Goals

grippers

short term: coc 3 cert, MM2

medium term: ghp8 cert

long term: coc 3.5 cert

thick bar

Medium term: crushed to dust, lift an inch dumbbell

long term: 405lbs on an axle

pinch

Long term: 235lbs on the flask

Couldn’t think of anything but that would be the record in my weight class so I put it down

Grip

Short term: just be active compete a few times this year

medium term: grab a spot on the top 10 North America list

long term: keep competing and keep improving

Probably more stuff that I can’t think of right now but that’s a start anyways

I have no true grip goals at this point - I managed to do everything I wanted except lift the Inch - and I got it to my knee before having to return it to it's owner.  Now it's just trying to hold on as best I can to all the "standard" feats of grip strength.  My focus at the moment is a return to climbing - on our 27th and 42 anniversary my wife and I climbed Triconi Nail in the Black Hills of South Dakota - we want to do again on our 50th this year - so lots of indoor climbing going on with hang board work etc. I'm not doing much at all of Grip Sport" training. I do sort of test now and then to see where I stand on them - I've lost quite a bit but still seems to be doing OK.  I do seem to be able to come back to close to where I was with some specific training.  Losing more on big muscle lifts than the grip stuff.  Not quite over the hill yet but coming down the other side now.

I will only say one thing to you good sir..

You’re an inspiration for all of us youngsters and older people aswell😊

Much respect to you and your wife❤️

I’m sure your tendons and ligaments are well conditioned by now. Stick low reps. I do 5 working sets a week, 3 reps. About every month I move down an inch on the handle. But starting last week I’m doing double sledge levering. Let’s see how it goes.

Oh alright so fairly heavy then, I’ll take it slowly and see what happens😁

I would say you are pretty impressive in all of them like the way you laid out shirt medium and long I am redoing mine now haha my post was weak two goals on things I can possibly do now. I’ll add in medium and long term and put down the million other things I would love to be able to pull off.

Always an issue for me aswell, I have 1 billion goals I want to achieve.. need to take a deep breath😂

I'm pretty sure I've seen you close a (lighter) standard cobalt, I thought you would be well beyond prepared to cert GHP7. You should have that in no time, I'm surprised you're not certified yet

Last february I managed to close a cobalt 157*4, but my blockset is way below my deepset close. I hope to cert in a couple of months 😁

You got this.

I should also add, staying healthy and injury free, and just getting a little stronger every week. I’m pretty simple.

Another goal is to lift 6 fire brick.

I don't train grip anymore, so I don't know if it counts but I would like to achieve gold nail in doubles, and KOAB

Grippers:

Coc 3 cert

Big goal is to pinch 2x 45's I think it is a cool feat.

Also lift 100 kg on the rolling thunder.  Haven't been training with the rolling thunder lately but I will pick it up in the future.

Plus, the ultimate goal, keep enjoying and loving grip sport!

Love the goals, one of my goals is also 100kg on the rolling thunder but my homemade one with handle and a fat gripz extreme which is thicker than rolling thunder😅

Also how’s gripper training going so far?

What is 6 fire brick?

The whole reason I was ever interested in hand strength was from all the stories of my grandfathers strength. He was jacked. If you search my log theres a couple pictures of him.

My dad and this old time mason whos about 90 now claims my grandfather could stack 6 fire brick  9 in × 4.5 in.... Like the one on the bottom, not the smaller ones on top and lift it like  in my picture below.  In his honor some day i'd like to lift 6 while chugging a Miller High Life.

Try it  it with regular brick see how many you can do. Takes incredible wrist strength.. He'd also lay 12" block all day with one arm. These days its two guys to a block that size.

I mastered the chugging beer portion years ago.. The lifting of the bricks might take another few years.

It is going better slowly but steadily, I notice that a little bit more volume works best for me so that is what I am trying to do! Last october/ november I could ccs close my untrated #3 ( I think it is around 148 RGC) but due to a injury I was not really able to train hard. Now Im back at it and make gains!
