There are old RBs with black springs… and no markings too… kind of limited ones.. these are 20 years old:     black springs, very sharp knurling, slightly thinner handles

      Thank you!
    • Cannon
That is not a black spring, which is how many people refer to oil-tempered springs. Baraban commonly uses two types of springs which he calls chrome and “natural.” Chrome is self-explanatory. Natural is just piano wire off the coil, no further polish. The darker appearance is just patina from age.  The rare thing about that gripper is the blue handles. The natural spring is very common.

Dub’s Grip Classic July 13th https://ironpodium.com/browse/event/dub-s-grip-classic Hosted by Barratt Strength 3120 Beacon Street Colorado Springs, Colorado https://www.barrattstrength.com/ Sponsors: https://nemesisgrips.ca https://armassassinstrengthshop.com Format: This event is sanctioned by GSI, and all records/lifts will be tracked in the database. Events other than 30mm grippers will be contested in a last person standing format.  - Once you miss a lift, you are out.  - There will not be a limit on attempts but the promoter is empowered to step in if excessive attempts are slowing down the flow of the event.  - Athletes will have one minute to complete a successful lift.  - Athletes are not required to attempt every time the weight is increased. You are allowed to skip weights as you wish. The event will be scored using reverse strongman scoring.  - 1st place in an event will receive one point, 2nd place will receive two points, etc.,   - The athlete with the lowest cumulative score after all events will be declared the winner.  - Scoring will be tracked within each gender’s weight and age class, as well as overall. - Prizes will be announced soon! Classes: Men’s - 59k, 66k, 74k, 83k, 93k, 105k, 120k, 120k+ Women’s - 47k, 52k, 57k, 63k, 72k, 84k, 84k+ Master's Age Brackets: 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+ Events: 30mm Grippers  - Athletes will be allowed three attempts to close the highest rated gripper possible.   - Each attempt will have a thirty second time limit, beginning once the athlete starts setting the gripper.   - Athletes are NOT required to use all three attempts.   - You can still use your remaining attempts if you happen to fail your first or second attempt.  - A 30mm setting block must be passed completely between the handles in clear view of a judge before closing the gripper.   - The gripper handles must be confirmed by a judge as clearly touching before the gripper is released by the athlete.   - Each attempt will be filmed by another judge in the event it needs to be reviewed.  - Only magnesium chalk can be used on the athlete’s hands.  - The gripper must be closed with spring pointing upwards. Various angles will be allowed, but the gripper cannot be held upside down.  - The free hand may only be in contact with the gripper during the set.
