Andy
David, could you post a picture of your adjustable sledgehammer? I'm interested to see how you attach the weights to the handle.
mobsterone
Ok I've just checked my training books.Proir to my comeback my best vbar on lgc bar is; In contest 143.8k both hands in the 2004 Iron Grip In training it was 152k R/H and my 143.8k L/H in contest was my best. Not much buckling under pressure there! Very similar. Ok since August this year I have changed my technique to the Mikael style. Now it is. In training R/H 173k, in fact lifted 163k 12" high, Nick can tell you about this as he was there. L/H 153K. In contest, well who knows? But I think it will be close to the latter figures. Goodbye record!! ← Interesting. I too, in training, tend to nigh on row it up. Esp with the sub-maximal lifts. Myself and Jim were 'rowing' 100-kilo plus lifts at this years IG as a warm up for the bigger comp lifts. Good for the traps.
jimwylie1
Can't wait to try the 'Mikael' style. Hopefully it will help me too . There's a lot of good competitors in this event. I think that there's going to be a more than a few people lifting big numbers.
Mikael Siversson
Ok since August this year I have changed my technique to the Mikael style. ← You have no idea what my style is David. You may be using my old style. I am not using the same style I did two years ago. Anyway, I am happy it is working for you. Yes I remember you pulling your max weight very high in the LGC VII. Thought you tried to clean it.
David Horne
Andy, Here's a pic. http://www.gripboard.com/index.php?act=mod...cmd=si&img=3077 The bar will only protrude 3" from the shaft, on the side you lower to your head. Jim, I think you use the Mikael style already. I was using a completely crap style prior to changing!! David

David Horne
Mikael, There is no place for being fazed in this contest. With the athletes that are going to particapate in this event the winner will have to be on his 'A' game. I am taking nothing for granted, the winner could come from a few. But I am, and will be putting in an immense amount of training for this and am certainly going for #1, as everyone should be. We shall see what gets pulled, but it won't be impossible if there is tries at 180-200k in the vbar! Now it's time to get strong! Mikael Siversson
Mikael,We shall see what gets pulled, but it won't be impossible if there is tries at 180-200k in the vbar! ← 200k in the v-bar. Hmm, let's beat those 163.8k to start with. This WR has been ridiculed for more than a year now and it is still standing. I have no doubt someone will try 200k but that does not mean someone will be anywhere close to pulling that weight. I have seen some very odd weight selections over the years in the LGC. I once saw someone just pulling 125k lefty only to then attempt 150k which, needless to say, stayed glued to the floor.

bencrush
Mobster, you mentioned that you can imagine a 400 pound (and possibly 500 pound) one arm THUMBLESS grip deadlift? I'd like to see that! Especially since I've been told that my 250 was pretty good.
David Horne
250lb is good. It all depends on the spin of the bar, and whether it's an olympic bar or power bar. No records will be kept on this lift because of these large differences. The bar we will use at the 'Champions' spins quick. It's a lovely bar to use for olympic lifts. bencrush
I should have mentioned that absolutely no kidding was intended in my last post. I really WOULD like to see those kinds of poundage on the lift. I just didn't think it was humanly possible is all...
