#3 Cert

Thanks Ben.

That's pretty funny about the excessive weight adding to get into a weight class. I look forward to reading about it when your friend retires from comps.

I should be able to gain weight no problem this week, I play with the kids a lot at work (elementary gym teacher) but this week we have a gymnastic company coming in all week to do gymnastic stations with the kids so I'm pretty much just supervising instead of running and kicking or throwing.

Disappointing King Kong performance, oh well, back to trying to get this cert!

Haven't touched a gripper since July 15th I believe.

Maxed out at 135GHP6 from CCS

8 singles on a 130#2.5 done on the minute each minute

CCS Grippers

130#2.5x4 doubles and then 6 singles done in the minute for 10 minutes

107#2x11

I'm not going to log my crossfit workouts here but I will mention PRs. Hit these today

220 rack jerk

210 clean

205 clean and jerk

I was surprised to get a 210 clean but miss the jerk since I have jerked 220 from the rack but I think I'm not in the same position after the clean. I'll have to work on that.

Closed some grippers at my parents, didn't write anything down or keep a set pattern. Lots of #2 TNS closes and GHP6 1.5" block closes

130#2.5x TNS, CCS, 1.5" BS, 1" BS, 20mm BS all done with no rest between

I was reading the blob cycle thread and thought it would be fun to try something similar with a gripper

Two gripper days but with all the driving and eating and visiting over thanksgiving didn't have time to record them.

Will try to get a focused gripper day in on Thursday

Read through my log today as it's been very frustrating to close my 155#3 from CCS Over a year ago and be worse off now. Contests vacations and injuries have set me back but so has poor training. Good thing I logged everything so I can go back to what was working. I need to start block setting much heavier grippers along with regular CCS training and add some Vulcan work in again. Also go back to my older style of training with much more volume over a longer time period. I've been having so much fun with crossfit style training I've only given grippers 10-20 minutes once or twice a week. Going to put in at least an hour twice a week from now on.

Going to get some blocks made up in 5mm increments from 20 to 50. Going to try to increase my starting width with my 146#3 until I can CCS it. Will also be doing heavy 20mm work and lighter CCS and TNS work, but using the different blocks to get a better gauge on my progress.

At my inlaws in Florida for the next 2 weeks. Brought grippers and ironmind pinch block. No weights but some Dumbbells so I'm using a rope to tie the pinch block to various Dumbbells.

Ironmind pinch

Dragging a 70lb dumbbell

Carrying a 30lb dumbbell

Swinging a 30lb dumbbell

Pretty sore from this. Will see when I get back how much carryover all this odd pinch lifting will have on my max

Nothin like mixing it up every once in a while

I agree Jon, it's good to have a routine but if it gets stagnant mixing it up helps

Kayaked the Weeki Wachee River in Florida. Me, my wife and my daughter in my Sea Eagle 370 3 person inflatable kayak. 5.5 miles with just me paddling. Forearms, shoulders and abs pretty toasted. Lots of fun, did some swimming and rope swings along the way. Saw one manatee in the river. Will try for grip work again Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, whenever I'm not sore anymore

Going to the beach now for swimming body surfing and ocean kayaking! Will try some pinch tonight if we don't get back too late.

Also going to log left hand grippers. Usually I follow the same routine as my right or even skip them and work on pinch or hub. From now on I'm going to do only CCS work left and see what happens.
