Ok I've see everyone elses log so I thought I would add my training starting today.

Some bending

Just got a new IM Hub , Olympic loading pin and Rolling Thunder yesterday.

Hub Lifts

Attempt at 175lb no dice.

I was really suprised how hard the rolling thunder deads were. Kudos to everyone who is kickin butt on those. Definately like the 2 new toys and will be using them a good bit in the future to work on weak points.

Thanks, I'm pretty excited about it too. This coming Friday will be my first week of bending. I was thinking on the first day that it would take at least a couple of weeks to get that IM yellow.

Today more grip and bending stuff. Wanted to test out the style I saw on benders website.

I was supposed to be taking it easy Friday and this weekend for some good recovery. That didn't happen. I'm moving, so I tried to make a good workout out of it got lots of good pinch grip work in moving queen size bed by myself and other stuff too. I was down to the last load yesterday and was feeling a bit honery so I decided to do a little bending.

Saturday.

Bending:

1X IM white (made the ends cross.) :)

4X IM Yellow (getting easier)

1X IM Blue

1X 6 1/2"X3/8" aluminum (that was tough but I got it.) :D

1X 3/16" HR Scroll looks like a bowtie

I will post pics later. My hands are feeling a bit tired right now, I will be doing some contrast baths and wet towel rollups.

Just did a 3/16"square X 4", It was a beast on crushdown. I think I may have to stick to stuff longer than 4.5"

Left hand felt weak right felt good

Plate pinch

6X 2- 25s right

4X 2- 25s left

3X 1- 35 and 1-25 right

2 attempts at same left

2 attempts at 2- 35s came just off ground

Bending

Felt like some bending would be a nice way to top off a good workout

2X IM yellow

2X IM Blue

2nd blue made it through kink and then no more than 20deg

rewrapped and finished it.

Individual fingers

med binder clip pinches between each finger and thumb for 2 sets of 20

pinky and ring finger crushes with home depot pony clamp 2 sets 20

thumb work with pony clamp 2X7

Thanks unseenbeat, since I'm still relatively new to the grip stuff I've decided to make the grippers a lower priority and focus on overall hand and wrist strength for a while to get a good starting base. After another month or 2 of this I will probably do a KTA cycle for the grippers.

Successful attempt at Slim style sledge lift from ground with sledge at arms length and lift then touch nose @ 30" on right hand.

Left wrist a bit crunchy and sore at base of thumb.

Found some nice stones for pinch lifting. Spread around 3.5"

simulated block lifting with stone mortar (as in mortar and pestle) lifting upside down spread is 5.75" weight is 10lbs.

2x6X with both pinkys and thumbs

2x12X with both ring fingers and thumbs

Gonna try to hold back on any big bends until wrists are stronger and can lever full length the 6lb sledge front and rear, right and left.

Wasn't really planning on working out yesterday (Friday) but one of my buddies talked me into doing a workout with him.

5X 135 Bench

3X 225 Bench

8X 265 Bench No spotter, felt pretty good was only hoping for 7

9X rope pullups

10X 40lb DB standing tricep ext

10X 50lb DB Hammer Curls

10X 35lb DB Side Raises

2X10X 2-10's Plate wrist curls

10X 70lb per side Hammer strenth Military press machine

Did a bit of hublifting

warmup with some singles up to weight

made attempt at 32.5 on left, No dice

made attempt at 37.5 on right, No dice

Same with rolling thunder, was mostly playing to introduce it to workout buddy.

Cardio

10 minutes on treadmill for warmup before lifting

20 minutes on treadmill after lifting

I think that was about it. Very happy about the increase on bench.

Thanks, there is definately an abundance of smooth well shaped stones around here. you can find decent ones in most dried up stream beds. I'm trying to find some now to approximate the shape and open hand width of the block weights or a blob. The stones also seem to be a little bit more unwieldy than the regular plates too, so that makes the lifts a bit more challenging.

Yea Jake I'm looking forward to it. I've already purchased it. I've just been trying to build a bit of base before I start. I would be starting it now if I could still do the sledge levering. However I don't think that would be good so I need to get to my goal first of being able to fully lever at 30" in the front with both hands and the 6lb sledge. Hopefully it won't take too long.

Yesterdays training was just kind of a lot of playing. I was working from home while getting some work HVAC work done on the house.

Played with grippers for about 4 hours, did a rep every few minutes with different ones. Anything from the trainer, #1, Filed BBSA, #2. Also worked inverted grip in.

Didn't keep track of totals but hands were pretty raw and a little blistered by the time I was done.

Bending

2 IM yellows

2 1/4" X6" HKT bolts

1 attempt at 3/8" by 6" aluminum only to about 20deg

1 attempt at 60d bright common only to about 20deg

1 attempt at IM Red just barely moved it.

Later

1X 1/4x6" HRS

1X 1/4X5.5" cut down HKT bolt

1X 5/16X8.5" HRS could not kink, so cheat kinked to 55deg and crushed (YeaY)

1X 5/16X7" HRS could not kink, Cheat kinked to 80 deg and crushed (YeaY)

1X 1/4X6.5" Zinc plated HRS

Tore my first 2 phone books about 2.5" each, long ways

Bigger bends felt really good on the crush but my initial kink was really lacking today, got to keep working on my wrists. Pretty syked about the phone books too. My GF did not believe that I got the first one. So I brought a second one home and showed her. :)

Oh yeah almost forgot, did a bunch of towel roll ups and 2 sets of contrast baths. Hands were aching pretty good last night. Today they feel decent though.

Todays workout felt pretty good I felt fairly strong

Warmup

4hrs building 6' wood fence in 105 deg heat

30 minute nap

10 minute on treadmill warmup

1x10x265lb No spotter, felt pretty strong, best since I started back lifting (should I call that a PR even though I had done 405 for 10 when I younger?)

8X (first 5 were full hang)

DB standing tricep ext

DB Hammer Curl

DB side raises

1x10x40lb (calling this a PR too. Felt Damn strong)

Hublifts

1X4X25lb left

1X6X25lb right

KTA Day 1 Week 1

Hammer Strength Seated Pulls

1x10x140lbs (could have done more)

I Left the gym feeling good and strong and pumped.

Gonna go finish that fence now probably 1.5hrs more.

Doing the KTA for the grippers, nearing the end of the first week.

Getting very close to closing the BBSM with my right, and a couple of days ago closed the #2 for the first time with my left. Been a hairs with since then. Also did a very few bends since last friday, (hard not to) Finally was able to do an IM yellow completely DO. Since then I have done 2 grade 2 1/4"x6" bolts DO, and 2 5" ones as well completely DO.

Also did sledge levering today, gonna try to do it only once a week.

Finished first week of KTA yesterday. It went well overall, closed the #2 with my left again yesterday and very close on the BBSM with my right. Going to enjoy the rest day today.

2x295lb (was hoping for 6, picked a crappy bench with uber greasy bar @ gym and felt a bit weak too so decided not to push it.) No spotter
