Tom of Iowa2
[Tom, Both Dymek and Pudz would have a chance I'd say - but unless they try of course we will never know. Perhaps you could talk some of your gym colleagues to have a try - they seem game for some "unusual" training??!! LOL How is this for an unusual work out technique? 6 reps at 1800# plus on a VERTICAL leg press.....this was just part of his leg workout..not just for the photo. This specially designed, heavyduty vertical leg press has a capacity(with weights) of 1450lbs including the weight of the sled. The two gentleman weigh a tad over 200#each....he did get deeper than this.. Although i am not a great fan of leg presses(I DO them though-first vertical leg press and then Nebula 35 degree sled AFTER squats and front squats)I DO think this would be an entertaining event in WSM.....the FULL weight of a Ford Escort or soemthing bigger done on a verticla leg press would be specatacular!!! I think though?(no disrespect intended)some of the guys would have to beef up their legs to do it? He once loaded the Nebula up to 2700#........ AND yes he also squats...AFTER he does leg presses. This is the same guy in the RT pic wearing the superman t.
RSW
and though I have seen reference to Paul Anderson performing a bent press- that is a joke- he did side presses which is not in the same county as a bent press. Joe, Isn't the side press the more difficult feat? I assume Saxon couldn't handle anywhere near the poundages Anderson did in the side press. Guest gripmaster316
Considering the weight differences, I would assume so.

Tom of Iowa2
Ahhhhhhhhhh- Power , Love it !!!! Yeah Harlan...to put this leg press in perspective.Josh -who has 1/4 squatted 1600#plus and full squatted-very deep-no wraps and a 4 inch 'workout 'belt OVER 700(both lifts on a squat bar)and has front squatted 420plus thick bar- has 'only' gone up to about 950?1000lbs? on this machine(once) and usually trains with around 700-800 on it.He also might hit about 1300#or 1400# on the Nebula....(which Sean has hit 2700 on)...Soooooo,long story short...1800,on the vertical is a leg breaking load To josh's credit he prioritizes the squat, partial squat and front squat and does ALL the Leg presses AFTER squats. Josh also has a freaky deep range of motion and Sean is NOT flexible in the hips and his quads run into his chest pretty quick. (at a BW of 270lbs I've MAXED out-deliberately-BEFORE squats one day with 850 on the vertical....i've seen very strong(large) college and ex-pro football players get s 'nice'work out-with a set of 8 with about 575lbs-600lbs....its a beast of a machine, not like a 35 degree or 45 degree leg press sled at all) Quick story...josh and his training partner were doing partial squats(1/4)...they had about 1200? on the bar and josh was doing 'Squat ups'from the safety bars(a la Bud Jeffries ) Sean was in street clothes and no belt squatted the weight up...being about 2 1/2"taller than josh meant it was that much range of motion and that much MORE difficult. He thought it was no big deal but told them he's not in to strength training and didn't see how it would make his legs bigger...... Tom of Iowa2
Although this lift is not a maximum its the photo available at this time. just in cas somebody missed it in the 'EQUIPMENT'section of the forum here is a pic of what i believe was josh Biggers 3rd or 4th partial squat work out?8?9?10 weeks ago?? The owner of the gym said his next leg workout he would be attempting 1750#.....sometimes he does fronts before the partials..(he hit the 1600 after doing rock bottom thick bar fronts) so it depends on the sequence of the workout...and that is determined by just how the mood hits him. powerlifters?yes i know its a squat bar so it's different from a straight bar.he is not a powerlifter so i'm not making a comparison.its just a lot of weight.....and a cool photo and to Dr.Strossen if youre tuneing in...a new use for IM loading pins and carabiners! www.webnax.com/ST20497/1475LBparcialsquat.jpg parcial IS spelled wrong but it will get you to the photo.
