deaner
Posted a video of #3 close in my gallery. No witness besides my wife, but I just had to get it on here. My best video showing the set and long close didn't show what the gripper was, oops.
FrankyBoy
Nice close Jason. Definately would qualify as a MM0 video with a witness present.
deaner
Nice close Jason.Definately would qualify as a MM0 video with a witness present. No witness present, just wanted to see if thats what youre looking for. I can close it at will now, video seems hard to capture. I wasn't sure if you needed witness for MM0 when wanna said something about seeing if it qualified for judges, I'll just wait til I can get together with a witness, maybe soon, my witness SMP76, will probably close it too, and who knows what else that guy might want to cert on, he's out of control. gerryg
Deaner, what kind of closes are you doing with your Tug#5? Can you pinch it?
deaner
Just closing it with my pointer and middle finger. I can't pinch it yet, i can force it shut and do a tough negative with my thumb though. The spring looks real thin but it's a pretty stout gripper. deaner
3/23 hard to remember everything I did, but here goes.. A few attempts with SMP76's #3, close but not quite. Missed no-set attempt on Rb240N got 5x10's a couple times tried the blob, did a couple negs tried a 7" FBBC hex, just barely wobbled it, but I'm not bending so it doesn't count against me.. Don't forget you tore some decks of cards, pinched 2-25s and your weird ass 33s together. Sledge levering and even hit some neck and IM Tug at the end. It was an all around night for sure. -Sean
deaner
Shouldnt push it but got new #3 today Attempted to close the beast, got it to parallel?? This thing is truely a monster, I thought my old one was hard!! Harder than my Rb300n, bout the same as my elite Maybe with some seasoning, but I gave it 50+ closes.. Wd40'd it and put it away, will see what happens Monday. It's a new one with shiny silver spring.
deaner
3/27 Tried both 2004 #3 (rated by bencrush at 3.3) and new #3 to see which one was tougher, I gave it 50 more closes first. Tried '04 first, sucked, 1/2" right, then tried the new one and got it to about 1/8", tried it again and about the same, really binding up last bit, maybe needs some lube. Gave it another 50 closes and will squirt it with WD40 again. I think this will be a good 3.0-3.1 ish gripper, if the binding gets better. Is it normal for a gripper to do this? It makes alot of noise. It has a 2 15/16" spread just like like the '04 but the spring is set a little higher than flush. #1 10x10 for fun, I have a cracked callus that hurts like hell so the #1 felt real good. smp76
Jason, I will have to come over and try you new #3 out and see how it compares man. The we will have four between us, one of them cut for BTR closes!
deaner
I'm betting they are real close. The new one has real good knurling so it might even end up a little easier than yours, I can't believe how hard my old one felt today! After the closes with the one I borrowed, then yours felt tough, then giving a squeeze on mine today, damn. It was only one attempt though so it coulda been a fluke, maybe my next attempt would have gone "click".
