I am having some "issues" with locking my arms out at the top of my stone presses.  Anybody have any ideas?

You may have answered your own question:

I am not to familar with the rock lifting. VERY VERY aukward!

You may just need a bit more time getting used to the grip, the unbalanced load, any other nuances of the lift. You obviously have the strength to press it so that can't be the issue.

Remember the old saying: practice makes perfect. I'm sure that soon enough you'll be locking that sumbitch out without any problems.

Lance,

Great work!!! Your presses look strong too!! I don't think that you should have any problem locking that stone out once you get use to it. Keep up the great work :rock

I bet if you practiced the keg with a parallel grip instead of staggered it would carry over to you overhead stone. Your grip on the overhead stone looked a lot like a parallel grip on a keg to me.

First time reading your training log Lance, great stuff bro. I am currently trying to get all the equipment I need to have a set up like you are using now, you got some nice toys to play with. I look forward to reading your log and I will be starting one of my own after I have enough stuff to make it entertaining to read. :rock

Thanks guys! I am going to bust my ass on the pressing. I am very wabbly on all the odd lifts right now. I think with a bit more practice I can get them down pat. Than I need to smooth everything out and do it all in one motion to save time.

Shrug, alot of the stuff for the press medley wouldn't cost much. I had a hard time finding kegs, but I did get 2. Had to pay $20 a piece for them but that's worth it in my mind. Rocks are easy to find so a check there. Thickbars are cheap. Logs are not real cheap though.

Gotta go tire hunting Friday for a 1100 & 1300lb tires. :whacked

Lance, I can get you any tire you want becasue I used to work at a local tire recap shop and they let me take what ever I want. I currently have a 600lb, 900lb, 1100lb, and a 1600lb tire. Let me know if you would be willing to drive up here to get one, if you have access to a big trailer you could even get 2 or 3 if you want. Let me know if you wanna do that and I will tell the guy I know at the recap shop to dig out a big selection of tires between 1100lbs and 1400lbs.

Damn that's some great tire flipping! :bow I have a local place to get tires, they do the same thing, re-treading. They have a 1100lbr and 1500lbr from what it sounds like.

If you ask the local implement dealers or contruction outfits what company hauls their tires away you have a good chance of finding a HUGE stockpile of tires. The local place here has to have 200+ big ass tires.

SHRUG, if i gave you the numbers off of a tire, could you tell me approx what it weighs? It's a big ass quarry tire that's been recapped, i'll have to run out and get the numbers off it. I couldnt find them online, although i honestly didnt try very hard.

Strack

Its a Michelin 30/65R29 Type A, radial core and tubeless. It's been recapped, but an approximation of the weight would be cool if you can! Thanks a lot

Picked up the 1050lbr and the 1350lbr. Kind of played around with them for a bit and it was not easy! The 1050lb is 29.5x25 that has very little tread. I had to cut new lugs on one side. Thus it is f'n hard to flip. I did get it twice in a row, but I about stroked out :whacked The 1350lbr is a monster that does have great lugs. It is like 6'5 and 24" wide. I didn't get the water of it so I left it lay :whistel .

Saturday will be tire day + dead hold + 24" dead day. Then I get to go and cleanup a farm, sweet.... :help:help:help:help

Day 7 Program October 4th 2004:

Tire Flips - 860x3, 860x3, 860x3, 1050x1, 1050x1, 1350x0

* I am finally near the point where I can do the 860 in one motion. Now the 1050 is still a 2 stage flip. I hope to get the 1350 in the next 8 weeks for a single.

22" Partial Deadlift - 585x3, 675x2, 765x1, 855x1, x, x

* Felt great up till 855. Really had to strain on it. Not sure what the hell went wrong here. Was really hoping to go for 1000lbs. Booooooooo. STAY

Car Deadlift Hold - 620lbx35sec , 620x40sec, 620x40sec

* Really feeling it here. Should have had 1 min on those last 2 if I had not pussed out. STAY

Car Deadlift Reps - 710x9

* I will just do a single too failure here. My back is destroyed. INCREASE REPS

Hyper Extensions - BWx8, BWx8. BWx8

* Fine, go to a 25lb plate next time INCREASE

notes: Adding the tire flip to this today really smashed my back. I am going to be VERY VERY sore tomorrow. My tire flipping is going better. I am not too sure what happened on the 22" deadlift. I think I will stick it out till I get 1k on the 22" dead. Then move up to 24" dead to get ready for the contest. Did not have enough left in the tank to do the 2" thickbar work.

Videos:

22" Deadlift: 765x1

Tire Flip: 860x3

Day 4 Program October 7th 2004:

12" Log Clean - 250x5, 300x1, 340x1, 390x1/2, 390x1/2

* I am getting close to my goal of 390 for a clean. Just can't seem to be able to get the log to roll up my chest all the way. It will fall soon. STAY

Hang Cleans - 315x3, 345x1, 375x1

* I barely got the 375, I will stay and try to get 2 singles with 375 next time out. STAY

Barbell Rows - 315x5, 315x5, 315x5

* Not too bad. INCREASE

notes: My form is getting better in the log clean. I am thinking 1-2 more log workouts and I will get the 390. Once I hit that I will practice doing alot more reps. Hang cleans felt better this time too. I will get back up to 405 shortly I hope. Would have liked to do a few more exercises but I ran out of time.

Ok, need some help guys. Does anybody know if having exercise/strongman equipment in your driveway is a violation of general zoning laws. I got another damn letter from the city today saying that they had noise complaints and junk complaits as well. Does a neighbor actually have rights to complain and force me to quit? I leave the stuff outside for only a day or so here and there. You know I leave people alone and don't mess with anybody, but people can't mind there own f'in biz

Lance,

The answer depends on how the zoning ordinances are constructed.

Did the letter cite specific sections of the city code? If so what were they?

Nothing specific other than junk and noise complaints. On another forum a guy said something has to be in the same spot 48-72hrs to be considered junk. My wife talked to the city the other time we got a complaint and it sounded like there was not a problem.....

I asked about city ordinance numbers b/c there is not an easy way to tell what they are basing the "junk" complaint upon without the numbers.

I went out and looked at the SF code for noise. They have to take noise readings with a dB meter from either your property boundary or the location of the person making the complaint. There are additional restrictions for noise after 10pm.

I can't quite tell what they are basing the noise complaint on. Are you playing music too?

My guess is that the city is sending out the letter to appease someone and they hope you will stop but they have not bothered investigating.

I don't know about the noise thing or the complaints but sounds like they are just trying to appease "someone up the road".

BTW-Looked VERY strong in those videos.Impressive.

Your neighbors must be nuts. Look at the size of you- who in their right mind would give you any grief?

Not to say that you'd do anything to them but you're quite an intimidating guy.
