I wish Big Dave would chime in on this thread.

I do think anything is possible with the right amont of training and dedication.

I've seen what Dave can do with a WC and it's just scary.

I wonder what Joe Kinney could have done with a WC back in 1998 before his injury's.

Yes.Sean the cyborg does leg extensions with 500lb.I have seen him do 20 reps with 400.it's real weight...Very strong or EXCELLENT on that machine is 280 or 290#.A very strong bodybuilder type might be lucky to hit 220#.most guys are at around 110lbs.

i beleive the gym i work out at may?be the only one around with a 400# stack on the leg extension?he adds weight.he also stacks out the Nebula hamstring machine for reps.no one else in the gym is even close to any of these weird ass lifts..not josh..no mike Dean -not former NFL'er John Earle -no one.pics are available.

the reason i posted the pic?the pic just shows what would crush most people?,break their legs?,or cause your knee caps to fly off like a well hit golf ball? or could even kill someone?is someone elses work out weight.

possible? grippers are the same.

I "WILL" close it :rock

:bow "GOD IS THE REAL POWER" :bow

There is that 'official captain of crush'that says it will get done :D

but isn't Tommy a genetically gifted human?

Anyway this is what I say YES IT WILL BE CLOSED!!

All you need is someone to dream for it. and it will be done. There is no limit to human strength, maybe now.... but in 10 years you all will be lookin a differnet numbers in anygivin sport.. Except for that nonsense that a 100 yd. run will be ran in like .0005 seconds or whatever.

HOO YAH to Tommy for puttin his neck on the line and sayin this!! it just goes to show that if theres a will theres a way :rock

Ok , call me ignorant, but according to the web page this gripper takes 355#'s to close yet the #4 takes 365# per their website, so I don't understand why the Worldclass couldn't be closed? Any enlightenment ? :blink

Well maybe I'm rading the wrong page but here's where I found the info

Let me know if I have the wrong gripper

Ok , call me ignorant

Ignorant !! :tongue

Make a search through the board with "gripper ratings". That figures (365,280, 195,140 etc.) don't mean anything. It will take some time and you may have to buy/try a few more grippers to admit that, cause it's a bitter pill. But we've all been through that at the beginning ! ;)

POUNDAGES claimed mean nothing. Zip. Nada. The big donut.

I would suggest lurking before posting and also using the search function to do a little homework before making such posts. Thanks.

Sorry if upset you, I was just asking. I realize the companies claims may be off, but I would guess you could use them as a general reference. That was the point.

I voted 'no'. It amazes me that, as of my vote, 28 people say no and 30 people say yes. I don't get it... then again, I also voted that no one would close the #4 this year... Do'h!

I agree, didn't they say the world was flat too, or that we would never reach the moon?

I agree with the sentiment, Steve, but some obstacles can't be overcome no matter how strong our desire to do so.

It would be interesting to find out if anyone here knew a bone specialist of some kind or had information regarding the average pressure required for the metacarpals in the hands to break.

Wouldn't the bones also get stronger with exercise? Thats aslways what I've read and been told, though slower rate the bones have to thicken to compensate for the larger muscle load.

I take it back. Someone will do it for reps. :rolleyes

Yes, but are you then saying that someone who exercises and gets stronger won't break bones? There is a point at which the pressure is too much for the bone to support no matter how strong you are.

Obviously you are pretty passionate about this subject so I will bow out. I didn't mean for you to get so upset. I haven' t purhcase any products from beef builders, so all I had to go on was the posted weight. You obviously have more experience, more equipment, but then again thats why I posed the question, to ask experienced people. Never the less, I could honestly care less if it gets closed at this time. I just want to give my all in what ever goal I have, with out stopping before I start. Regards, and best of luck training. Matt :D

Don't let these guys bully you... if you have an opinion say it. Its hard to believe now that the "yes" side is winning. I still stick to my previous answer... for the people on the no side I can see where you are coming from. But just because you say no doesn't mean it won't happen. Nathan Holle has already closed the 4 and I hardly doubt he will stop there. Or maybe he will?? If I had his hands I would definitely go for the world class... because what else is left for him?? For me there really is no sense of completition when I train. When I reach a goal or make a new PR I try to set new and higher goals. Perhaps Nathan will go for WC. I am just curious what he would do to it now... parallel, maybe??? I think someone has a sig line quoted from Joe Kinney and I think it goes like this "thats why they call it making progress, you gotta make it happen." I couldn't have said it better myself. Nathan trained heavy singles about 7-10 times a day every day. I am now doing the same. With progress comes results.

Has far has bones breaking?? It is a lot of pressure... there is little muscle in your hands and there is always the possibility of a fracture. However, you would think that the number 4 has enough pressure to snap you metacarples like a toothpick.

Anyway, in closing whether the WC will be closed or not who knows, but there is always the possibility. Its not like there is no chance in hell.

Nobody is bullying anyone. People need to start doing their homework that's all. It gets a little tiring. Besdies Tommy who can do anything in the world (he's confident he'll close one), I still stand by what I said. Anyone who's had time in the trenches with some 3's and 4's and a World Class, paid attention to posts on this board, and is a COC would not have voted for a world class to be closed.

You would be doing homework without the textbook by going to these sites. ;)

The textbook is right here. Use search. Peruse past posts. You'll be amazed at the information posted here. Including many posts on variance of grippers.
