finished week one of phase III and proof of mastery of my filed #2 was in doing all the overcrushes and strap holds with it.

One more week to go then I'll take a week off and then I can get back to more varitey in my training

Did my ruler holds with HG 300 last night!!! This is a weak HG 300 closer to a #2 then a #3, but it's still progress. Two more sessions and I am done!

Finished KTA yesterday(sat)!!!!

Final ruler hold with my HG 300 was 6lbs for a good 5-10seconds so I am purty happy with that. I will try to take a week off and see how I do next Saturday.

aptdwellers post on setting grippers got me thinking about my own progress. When I first worked with the grippers I didn't position the gripper in the ideal spot ie the back handle was no where near the hand crease but was way back towards the thumb. Then after learning how to set the gripper at Rick's contest I trained that way for a couple years. Got to the point That I could shut my #3 if I braced my arm with my free hand and was able to shut my SM on a few occasions with a set. I also gave myself a good dose of tenndonitis in my left forearm. About the last year or so (at least half of this year I wish I kept better details) I have been training with a shallow set again with the back handle close to the thumb. While my gains are slower, they are progressing and I believe it would be less work for me to go to the next level and TNS whatever gripper I am maxing on. While I'd love to be able to mash harder and harder grippers, at this point I would rather make consistent gains at a slower speed with less chance of injury imho.

So a week off of grip training I gave the grippers a go this saturday am:

warmed up with a singles: T,#1, filed #2

#3 attempt: crap couldn't even hold it shut after assisting it closed

SM: x1 right left was off by 1-2mm this was a slow battle to the final close

SM ruler hold @2.5 x1, @3 x1 left only right x0

go really grip machine max attempt

102.5x1, 127.5x1, 152.5x1, 157.5x1, 162.5x1, 172.5x1 -had to attempt this twice as the first one I felt like my body was lifting not my grip

2" barbell bentover rows

75x10, 165x10, 205x10 felt good to dust this bar off haven't touched it in months

All in all I am happy with my progress on this run of KTA, I should mention my forearms were sore from yesterday so I might even have been able to do a bit better. We had 2 feet of snow yesterday and between shoveling that all, and bringing a tobogan of 3hay bales from my inlaws place along the highway to our barn was enough to cook them as I have no endurance.

Tendons in elbows felt tight all day Sunday perhaps from the little bit of thick bar work I did ontop of testing my crush strength. So I will have to monitor myself closely as I introduce more varitey in my grip exercises again. I'm still prioritizin the grippers in my training so I'l perform that work first then rotate some other hand/lower arm work exercise after each day.

I'm on the 11 to 11 shift for the next couple weeks so I got some grip work in before my shift today (Monday):

Monday am, dawg had me up @0500 after working 11 to 11's the past three days, tried to get a decent workout in but started feelin like the GI system was going to kick it into reverse so I had to bail on my barbell work:

75x10 swallowed some puke so I called it quits. Once I start barfing I can't stop so I am not one of those hardcore lifters who have tales filling the puke bucket after squats etc.

blue x20 no gas and I was still on the verge to purge at this point so I abandoned my gym for the kitchen.

I'm thinking of alternatin' my gripper workouts with one day using the 3.5 between my overcrushes and ruler holds and the other day using my 3 between the OC's and RH's. I'm also going to start focusing on the wrist plate curl for a while to see if I can hit a 35lber in the new year. Probably alternate a volume approach one day and more of a max effort on the other day. I'm going to try to limit grip activity to 2x per week for a few weeks.

Hopefully I am catching myself before I do some serious damage, I'm planning to ice my elbows and stretch a few times everyday this week, then next week start back with some lighter gripper work.

Yes, I am clamping the 2.5 on the far side of the plate and the clamp weighs 2.5lbs itself.

Nothing of worth to report since the 24th, iced my elbows a few times a day and stretched when I thought about it. Got sick, spent a couple days lying around forgot about the therapy for the elbows but they seem ok now. Got some goodies for Gripness: Ironmind's Snowball the large one, this is a nice thing to have very cool, and a couple of tugs #4 and #5, I think these are good as long as you don't normally perform a deep set -if you do I'd imagine they'd throw your groove off a lot and would be annoying.

Tried to do a bit of grip stuff today but after bringing a load of hay over and recovering from being sick? I was weak as a kitten, barely got my filed #2 shut and I couldn't even shut my #2.5 :blush So I scratched the planned onslot and did some ring and pinky closes of the tugs #4x10, #5x6 and some index and middle finger #5x10. Some mashing of the Snowball hard to measure performance on it, and the GoReally @108.75x5

That was it, if time permits I'll do more wrist work/thumb stuff tomorrow

Gonna alternate between single work with heavier grippers and volume work with a light gripper. Today friday:

Just a quick micro workout, wanted to get some pinchin' in:

plate pinch

25'sx1, +10x1, +15x1, +20x1, +25x1, +30x1, +32.5x1, +33.5x1, +35x1, +36.75x0 thumbs were shredded at this point

25x3 simulation pinch-basically the two 25's with a piece of 2x4 inbetween so the thickness is the same as 3x25plates

x1,x1 left only, right refused to cooperate basically the pain in the skin, joint was shutting down my pinch

had hoped to do some negs with the 45's but my thumb skin was not up to it so I used the excuse and bailed

got a pretty good workout in after work thursday night:

Filed M: first ladder was five singles, then 5 sets of 3 singles =20 reps total

Filed SA: sets of 5 singles except first ladder was 7 singles =87 total

Total reps 102 -I'm happy with this as I was able to get a good start with working with my filed M, hope to replace work on the SA more and more with the filed M until I get around the 100 total mark.

115x5 -happy to get this in as last time it was pathetic after ladders, joints in fingers were sore after.
