fattysteve
Your neighbors must be nuts. Look at the size of you- who in their right mind would give you any grief? Not to say that you'd do anything to them but you're quite an intimidating guy. ← I meet his neighbors one day the guy seemed ok but the lady she seemed like one of those that has problems with everything she was complaining about the tire that day too. Hope you get that all settled lance Steve
lancep
Thanks a TON guys for all the advice! I got ahold of the guy from the city and he was cool. THANK GOODNESS!!!! He said he stopped by a week back or so and looked over the yard driveway etc and thought it was ok but did have a few questions. I explained what I was doing and he was very understanding and said all he needs is a letter from me stating what everything is being used for. That way he can use that in response to any complaints received in the future. OK, now hopefully my blood pressure will return to normal Mossman, full dead would probably be in the range of 680-710. Not too sure about that though. I have not done a regular deads since my knee injury. I should be close to a 600lb dead with a 2" bar as well. maidenfan
I asked about city ordinance numbers b/c there is not an easy way to tell what they are basing the "junk" complaint upon without the numbers.I went out and looked at the SF code for noise. They have to take noise readings with a dB meter from either your property boundary or the location of the person making the complaint. There are additional restrictions for noise after 10pm. I can't quite tell what they are basing the noise complaint on. Are you playing music too? My guess is that the city is sending out the letter to appease someone and they hope you will stop but they have not bothered investigating. ← I wouldnt even worry about the problem until somebody from the city actually contacts you. I frequently deal with noise problems and do have access to a meter if need be - I've never even seen the thing in eight years. Unfortunately it sounds like you just have a bad neighbor. lancep
Day 1 Program October 12th 2004: AM - Bike for 30 minutes. Mountain program. Car Squat - 500x5, 500x5, 500x5, 500x3, 500x3 * Well this did not go so well. I have ALOT of ground to regain here. It felt heavy as hell and I had problems hitting depth. STAY Car Squat Front - 400x3, 400x3, 400x3 * These felt ok. They are easier than regular barbell front squats. STAY 1/3 Rack Squats - 585x1, 675x1, 765x1 * Worked on really poping the weight off the pins. Gonna shoot for 1k then I will move the pins down a notch. STAY Zercher Deadlifts - 225x5, 315x5, 405x3, 405x3, 405x1 * These felt really good. Work to a 5x5 then increase weight. notes: I have not done any leg work in a very long time. It really showed up today during the car squat. I was pleased with some of the other lifts but my big weakness showed up today. I am goign to bust my ass to get to the point were I am doing some respectable numbers. I am going to use the car squat apparatus for 4 weeks to kind of get back into it leg wise. Then I will add regular squating to the begining of the program and only do 1 burnout set with the car squat after. lancep
Day 2 Program: October 18th 2004 Press Medley: 180lb rock, 225lb keg, 270lb 2" axle, 300lb Log - done, done, done, miss. * Not bad here. I did a warmup run with the first 2 items. Then went thru and got all but the log. I shaved about 20 seconds off my time thru the 1st 3. I need to find a 200lb rock and then bump the other weight up to competition weight. I will keep the log a 300lbs till I get it. 3/4 INCREASE 180lb rock press - 180x3 * Getting better with these. Gotta find a 200lb rock. INCREASE 225lb keg press - 225x3 * Not too bad. The hard part is cleaning the keg though, the pressing is easy. INCREASE 270lb 2" axle press - 270x3 * These went fine. INCREASE 300lb 12" Log - 300x2 * I was a bit dissapointed with this. I really fell apart on the second rep. I really moved thru the other lifts fast so I was tired. STAY 12" Log Incline Press - 300x3, 340x1, 360x0 (From dead stop on chest) * Getting winded. STAY Flat Dumbell Press - 160x3, 160x3, 160x3 * Felt strong on these. Shoot for 3x5 INCREASE Flat Dumbell Flys - x,x,x * Dead, did not do. notes: I was really hoping to hit that 300lb log on the last item. Hopefully next time. I tried to really pick up the pace today. I felt it on the log press. 2 more sessions and I should be sitting good. I really want to get my flat dumbell presses up around the 180 mark or so by the end of January. videos: Press Medley 3 of 4 items Keg Press: 225x3 12" Log Press: 300x2 12" Log Incline Press: 300x3

lancep
Day 4 Program October 21st 2004: 12" Log Clean - 250x5, 300x2, 340x1, 360x1/2, 390x0 * I am going to slowly start adding reps to this. Probably go 5,3,2,1,1. Or try to. My lifts were very ugly today. I should have had 360 but tried to muscle it up. Messed up on 340 as well and stopped half way thru the rep. Hmmmm, not good. Have to concentrate on form improvments. STAY Hang Cleans - 315x3, 345x1, 375x1 * 375 went up fairly easy. I was pissed from the log cleans so that helped on these. INCREASE 2" Axle Cleans - 225x7 * I want to start adding some extra higher rep stuff so here goes. Shoot for 10 next time. Then I will add weight. STAY 2" Axle Rows - 315x5, 315x3 * These are hard. I can really feel it in my back. Maybe because the bar doesn't bend? STAY Dumbell Rows - 160x5, 160x5 * Have not done these in a long time. Need to stick with them, I can really feel it. STAY notes: The day started out shitty with the log, but all in all I was happy with how the workout turned out. I can finally see some of the cardio work paying off. I really tried to add extra reps and scoot thru the workout tonight. Seems good. video: 12" Log Clean: 340x1 12" Log Clean: 360x0 2" Axle Clean: 225x7

These weights are exactly from the point where I grab the handle. 1ft diff can mean that much! Keep pushing till 350x5 STAY Seated Dumbell Press - 125x5, 125x5, 125x5 * Fairly easy. Jump to 135s INCREASE Seated Shoulder Rack Lockouts - 315x5, 375x5, 405x3 * Better this time out. Keep shooting for a 5x5. STAY Standing Side Laterals - 55x5, 55x5, 55x5 * Not fun it hurts. STAY notes: I am happy with how this went. I am going to shoot for a longer term goal of 350x8 in the VP. I can feel that my shoulder strength is coming on now. videos: Viking Press: 350x1 Viking Press: 300x3
lancep
Day 7 Program October 27th 2004: Tire Flip Medley - Set 1: 860x2, 1050x0 / Set 2: 860x2 1050x1 * I was really hoping to get the 1050 twice on these today but I didn't feel really good on them. My form went to shit on the 1050s I can see in the video. STAY Tire Flips - 1050x1, 860x3 * Did these after I realized I had some form issues on the medley. They went much better! 22" Partial Deadlift - 585x3, 675x2, 765x1, 855x1, 855x1, 945x1 * 945 did not go up very well. The others were easy though. Shoot for 1k. INCREASE Car Deadlift Hold - 620lbx40sec , 620x48sec, 620x40sec * My back was more or less wrecked after these. I will try to hit one minute then add another 100lbs. STAY Car Deadlift Reps - 710x11 * Single to failure. INCREASE REPS Hyper Extensions - BW+25x8, BW+25x8. BW+25x8 * Very very tired. STAY notes: I really think I will nail the 860x2+1050x2 medley next time. I see in the video that I am lifting too muc and need to drive into the tire more. Partial deads are coming along. All in all not too bad of a day. videos: Tire Medley
Meat Loaf
Neighbors are so stupid. Mere mortals have no conception of the glory that resides in us Strength Lovers. People just quiver when they see a big viking looking guy flipping a big ass tire. Where are all the real men nowadays? Peeing their pants whenever a thundering brute like Lance storms along!! "Boo hoo Mr. Policeman...viking man is making noise and lifting weights...boo f-ing hoo..." They will cry!!!!!! Your videos truly inspire me and i can't believe I haven't been following your journal until now! GREAT LIFTING. That 345lb hang clean was SICK. I know how hard that shit is. Hope to train with you someday when I prove myself worthy. MEAT

OnceI hit that I will start moving my hands out 1 inch every month and see were I end up with a ruglar bench press.

Car Squat - 500x3, 500x3, 500x3, 500x3, 500x3 * I don't like doing these they feel really screwed up. I am just going to switch back to regular squating and maybe do a single for reps with the card squat. Car Squat Front - 400x3, 400x3, 400x3 * Switch to real front squats. STAY 1/3 Rack Squats - 675x1, 765x1, 855x1 * These went really well. I am out of room on the bar so I will drop the rack down one notch next time. STAY Zercher Squats - 315x5, 405x5, 405x3, 405x3 * Better than last time. Keep shooting for a 5x5. notes: I do not like doing heavy movements on the car squat setup. lancep
Day 7 Program Nov 15th 2004: 7" Deadlift Lockout - 840x3, 840x2, 930x1, 1020x1, 1110x1, 1200x1 * 1200 was not at all easy. I am going to shoot for 1250 next time out. notes: I only had a little time to train today so I decided to partial deads. I am going to need to do this out of the rack next time because with bar bend and compression the weights is barely moving. I got a tip that if you do the partial out of the rack it should be a true 6" movement. Gonna make up the rest of the workout Sunday.
