Douglas Carney
York Legacy 115 – Broke Ground 05-12-2024 First time breaking my York Legacy 115 off the ground. It's felt glued to the ground up until today. Feeling optimistic about getting a good lift to lockout in the not too distant future. Think it has helped me to go back to basics and review some things @Jedd Johnson shared on The Grip Authority and his ebook, "Lift the Blob." Musical Inspiration: "Domination" by Pantera from the album "Cowboys from Hell" released in July 1990.
Douglas Carney
York Legacy 105 Blob - More Fun with Magnets 05-12-2024 Another attempt with the 105 and added magnets to help me work up to the heavier Legacy blobs. This time it was two Bare Steel Equipment Micro Stack Weight Pins AND two Bare Steel Equipment Stubby Stack Weight Pins (58.05 lb total). Musical Inspiration: "Walk" by Pantera from the album "Vulgar Display of Power" released in February 1992.

I think the next step for the 105 is flipping it around so my thumb is on the bulging round side. I accidentally did that with the Pre-USA 90 the other day and still got it. But the 105 will be much more of a challenge.

I just don't want my thumb to get too accustomed to a very flat side on the Legacy blobs and then I start having a problem with Pre-USA roundheads.

Douglas Carney
Shot Put and Cannon Ball Lifts 05/15/2024 Mixing it up from the typical half dumbbell lifts by using shot puts and a 28lb cannon ball from Gods of Grip. Musical Inspiration: "The Signal Fire" by Killswitch Engage from the album "Atonement" released in August 2019.
Douglas Carney
Half York 55 Circumference Lift 05/15/2024 Mixing it up from the typical half dumbbell lifts by lifting it from the round side (circumference) rather than pinching across the top or a face picking across the flat side. Musical Inspiration: "Holy Diver" by Killswitch Engage from the Kerrang! compilation "High Voltage - A Brief History Of Rock" released in May 2006.

Grip was fried a bit after thick bar pull, bize, and trize yesterday so the 115 barely broke the ground. Instead of waging war against it, I switched it up and went rounder/wider but a lot lighter (about half the weight). I need to be patient and hold off until Monday night after bench press and krusher work to try the 115 again.

Douglas Carney
New Gear from the Grip Genie Garage Sale and The Grip Show 05-23-2024 This past weekend, Jujimufu had a Grip Genie Garage Sale where I picked up a Mandalorian GG3 gripper (unrated - average RGC 89), Storm Trooper GG4 gripper (unrated - avergae RGC 114), and Darth Vader GG6 (unrated - average RGC 181). I missed the boat when these originally dropped so this was a great second chance for me. And with perfect timing, @ZRMMA from The Grip Show sent me a surprise in the mail--set blocks for my gripper work! They look awesome and will get featured prominently in my grip collection. Everything arrived over the past two days so tonight was my first chance to try it all out. Here was the batting order: • Mandalorian GG3 - Credit Card Set • Storm Trooper GG4 - 20mm Block Set • IronMind Captains of Crush #2 (RGC 93) [lowest ever rated by @Cannon at Cannon PowerWorks] - 38mm Block Set • Mandalorian GG3 - 38mm Block Set • Mandalorian GG3 - 20mm Block Set BONUS FOOTAGE: IronMind Captains of Crush #2 (RGC 93) – Table No Set

Great new grippers, I didn’t even know they have a Star Wars collab. The mixed colour handles are pretty rad

The mixed colour handles are pretty rad Thank you! I can't remember exactly when they first came out. But I recall thinking they were cool at the time. For some reason (probably because it would take away from my blob budget) I didn't bite. Then I got more into collecting and I regretted not getting them when I had the chance. So I couldn't pass them up when I saw this Garage Sale.

Douglas Carney
York Legacy Blobs with Magnets 05-24-2024 Round 1: York Legacy 115 with 2.5 lb Added Round 2: York Legacy 105 with 10 lb Added Multiple tries during each round but none to lockout. At least they both broke the ground a time or two. These combos are comparable to the weight of the York Legacy 125 that is next on my goal list. So still good training to work up to that feat. Musical Inspiration: "Relentless" by Strapping Young Lad from the album "Strapping Young Lad" released in February 2003.
Douglas Carney
York Legacy 105 with 10 lb Added - Full Lift to Lockout 05-27-2024 My stubborn York 100 (Pre-USA) Fat Man Blob broke the ground in an early round - which in itself is an accomplishment because it feels more difficult to lift than my York Legacy 115 due to the slope and width of the sides. So I decided to "Push It" and revisit my "York Legacy Blobs with Magnets" work from Friday. Thankfully this time the York Legacy 105 with 10 lb added went all the way up. Nothing exciting to post about the York Legacy 115 because 5 lb added barely broke the ground. That one will have to wait until the next session... Musical Inspiration: "Push It" by Static-X from the album "Wisconsin Death Trip" released in March 1999.
Douglas Carney
York Legacy 105 - Hold for Time 05-27-2024 Last lift on Memorial Day. Simple objective...hold a York Legacy 105 Blob for as long as possible. No magnets to make it harder. No bracing to make easier. Just me and The Iron. Musical Inspiration: "Soldiers" by Drowning Pool from the album "Full Circle" released in August 2007. NOTE: The video in the background is special in that it features footage from their USO-sponsored visits to Kuwait and Iraq.* * In 2005, Drowning Pool set out on their first USO tour visiting troops serving in Kuwait. Their second USO tour, in 2006, saw them returning to Kuwait as well as performing for troops stationed in Iraq and Germany.
