smp76
Doc, Nic work on the Power Cleans on the axle. Very nice. You still doing pull ups? Looks great man, keep it up. Oh, and did you make the concrete spheres? -Sean
Sean Dockery
Sean, Thanks. I'm still doing pullups, I've just had some higher priority things come up on the training days when I usually do them. I did make the concrete spheres. It's a pretty straightforward process. smp76
I did make the concrete spheres. It's a pretty straightforward process.Doc Have mold, mix cement, pour into mold, let set, remove mold, smooth sphere, that kind of straight forward? Glad to see you hitting the pull ups, really shocked you have not mounted wooden blob replicas in your ceiling and just do pull ups off of them. -Sean
Sean Dockery
Yeah something like that. I used the plaster of paris method. 6/17/06 Nicki came over and we ran thru the events for the YMCA strongman. I got: 2 reps in the clean and jerk with 215 on the Axle 51 seconds to go 100 feet with our smallest tire did 1 rep with the 195, 2 reps with the 260 and broke the 320 off the ground in the stones 21 seconds to go 100 feet with 240 perhand in the Farmer's walk

smp76
Doc, You ever do any heart rate monitor work? I have fooled around with mine and I have a workout you might enjoy. Clean and Press for sets of five. You put your heart rate monitor on and do five clean and presses with a challenging weight but one you could sustain. For me I was using 155lb for the following: 5 reps, look at heart rate, ususally around 165-170bpm rest until my pulse was back down to 135bpm then hit five more clean and presses repeat "rest cycle" until 135bpm and continue like this for twenty minutes. I think you would dig this workout. I like to throw it in ever couple of weeks. Good job on the #3 too by the way. -Sean
Sean Dockery
That sounds interesting. I may see if I can dig up a heart monitor and wear it the some time when I do my 50 reps in 20 minutes
smp76
That sounds interesting. I may see if I can dig up a heart monitor and wear it the some time when I do my 50 reps in 20 minutes I think you will really like it. It is a train until your heart explodes workout. And is really the true measure of how much can you take. If and when you do it post how you liked it. -Sean
