jad
6-19-04 Went and saw my brother and just did some gripping, not a strict workout. lower biceps starting throbbing after awhile so I couldn't go as hard as I wanted but it was a lot of fun. 5 attempts on the MM1dud and missed all 5 by about a credit card Note to self: just couldn't get any explosion I think I was too sore from the heavy partial hammer curls the day MM2dud: closed 2 and missed 5 by about a credit card straphold 5 lbs with the #3 for 30secs...kind of fun 1st time I ever tried a straphold with a #3. Bending 2 TT's 1 5 inch grade 2 bolt 1 1/4x6 inch CRS attempted a prekinked grade 8 and got nowhere(it came that way, guess I need to be more careful picking bolts out next time) 5/16 x6-7"(didn't measure it) bolt not sure what it was made of but I kinked it just a hair Rolling thunder: 165...didn't have any more weights 1 finger lift using 3/4 carabiner 165...didn't have any more weights Hub lift 45, 45, 50 held for 3 sec(new PR) TTK 25x5, 25x5, 30x1,35x1
jad
After viewing the 3Crusher pics on the Atomic Athletic site some more lights clicked on and I couldn't wait to go home and bend. I warmed up with a TT carefully mimicking the pics and then wrapped up a Grade 5. After quite a struggle I took down my first grade 5 in about 7-10 minutes. I couldn't quite get the wrap how I wanted it or I think I could've taken it down faster. Maybe next time. My elbows are hurting so that's enough for tonight. FrankyBoy
Awesome volume, Josh. Two questions: 1. How long do you pause between your singles? 2. You work you left hand mainly with the ISG, why? Very interesting your observation with the TTK. Will try it on my own. So far I concluded my gripper training with the TTK. Keep the good training! jad
Frankyboy, 1. I take as long as necessary between singles on the MMduds, usually 3-4 minutes. As far as the #3 closes I go #3 close, ISG close, TTK all in a row, then record it on the log, then rechalk if necessary, so they go pretty quick. I would say about 1.5 minutes, total time between #3 closes. 2. I train my left hand mostly with the ISG because my brother wanted his BBSM back so I need something between the #2 and #3. After a couple of attempts on the #3, it's just too much gripper for me lefty and my filed #2 is too easy so the ISG, with all it's settings makes a good choice. I think you'll like mixing in the TTK work between sets. Nice log BTW.

jad
Attended my neigbors daughter's graduation party. I went over there as a courtesy but mostly to talk grippers with her dad. Well he broke out the grippers and we got busy. two no-set closes with the #2 2 2 finger closes of #2 with a set 1 attempt of a 2 finger no set on the #2, missed by less than 1/4" attempted his #1 with 1 finger with a set, missed but I've done this before, would have got it had I tried it first Pinched his olympic 25s with 2 fingers and thumb, pretty easy Passes the 25's around my back a couple of times just to see what it was like Closed his ISG on 10,12, I was pumped. This has been a long time goal of mine. Praise the Lord demonstrated some plate curls and plate wrist curls with the 25.

FrankyBoy
Excellent workout Josh, good log. Did you try lately an Elite? If you come closer than parallel on a SE you should be near on closing the Elite if you don't have already closed one. When you train with the TTK I guess you do the excercises 'pony-clamp style'? Do you force close the TTK with both hands completely and do a hold near or at the closed position or do you do a negative? How long does one single take? jad
Both of my MMduds have E stamped on the bottom and from what I understand from other board members they are harder than an Elite. I'm sure this depends on the Elite but my MM1dud is crazy hard, harder than the MM2dud. It's mounted extremely deep. The last 1/4 inch on that MM1dud just gets nasty. On a good attempt I can get the BBSE to under a half inch that was just a crappy attempt. I set the TTK on top of my 40 gallon Rubbermaid container that I keep all the grip stuff in. Then I sit on the floor and pull the TTK to the edge. The container sits between my legs. I place both thumbs on top, in the middle and do positive reps. I keep my arms locked at 90 degrees to avoid using body english to close it. I don't know how long the rep takes but it seems like the range of motion on the TTK is so great that it takes forever to close. My hands aren't the biggest so the TTK is definetly a wide pinch activity for me, at least at the beginning. I tried negatives on it but I don't really like them for the TTK. jad
Got inspired reading Shrug's log so I decided to switch it up today and squeeze some of the big-boy grippers. #4: 2 attempts both about 1/2 inch BBSE: 2 attempts both under 1/2 inch ISG 10,12: 2 attempts both about 1/4 inch MM1dud: 2 attempts both about 1/4 inch MM2dud: closed the first one, credit card on 2nd one Summary: 10 singles, 1 close, 9 misses Notes to self: the #4 and BBSE just suck the life out of my hand, it felt like jello by the time I picked up the ISG 2004#3: closed 2004#3: closed 2004#3: ground it 2004#3: credit card 2004#3: closed 2004#3: closed 2004#3: closed 2004#3: closed 2004#3: closed 2004#3: closed Summary: 10 singles, 9 closes, 1 miss LH 16 attempts all at about 1/4 3 attempts at about 3/8 1 attempt 1/2 TTK 25x5 35x1 35x1 37.5x1 37.5 missed by 1/2 30x3 missed the 4th my thumbs slipped off 30x3 30x4 30x2 25x4 rep out on pony clamp: rhx20 lhx19 After bending that Grade 5 a while ago I thought I'd try a grade 8. jad
7-7-04 #4 negative crush: it pretty much shot out of my hand BBSE: same thing This is RIDICULOUS I must not be recovered from the other night. I'm plenty pissed so I"m going to bend something instead and call it a night. Attempted grade 8: worked on this for 5 minutes using the double overhand and got nowhere Attempted 5/16x8 inch: tried it but it seems too long for the double overhand, hurts my shoulders as soon as I start cranking on it. Grade 5: bent it down to 1.5 inches. The double overhand felt good but it punched through my pads and I kept having to rewrap. Took me about 10 minutes with all the rewrap time. This was pretty much a crap workout but at least I bent another G5.
jad
7-9-04 One of the contractors left his sledge in the garage tonight for the kitchen remodel tommorow. Heh, heh, heh!! 8lb sledge: 2 attempts at levering to front: about 80% up 2 attempts levering to rear: got both of them 2 leverages to the nose finger walked it for two full lengths: this smoked my forearms This is too much fun I have to go buy a sledge. Grippers: warmup: ground #3 #4: about 1/2 BBSE: less than 1/2 ISG: 10,12: 1/4 inch MM1dud: 1/8 MM1dud: 1/4 MM2dud: 1/8 MM2dud: 1/4 2 Negative crushes with ISG on 10,12 probably about 30 seconds per attempt 2 Negative crushes with #4: about 10 seconds another crap crush workout in progress so I decided to bend again Grade 8: put all I had into it for several attempts and got nowhere Grade5: took it down and it was my quickest yet, still nothing to get exicited about with 17 y/o's melting Reds decided to do 1 more negative crush on #4: good decision: held it at 1/4 inch for 20 seconds then it blew open. Not the best workout but I can live with it after the #4 negative
jad
7-14-04 Felt strong and thought I'd do some bending. Grade 8: U'd it...Finally!!!!! Praise the Lord It took me exactly 37 minutes to do it. From a little outside the 45 degree mark is what took me the bulk of the time. I just couldn't get in my groove. It felt like my hands would get in the way. The crushdown was tough too. On previous bends this was just a formality but the G8 just keeps springing right back out. I had to rewrap it 3 times to get it under 2 inches because I would think I had it only to feel it spring back.
jad
Been really busy doing home improvement projects so I've been slacking off but I needed a break because my last couple of workouts sucked. I'm going to try something new to see if I can revive them. The goal is 5 severe negatives/negative crushes with the #4 and 5 closes of the MM2dud. When I can complete this I think I'll be able to close my ridiculous MM1dud on command. If this works the next goal will be closing the ISG on 10,12 on command. I will replace the MM2dud closes with MM1dud.closes After this the MM1dud will be replaced with the ISG on 10,12 with the goal of the BBSE. Then the #4. I have no idea if this will work but that's what this workout log is about, trying new routines. . 5 NC's with the #4: last one wasn't very good, only about parallel 30 minute break to eat lunch with the wife 5 attempts of MM2dud: closed 2 and missed

Thaibox
Nice job on the 8 bro Its definately the crush down that kills you. Have you done one since the 14th? If not I bet you could slam it in no time now.
Clay Edgin
Congrats on the G8. I would have put the bolt down if I didn't kill it after a couple minutes because I would be spent by then! jad
7-24-04 Warmup on ISG RH: 5 NC on #4: the good news was these felt really good and I feel like I'm making progress on them the bad news was I knew the MM2dud closes would be a joke because my hands felt like jello. MM2dud: missed 3 by 1/4 inch decided to move down to the 04#3 04#3: missed by 1/8 twice LH: 10 attempts on #3, 2 around 1/8, 8 around 1/4 TTK 25x5, 30x3, 30x3, 30x3, 35x1, 40x0 missed by 1/8, 25x8 I might need to reevaluate this 5 negatives 5 attempts workout. I like the Negative crushes but when I don't incorporate actual closes I find I just get really good at holding the #4 around 1/2-1/4 from shut and lose my last eighth needed to close the #3 and beyond. I'm going to try it for one more workout and if the closes are still a joke then I"m going to switch it up again.
