Yup... I know.... Grip was solid too. It surely wasn't fast, but quicker than I thought I could take it.

I had to scramble to get my dissertation proposal ready last week so I had little time to lift. Got a couple of workouts in (3) but I was so tired for one of my lower-body days that I had to stop mid-workout. 315 on the back squat felt like 500. Anyways, decided to deload last week. Felt good. I came back today, felt strong and ready to go.

Deadlift:

2 x 7 x 135

2 x 5 x 225

315 x 5

365 x 3

405 x 2

500 x 1

540 x 2

550 x 2

560 x 0

500 x 3 (had to stop, tweaked lower left abdominal)

Yoke:

480 x 40

570 x 40

660 x 60

750 x 80

Farmers:

220/hand x 225 ft (straight run)

Glute-Ham Raises:

3 x 12 x BW

Hamstrings felt tired going into deadlift today so I didn't perform all that well. Interestingly, I have dealt with some lower-abdominal issues on my right side for the last 4 years or so. Today, I felt a slight tweak on my left side during my last set of deads. No bulging or anything indicative of a hernia. It actually felt very similar to when I pulled my right lower abdominal a number of years ago, however this was much less severe and didn't seem to bother me on the Yoke, Farmers, or Glute-Ham Raises. Hopefully it heals up quickly.

Had to hustle through the workout because of a professional conference I had to attend. Mike.... got to meet Dr. William Kraemer (most published strength and conditioning researcher in the world) and hear several of his presentations. We went to dinner and had some drinks afterword. We'll have to talk about some of the ideas/topics/concepts he talked about. (Very smart guy).

Haha... Fortunately Kraemer didn't try to sell me anything. He had some unique insight about his research area and how you have to often do research for corporate entities due to the lack of available grant funding available for strength and conditioning research. One of the most interesting things we talked about was how he gets a number of legal requests throughout each year to testify as an expert witness in strength and conditioning malpractice cases.

Like I said she's coming next week too lol JK

I have no problem with that :sorcerer:

Had to call the workout after this.... Lotta work related demands on my plate right now.

Interestingly, my abdominal tweak from two weeks ago bothered me a little during this last weekend's speed deadlift workout and in the recovery period since then. The ab has not bothered me one bit during squats though.

Thanks man. My press used to be quite a bit bigger, but has seemed to take the biggest strength hit when I get away from training for extended periods of time due to other obligations.

Shoulder kind of tight and sore (slept on it wrong or something) so decided to go light on pressing....

Behind the Neck Press:

3 x 5 x 135

Lat-Pulldowns:

3 x 25 x 120

Helped James setup the mother of all Jimmy-Rigs to replicate the car deadlift. It was composed of the prowler, rack pin sleeves, farmer's handles, and the trap bar. Surprisingly it actually worked pretty well. Mike, you should ask James to send you a picture of the setup.

10-22-2011

Yoke:

390 x 60 ft

480 x 60 ft

570 x 60 ft

660 x 80 ft

730 x 80 ft (setup uneven, too far to the right, Yoke slipped off my back at 70 ft, repicked and finished quickly.

kind of wrenched my back on the repick).

820 x 10 ft (too heavy, not used to it and didn't feel like gutting it out).

Had to leave early to get to a wedding.

Back feels fine now, just need to make sure I setup on the Yoke evenly next time.

Very weird training day and surreal weekend in general. James' Yoke and Car-dead both looked good this week. He just needs to taper a little bit over the next 1.5 weeks and he should do well.
