bencrush,

I recently did a deadlift of 375# on a two inch thick bar.

This is roughly the Apollon's Axle. I now appreciate this feat of strength, since just dealifting it was a matter for me. But yeah, it's something I'd like to do someday myself (press it overhead).

My ultimate goal above all else is to be the strongest drug free, no equipment deadlifter in the world. I am aiming to be beat Goerners best deadlifts. My deadlift strength has from the beginning been miles away from what I could do on other lifts. At one time my deadlift weight was twice my squat weight.

One of my other long time goals is to close the #4 gripper.

Just a quick list off the top of my head. I'm not close to any of these goals, but their seemingly impossible nature keeps me motivated.

Long term:

Take 500lbs per hand for a 100ft ride in the farmer's walk

Deadlift 1,000...then do it on a 2" bar

Slam shut the #4

Squat and Bench 800

Overhead press at least 600

Lower my 1-mile run time to under 6 minutes

Run in a marathon without walking...and survive

Snatch the Inch

Flip a VW bug (one of the new ones)

Become a professional highland games athlete

Tear 3 combined decks of cards in half.

Pull at least 300 on the Rolling Thunder

Perform feats of hand and lower arm strength that boggle the mind and seem impossible.

Be athletic enough to easily excel in any physical endeavor.

Short term:

Become strong enough to obliterate people on the football field. In two years I will be moving either to Colorado or New Mexico, and I want to walk on the field of a college football team and just blow people the hell up. If I make enough of an impression, I hope to obtain a college scholarship so I can earn my teaching credentials in history and support my family by working as a teacher. The way I see it, my life time plan for stability and support begins in the weight room, and I'm all too happy to sacrifice my body to the Iron Gods.

My grandson is 2 and I'm 55 - my goal is to be able to pick my grandson up over my head.......................... in 30 years. Two good things here - one is I live 30 more years, two is my grandson will probably weight 200# then - pretty good lifting for an 85 year old!!

Pass a blob from hand to hand ( best is 40# hex head)

Close my # 3 COC (about 3/8" to go)

Rolling Thunder 200# (182.5 so far)

Pinch a pair of 45# plates (best is 2 - 35# plates with 10 extra pounds)

Place in the top 5 in my weight and age class in a national Olympic lifting competition - (don't know where I stand now - best total is 160K)

Rock climb at the 5.11 standard now that I'm retired. Currently at 5.10 c or so.

Live long and healthy - and let's throw in Wise.

Whew, some outrageous goals on here! I'd say my legitimet, realistic goals are as follows:

1) Read my bible, pray everyday and grow grow grow (never too old for that)

2) Squat and deadlift 700 (I'm around 600 in both now)

3) The elusive 450lb raw bench (best is 390)

4) Power clean 350 (best is 315)

5) win NASS lw nationals, then graduate to hw (hope to finish 5th this year)

5) close the #3 (can basically close a #2 now)

6) Maintain 4.5 speed in the 40 at 30 years of age (like I said, maintain, no faster)

7) stay around 34/35" in the waist

Pretty simple I geuss. No real goals of grandeur, just things I would like.

Have a great life most importantly, and continue to bring god in my life

Grip:

Definitely close that sumofa bitch #3 then onto the #4

Total 1800 at 198 or 220 class. Don't know at this rate, I'll be w/ the 220 class (no, not getting fat :))

Learning to stop being so critical. Been like that for years, and have recently started to become a lot better about that.

Super health with my girl (future wife), and kids in the near future.

Have a lil linebacker so I he can train westside with me :)

There is so many, but just enjoy life, and enjoy the people around me.

-DL The Inch (was originally going to try for youngest, was up to 225 on my 2.5" bar when I got sick)

-Close the #3

-Lever a 20lb hammer

-Bend a 60P nail

-Sing a full 4 octave scale

-MP 250

-BP 315 (no shirt)

Just as one of those questions. I noticed MP of 200 on a lot of peoples lists. What conditions were these under? Pre-sickness my best MP with a straight bar was 176lbsx3 behind my head to the vertebrae that sticks out and 2x75lbsx10 with dumbells. My best bench at the time was 225lbsx1 so was my shoulder strength disproportionate or am I reading something wrong? (I was 180-185 at the time and my goal was to MP bodyweight on the straight bar)

To the previous poster.. yeah, your bench should be higher with your press numbers. My best press is 60.4 kg x 5 reps and I don't think all were full range.. :dry and I could bench about 235 lbs. Your bench is 225 with a military behind neck of 175 x 3. Are your pecs weak? Not that it is an important muscle you know. In my case I have reasonably strong pecs, ok shoulders but weak triceps. I always feel that I fail a press or bench because of weak tri's. No wonder any kind of upper body push sucks for me.

As for goals I am rapidly close to a 500 lb narrow stance conventional deadlift at 6 feet 81 kg bwght. I think a nice goal would be a 300 kg deadlift (reverse grip ). I would like to close the #3 and something I really want to do is grab the back end of a mid sized (2500 lb) car (no handles just as is) and deadlift the back end. If I achieve a 300 kg dead I don't think the car lift will be a problem. Other goals are squat 500 lbs rock bottom and if I can do that then maybe squat clean 160-170 kg. Of course I'll never be able to jerk it with a 70-80 kg press but hey.

As an added aside I feel that lifting rocks helped my squat. I used to have a problem going deep in the squat but after lifting rocks for a couple months my strength out of rock bottom position has improved significantly and not only that but it feels smoother and easier. If you have squat problems in the hole, why not give rock lifting a try and see what happens.

My ultamite goals:

Win the NASS Nationals for the 225-250# class

Close the #3 crusher

squat 500 for 20 reps

become a master at a martial art

lift all the challenge stones in scottland

throw the 56# weight 16 feet for height

throw the 22# hammer 110 ft

become dominant in the atlas stones

get 10 reps with 315 standing overhead press.

Do this all (with the exception of the martial art) in the next 6 years. I am 34 and I want to accomplish this before I turn 40.

I have some really crazy goals but....these are(somewhat) less crazy.

Be able to clean and push press the heaviest dumbells in 'just about' any gym that I visit....not including the gym i work out at. ;)

Weigh 305lbs and still have a nice big vein running through my bicep, and still have a few in my forearms... and still be able to see top of ab(s) :unsure and still be able to run a comfortable 15 minute 2 mile.(running gets more difficult as i get larger but I still go out for a 'jog' a few times a month and do 'stairs' holding dumbells)

be able to stand up with 500# a side on farmers walk.

18 inch deadlift 1000#

Flat DB press for a few reps a pair of 220#'s

THEN ...do a well rounded strongman contest.

I am looking at some medium term goals.

Bench 400 raw - Squat 600 raw - Deadlift 600-700 raw.

I would like to close the 4.

I'm going to see if I can play with some stones and/or an RT and see if that triggers any goals for later on......

I'm fairly new to the grip game but here are some of my goals

-get certified on the coc#3

_pinch grip 2x45's and deadlift them

_deadlift 400 with a double overhand grip on a '2' inch bar

-farmers walk the inch replica for atleast 25 yards

-wrist curl a 35 or 45 lb plate

-pinch grip the blob

For overall strength here are my goals

-bench press 400 lbs

-squat 550lbs

-military press 275-300lbs

-do 30 pull-ups

-regular deadlift 500lbs

-farmers walk 200lbs for 200 yards

By the way which feat of strength is harder, pinch gripping the blob, or 25 yards farmers walk with the inch replica.

these are my long term goals
