Today was the first longbar I bent in almost a year.  The plan was initially to work-on the kink and let it stand for awhile, and then hit some isos, but I passed on that notion due to the rise in steel prices, and not wanting to waste an attempt at a 3/4" bar.  The 48" length was really awkward on the sweep for me, but I stuck with it and was able to take it down in 6-7 minutes.  Definitely feeling bruised and beat after the bend but happy to bend it with the first one back.

Second mid-bar braced session back today, in-preparation for Don's steel bending comp in a few weeks.  Definitely not what I was with the braced, but still fun to get back into this a little.  Seems like my baseline with the mid-bar braced gets a little worse every year and it takes a little longer to get back to the 75-80% range of my best bends ten years ago.

5/8 x 26" HRS - 90 deg.


The HRS I bought and cut to-size is on the harder side, which I can usually get a pretty good idea of how it thigh crushes on the kink.  I took it to 90 deg in about 30 sec. then was having trouble with my towel, with positioning and it falling apart, which ended up making the sweep pretty awkward and unstable.  After messing around with it at this point for several minutes, I called it a session.
