DuTCH
Why you want to be so bad in the open? If it's your first time, it's your first time, and that is still gonna put you in the novice. It's no shame to be in there, hell, you will blast them
jimwylie1
Pete, If you can mash the #3 then you will be in open category. At least that's how it was in my day. Mobster's running the show now though, so he'll advise. Dutch, you have to give Pete credit for wanting to compete to the best of his abilities. I say good on him . bencrush
I think Pete just doesn't want his ability to close a #3 and vbar 300+ to be an unfair advantage in a less experienced class.
DuTCH
True.. I was seeing it a bit black and white..
bencrush
True.. I was seeing it a bit black and white.. You thought he was challenging you to a grip duel, didn't you?

pdfk20
I want to train hard and have a fair shot with the other top guys in the open class, i hope to be at a much higher level as well come May, so i reckon it would be unfair to put me in the Novice class just cos its my first comp. mobsterone
Having now proved i can pull over 300lbs on Vbar and grip at the no.3 standard does this place me in the Open class for the competition? In short - yes. As Jim says when we entered such events, more years ago than we care to mention, it was the same for us. Our standard was high enough for us to be competitive and being in the open made us work harder.

CoC#3
Mob ask big TT to take part. He's got some great natural grip strength (90kg first try at my completely new RT) and it would be a shame for him not to compete.
mobsterone
It's up to him. He has said he will, he knows the competition is on and of course I have posted that several locals are competing.

bencrush
That's looking to be one great competition! Great to see that Chris James is entering it too. Been a while since we've seen any crazy grip stuff from him. Always was one of my favorites though.
David Horne
Yes, I can't wait to see Chris do his stuff. Also hopefully Nick will compete and then it will be a super strong comp. David
