Strong pull ups man. Go for the one arm pull up would be cool.

Thank you! Will see based on my elbow condition. Because the many years of abuse from heavy pullups, dips and calisthenics (+ a ton of other sports), I have cartilage and bone fragments in my elbows. At least this is what I'm told when it got x-rayed because of an unrelated issue. Usually it doesn't cause too much problem besides the somewhat limited range of motion, but should probably get them removed this year...

2022/03/27 DU bending

Nothing heavy, just trying to figure out which is better: starting the kink at a) high chest level b) low-chest level.
Feels like a) is easier to start, but b) allows me to squeeze/use my lats more, and overall more comfortable.

2x CRS (SS400) , d=6mm|0.236" , length=178mm/7"

U-shaped adjustable parallel gripper (spread is 30.3mm/1.2"), RGC 142
RH 8x1, 5 full closes
LH 8x1, as far as I could, but no closes as entirely expected

Standard Fe parallel choked, RGC 134
RH 5x2, no misses
LH 5x1, only one full close (already tired from the U-shaped gripper singles)

CPW x GG4 RGC 115, 1.5"/38mm (GHP) block set
RH 5x4, missed the last rep 1 time
LH 5x3, missed the last rep 2 times

To be honest I used the block for only the first rep, but I think I opened the gripper enough for every rep.

Wrist ulnar deviation 5x15
Wrist radial deviation 5x15

2022/03/29 reverse bending

The last time I did the holding with my right and the radial deviation/pushing with my left. This time I switched hands.
I also tried to do more ulnar deviation with my forward hand, not just holding during the movement. But I noticed when it's getting heavy I tend to just hold it and bend with my backhand. But I guess that's normal.

CRS (SS400) , d=6mm|0.236", length=165mm/6.5"
CRS (SS400) ,d=6mm|0.236" , length=152mm/6"
CRS (SS400) ,d=6mm|0.236" , length=122mm/4.8"
Stainless (303), d=6mm|0.236" , length=165mm/6.5"

Stainless (303), d=6mm|0.236" , length=160mm/6.3"

3x CRS (SS400) , d=6.35mm|0.25"|1/4 , length=178mm/7"
3x CRS (SS400) , d=6.35mm|0.25"|1/4 , length=165mm/6.5"
Stainless (304) , d=6.35mm|0.25"|1/4 , length=178mm/7"

Drill rod (SK4), d=6.5mm|0.256", length=160mm/6.3" (on the protractor)

Some of them were still pretty off-center, but getting somewhat better.

20220329.jpg

Edit: Did some DU later (besides bending it's only some cardio today anyways) trying to remember everything I noticed at DU bending practice two days ago. I still didn't figure out the "right way" to kink in DU, but once that's done the bar melts (maybe because it's CRS).

2x CRS (SS400) , d=7mm|0.2756" , length=178mm/7"

Both needed two hits. I've got a big skin tear on my right pinky. I feel like DU can be quite hard on the pinkies.

My hands are a sore from bending, but wanted to attempt the CoC#3. Would have been cool to get it in three months 😄.

But as you can see in the video, I couldn't get it; my set is still bad. I tried to use a set somewhere between an MMS and block.

I use my closing hand too much to get into the  "initial" position, and the handle slides down too much. Anyways, it is what it is: have to practice more!

I was a little bit disappointed about the CoC#3 fail earlier today, so I tried a 7.1mm/0.2795" CRS of 178mm/7" DU. If we're strict, it's 0.03mm shy of the 9/32 😄. This is one of the odd sized CRSs here, but pretty useful. In these 10 days, I went through most of the steel I ordered initially, so I bought some new stuff.

Went down fairly easily in one hit, to 95 degrees. I know it's not a big deal, but I'm really enjoying the progression.

I didn't know that the dog leg has to be lower than the other. Also 'touching the ends of the index finger with the thumb' sound like a great clue before the set. Useful video, thank you!

2022/04/01 some DU bending

Here, you can buy drill rods every 0.1mm. The material is called SK4, and it's close to the W-1 rods: it's somewhat high in carbon, so it's pretty hard. After warmup, I tried a 178mm/7" piece of 6.8mm/0.2677" diameter (little bit thicker than 17/64). I swear I think it was a bit harder and took a longer hit than this 7.1mm CRS a few days ago:

Anyway, it went down to about 90 degrees in one hit,  I just didn't expect it to be that stubborn. I didn't do anything else, but will hit the gym later after work.

2022/04/02 grippers

Started with some setting practice with a CPW x GG4 RGC 115, random reps (5-10)

GD Iron Grip 90 Level 5/spread level 1, without extension
RH 5x1 MMS: got 4 fully closed
LH 5x1 MMS: got 3 fully closed
I've never closed this difficulty completely without the extensions before. I know a torsion gripper is different and the handles don't touch with this gripper, but this was certainly promising.

ISG/SILARUKOV-1 replica, choked parallel, springs at 6,11
RH/LH 10x1: got all
I came to the conclusion that using these kind of grippers as they are don't have too much carryover to "normal" grippers (only to NS or TNS maybe). The main reason is not the spring (I improved a lot from the GD Iron 90), but the weird angle of the handles and the inability to set the gripper. It's still a good tool, especially for high reps/conditioning.

But I "modded" the gripper a little bit so I can use it efficiently for "choked" parallel sets (nothing gets choked though 😁); when neither the angle or the setting thing are problems. Obviously it's still not the same as having multiple choked grippers, but now I have one gripper I can use to practice the final crushing movement at virtually any difficulty.

Did some DU bending as well... my wife said I bend too much.

3x Stainless (304) , d=6.35mm|0.25"|1/4 , length=178mm/7"
2x Stainless (304) , d=6.35mm|0.25"|1/4 , length=165mm/6.5"

3x CRS (SS400) , d=7mm|0.2756" , length=178mm/7"
2x CRS (SS400) , d=7mm|0.2756" , length=165mm/6.5"

At my current level, my CNS was pretty tired after this I have to say. I'm starting to feel what's the real war in bending (at least for me): staying in position and pushing it with all my might even if the bar doesn't move immediately. Makes me feel dizzy sometimes.

I practiced how to set the gripper properly based on the videos @DevilErik recommended, and I was able to MMS close the CoC #3. Not sure if it was closed during the whole duration of the hold (I tried to hold it longer than I normally would), but it was closed for sure. Did some other gripper stuff after, mainly practicing setting the gripper, because it's still far from perfect.

2022/04/05 DU bending

2x CRS (SS400) , d=7mm|0.2756" , length=178mm/7"
1x CRS (SS400) , d=7mm|0.2756" , length=152mm/6"

3x CRS (SS400) , d=7.1mm/0.2795" , length=178mm/7"

1x CRS (SS400) , d=7.1mm/0.2795" , length=165mm/6.5"

1x Drill rod (SK4) , d=6.8mm/0.2677" , length=178mm/7"

1x Stainless (304) , d=7mm|0.2756" , length=152mm/6" (on the protractor)

Order was a little bit different. The stainless at this length felt quite hard, it took me a few minutes.

2022/04/06 reverse bending and wrist

My 4th reverse bending session. If I'm being honest, I see very minimal improvement.
I did mainly volume work, and I also tried some really short, 3.9" steel.

3x Stainless (303), d=6mm|0.236" , length=165mm/6.5"
5x CRS (SS400) , d=6.35mm|0.25"|1/4 , length=178mm/7"
2x CRS (SS400) , d=6.35mm|0.25"|1/4 , length=165mm/6.5"
1x CRS (SS400) , d=6.35mm|0.25"|1/4 , length=120mm/4.7"
1x CRS (SS400) , d=6.35mm|0.25"|1/4 , length=100mm/3.9" (picture)

Wrist 7x15 each:
Radial deviation
Ulnar deviation
Supination
Pronation

Nice work! Impressive CoC No. 3 close. I have zero understanding of bending, but mad respect - it looks very difficult. Perhaps I'll get into it one day.

Thank you for your kind words @Jared P! I'm still pretty new to grip, especially bending. There are a few still active benders here at the Gripboard, I'm learning from their videos and logs all the time. You should check out some bending tutorial videos and give it a try, it should be easy to buy "60d nails" in the US. It's a very rewarding activity 🙂

Not grip, but had an awesome pushup workout in my 20kg/44lbs weight vest. I did 23x25, then 1x23 and 1x21. Crazy pump.

To be fair, I used elbow sleeves because I found that sure I can do a little bit more but it really helps with pain. BW was 99.6kg/219.6lbs.

ISG/SILARUKOV-1 replica, choked parallel, springs at 6,11

RH/LH 30x1 with short rests

RH 2 misses, LH 4 misses. Wanted to do a few more sets, but at set 28 I had a skin tear so I settled with 30 sets.

Did 8x5 beltless squats with 165kg/364lb and I think my left hamstring is fully recovered. Went full ATG for a few reps and it felt ok.

Because all of those weighted pushups yesterday, my pecks and shoulders were soo tight I had to grab the bar really wide again. Next time, I should rest for a day, or don't do really high volume pushups before a squat day.

2022/04/08 DU bending

I think DU is going well considering it's been only a few weeks since I started bending, so I gave a try to a 178mm/7" long 7.3mm/0.2874" drill rod (SK4, C is 0.95% so super hard). I tried it 5-6 times in 5 mins, but bent it to only ~22 degrees. So it got away this time. Nevertheless, good workout because I did a few 7mm and 7.1mm CRS as well (no problem with these).

I recorded the first hits because I naively thought maybe I will get it straight away 😅:
