GR8. I love it. This kind of thing is what I had in mind for the Tetting thread. Documenting who got what, when, and what different stamps look like, etc. Love it! 3 Quote

Alex K Posted April 22 Posted April 22 (edited) Here are some infos that I have gathered along with some nice photographs! From right to left we have a Single Stamp, 02' Double Stamp, 04' Double Stamp, 05' Double Stamp and modern design CoCs (with better knurling) from 06', 09' 12' and 14'. There are a total of two missed packages here - the square 02' package where the gripper was placed diagonally, and the early 14' package with the "IronMind" writing much more faded. I had one of those but tossed the package away after some time. The 05' GR8 double stamp was actually opened by me too, something I couldn't resist doing a while back Here are some close-ups of the very old ones: Single Stamp (1995-2002), same package was used on Silver Crush grippers I believe. The very old ones actually said "Silver Crush": A favourite of mine, the 02' Double Stamp, this one particular gripper is also called the "Samuelsson #4" (2002): A slightly different package for double stamps with the CoC writing on the handles from 2004 (the text placement on the back is also very different): The GR8 double stamp package looks quite similar to the white packaging used on the first "modern design" CoCs, but is also slightly different! Obviously, no 1.5 2.5 and 3.5 yet! Edited April 22 by Alex K 6 2 Quote Gripper enthusiast 🤠 Check me out on Instagram: instagram.com/alexkgrip

Found an old pic of that package I mentioned where the IM writing is less visible! Fun fact: I still have that #2.5 from that package and I’m regularly using it! Knurling back then was amazing. The package difference becomes very obvious when compared to a modern package. An example of a video with one is Vano’s #3 cert from around that brief time when they were around. Check it out! Also, here’s the other 2002 package I was missing containing a #4 (found the pic online): I think this one belonged to @Brett H Edited April 22 by Alex K 2 2 Quote Gripper enthusiast 🤠 Check me out on Instagram: instagram.com/alexkgrip

Funny you post this, as I was just recently contacting Vitalik about getting it back. I am not sure where this picture came from, as the package was more gray than it appears here. Brett H Posted April 22 Posted April 22 Here is a front and back picture. Man, I wish I had not gotten rid of this one. Of course this is the case for about every gripper I have ever sold. ☹️ 4 2 Quote

Jared P Posted April 23 Author Posted April 23 Version 2 CoC card arrived in the mail today. It's copyrighted with 2010 on the back. It came with this older model CoC 1.5 on the eBay listing. The knurling is noticeably sharper and darker/shinier. Guessing it also comes from this same time period (2009-2014ish). @Alex K had a good thread about the knurling change. I thought there was also another thread on the board about the CoC gripper timeline history, but I couldn't find it. 2 Quote 143 DS | 136 MMS | 119 CCS Training grippers since: 7/6/21, 38 CoC Sport

Since you put a question mark for the date of the Silver Crush I've posted (not mine btw): The first generation of Silver Crush didn't have a band, no numbers stamped, shiny spring, pinned. The second-gen is '93-'94, but at '94 the #4 was already introduced, which is not listed on the package. So that package its from 1993. We are missing: - '91 Silver Crush package: #1, #2, #3 - '92 Silver Crush package: #T, #1, #2, #3 - '94 Silver Crush package: #T, #1, #2, #3, #4 And there are the pre-silver crush full black Ironmind grippers (also made by Warren Tetting), I guess those had some kind of package as well. But those might not be "Captains of Crush", just Ironmind. Edited April 23 by matek 2 Quote
Blacksmith513 Posted April 23 Posted April 23 Sorta off topic and maybe a stupid question.... Did Ironmind sell COC grippers in stores or catalogs I would have seen as a kid back in the day? Some of the packaging looks awfully familiar to me. Quote
Cannon Posted April 23 Posted April 23 7 hours ago, Jared P said: Updated the original post. Looks like there are 3 credit card versions I believe more are incoming. Alex talked to me about another unique card. It's the first silver one, but with two variations. The second has the 3.5 box added. And @Alex K, I'm noticing that the two you have are actually different from the one pictured above that says Magnus Samuelsson. That one has like the Batman "POW" hand-gripper-closing logo in the number square. There are two others which do not. 1 Quote
Cannon Posted April 23 Posted April 23 Here is mine from 2006. It’s faded and kind of delaminating even though I never used it. 2 Quote
Cannon Posted April 23 Posted April 23 Actually I'm noticing that my card I just posted is significantly different and another unique variant. There is no gold "COC" behind the hand, and the banner that says "GRIPPERS" is more of a line drawing where later it's a blue banner with shine gradients that go all the way to white. From a post on Teemu's Gripper Strength wordpress blog. This matches my card without the POW hand in the number box. I know I got my card in 2006: The next version with the gradient banner: Then there is that exact gradient banner card again except with a tiny #3.5 box crammed between the #3 and #4. 3 Quote

I think this tradition still lives on till this day, when you certify on a CoC. I‘ll have to experience this first hand hopefully soon 2 Quote Gripper enthusiast 🤠 Check me out on Instagram: instagram.com/alexkgrip
