11,12 setting, is it usable in that setting or is 10,12 the limit. Regardless, you need a third spring for negatives soon anyhow. I like the idea of the ISG as you can very gradually increase resistance, whereas unless you have lots of grippers of different kinds, there's a big gap in difficultly between them (OK one can overcome some of that with filing and strap holds etc) It was also good to read about your overtraining episodes as I've been prone to that when I feel really good and strong in the hands and end up doing up to twice a normal KTA volume one day and then 2-3 days later am still weak in the hands and can't get a decent workout. ..neilkaz.. pdoire
Hi, I'm a lurking older guy too (49). The ISG can only go up to 10,12 setting this url talks about it.. it is where I purchased mine. A member of this board Gorrilla Hands closed it in the 11,12 setting I have no idea how he manipulated the springs to achieve that. The ISG is great for NC's and you can add incrementally as you know.. taht feedback is very motivating for me. http://www.fractionalplates.com/cgibin/eda...&catalogno=9.12 Yes overtraining is a real issue on KTA....I like you get a strong day go berserk and needed extra rest...only once did I take more than the one day recommended though. Pay attention those pony clamps my thumb strength has greatly increased. I have 3 different size of modified ponies to work the thumb at different widths. Just ordered some straps and choke collars...can't wait to implement them. PM me if you would like with further questions!!

Got my third spring today.....now i can upi my negs to the moon. Problem is I press it down against a 2 drawer wooden file cabinet I have and soon I am afraid it will collapse from the pressure!!! lol Neilkas I do have a HG 300 which is one I cannot close...not sure but do not think it is as tough as an IM#3..it is one of the newer ones which have been weakened since the old one which was tougher than a #3. I have choke collars now I will switch between BBSM for now, and HG 300 and #3 ...till I figure out if the HG 300 is harder than my BBSM but easier than #3. My hands are about 8 1/4" Warren said 2 3/4 is my perfect size...so I guess the 2 7/8" I shouldn't complain about. I got a Filed ( both sides ) #1 that was Shrugs that has a 3" spread, it is filed over 1/2 off. It is like a #2. I cannot no set it...yet!! neilkaz
I just measured all my grippers using a metric ruler (I can estimate to the nearest 1/2 mm) from bottom of knurling to bottom of knurling and will post details in the HG thread that discusses comparisions to IMs. Anyhow, for reference's sake my 2004 #3 is nearly 3 in (2.95) and my #2 is 2 11/16 (2.81). My 2 is just about the same difficulty as my wide (2.72) HG250. My HG300 I estimate as a 2.4 and is 2 9/16 in (2.56) I remeasured my hands and my right is 7 1/2 in and is longer than my left ! I assume Warren would think about 2 1/2 to 2 5/8 the right size for my hands? What spread is your HG300 and I look forward to seeing how it compares to the BBSM. I am doing no set closes and my best is 1/8 in away on the #2. After that and the HG 250 fall, my next target will be the HG300 and I may need to get a gripper that's around a 2.7 if the 3 can't be shut all the way for NCs. ..neilkaz.. bencrush
Paul, you're making great gripper progress! Very impressive and again a great and fun to read log. pdoire
Neilkaz, I answered your HG questions in your HG post...thanks for your support. You are progressing nicely also. I really like the HG's so far. Not sure of HG 300 comparison to my BBSM just yet. Bencrush, I am glad my log is entertaining...lol I tend to add real life comments and not necessarily just "grip reporting" I have a 3rd spring now for the ISG that will allow it to go to an insane 451ip..more than i will need for quite some time. I have used the ISG exclusively for all my negs to this point. It was my first grip toy..and I love its versatility. I have 2 Pda choke collars now so I may experiment with them with the negs also, but I know I can always rely on the ISG.

Glue, tape etc...didn't work. Received my PDA chokers and continuously squueezed my #3 and Elite to fit into it two days ago when I was modifying it to fit. I felt something in the back of my right hand burn quite a bit. My knuckles have never been so sore... all knuckles both hands. I may need to take a break and let some deep down tissue healing take place....I just started Phase 2 week 3 of KTA too...bummer.
neilkaz
Paul, this certainly sucks. As fried as your hands sound, I'd suggest a couple of days off for both hands. If you want to work out do core body strength exercises like bench which don't involve a whole lot of grip strength (wrap up that hole in your palm and then put a work glove over it). That hole in your right hand needs to heal, so you may need to take more time off with that hand to let it heal deeply. Perhaps in a couple of days you can find somethings to squeeze with the right hand other than grippers that won't rip up the raw palm area. Perhaps you can work pinch instead. Anyhow, heal up..and stay strong .. neilkaz ..
pdoire
Did some active recovery...light gripping. Hands are feeling better..not all the way yet. Powerweb Extenders 50 Ball Rotations 100 Hg 150 x 10 RH Hg 100 x 10 LH 1 3/4 pinch block 40 lbs ea hand...20 secs. Contrast baths 3 times so far. Ice cold really helps!! bencrush
Paul, I have a PDA choker but after getting a bunch of hose clamps I think they're actually the better training device. Let me try to explain. With the choker you have 2 settings. With the hose clamps you have nearly infinite settings. You could theoretically set it to far closer than 1 inch. Then when you can close it from there, next workout you could open it up less than 1 millimeter. Then repeat until you're opening it up all the way. That's a mind blowing range of adjustability. I don't really have the patience to do it that way or I'd be following my own recommendation right now. Slowly but surely would win that race for sure. Like you said, the hardest part seems to be getting the grippers into the choker or the hose clamp. I had a harder time putting my Cert GM into the choker than finally closing it after a few weeks of dedicated effort. I think using the hose clamp mini adjustment method would allow people to work from closing at 1 inch or parallel to work up to the credit card set close. FrankyBoy
I put it over the handles. Check the following image: http://www.gripboard.com/index.php?act=mod...cmd=si&img=1379 The tape is protecting the knurling, thats where the hose clamp sits.
