He did more than what is quoted most of the time, but it is along the lines of using a gripper about a full level (#2 for the #3) lighter than your goal gripper. Closing it for very strong singles, on-the-minute. For increasing amounts of singles. I never "trained" that way, but I did occasionally test myself with various grippers. Always TNS. Never MMS. No reason behind that really. Just how it ended up working out for that particular test. I thought that if I could TNS close a 155lb GHP7 for a single every minute for an hour that maybe I'd be able to TNS close a normal-ish GHP8. That did not work out for me, but I was very, very close (@ 1mm) on the GHP8 that I had available at that time. It was 177lbs. Those 60 singles got to be very hard. I probably rushed it too much and the closes should've been more dominating than they were. The first 30 or 40 were very strong. Grinding closes on the first 10, at least. Anyway, I've rambled a bit in your training blog, lol. My point was supposed to be that I think it is a valid method of training. Especially the older I get and realize how little things like accumulating volume with an easier gripper can equate to bigger things without the stress and strain of repeated #3 closes. Let me know how this high rep ground work goes!

Thanks man, but I did my high volume ground work about 11 years ago. I certified on the #3 in 2005. And credit it mostly to my high volume (100+ singles) TNS work with my 146lb #3. High volume singles work very, very, very well. For me. And for a few others I know. They have drawbacks, like anything. Pros and cons. Risks and rewards. Low volume singles can also work very, very well. As of yesterday, I finished helping a friend with his gripper training. He has been using my Silvis T-Rex and doing low volume singles with it in his quest to CCS (or TNS) the #3. It took him a while to go from his first CCS #2 close (102lbs RGC) to his first CCS #3 close (149lbs RGC) - about 7 months. The really cool thing is he did it by training (other than warmup grippers) exclusively with the T-Rex adjustable gripper. I'll put more details about it in the Silvis thread, but I've been waiting for his success before putting up my big Silvis review in their section here on the Gripboard. I would've killed to have made the same progress in that amount of time.

Jeff Parker
5/11/16 Deadlifts. Thought I'd post my deadlifts workouts that I recently started. They are terrible but it's good motivation for me to bring them up to what they used to be. No Belt, 1 rep conventional, then 1 rep sumo 305, 325, 345, add belt, 365, 375 sumo only. The last 2 were max efforts so in sitting at a 365 conventional deadlift and a 375 sumo. 325 conventional x 3 325 sumo x

Geralt
Good work, can't do everything at once. I really like the trapbar DL by the way. Lets me load my body with good weights and it doesn't beat me up as much as the conventional DL. Besides that I don't do PL contests. Anyway, it is a very comfortable DL form. Jeff Parker
KapMan, I just started this as I switched to sumo for axle. Felt pretty good. Thanks Geralt. When I was at a gym trap bar deadlifts were the only deadlifts I enjoyed. I just feel like the bar is too far in front of me from my knees sticking out to deadlift comfortably. When I did 18" deadlifts for strongman I actually pulled less because it was still below my knee and the bar was farther away from me to start. 5/12/16 2hp 52mm. 182x6, 187x3, 197x2,2 202x1, 207x1, 212xpartial Blob work 45lb plate hula 12 reps 25lb plate hula 75 reps plus holds
