I surprised myself on the Rolling Thunder today. As long as I have worked this lift, I've never been able to make any progress. But, my axle has been going up a little lately, so I figured I'd try for a PR today and ended up killing it! Might have been good for 135 the way it came up. I've attempted 130 multiple times in the past and have only been able to break the ground with it. This has been the one lift that I have not been able to progress in, despite my best efforts, so it was great to finally PR on it!

The last few times I tried 155 on the 2-hand pinch, it didn't move. But, today, 145 felt so light, I decided to try it again, and it came up relatively easy ... was even able to pause at the top for a moment. I know 155 isn't much on this, but it's nice to finally get some upward movement in the numbers, after nothing for so long!

I tried the 5 10s pinch again today. Throughout my first several tries, I was getting a little air, but couldn't bring it up. I kept trying and managed to stand up with it. (Got it on video, but knees weren't fully locked out, so it wouldn't pass for the list.) Today was my second-ever close of the #2.5, and it felt solid!

I haven't bent a triangle grade 8 in awhile ... and forgot how nasty they are in single IMPs. My hands were hurting afterwards on the crush, which made me change my position on the Red. This ended up making the Red bend tough, and gave me some nice tears on my knuckles.

Grippers didn't feel super, but I did them after bending. I didn't really come close with the (131lb.) #2.5. I got the 240N to about 5mm, which is the best-ever attempt for me with this gripper. I think fresh, I will close the 240N very soon!

The 2-hand pinch felt OK during the first few reps then I got stopped cold on the 160. My fingers kept slipping ... just couldn't get a good grip on it.

I just missed the 550 at the top. Wore my loose Metal single-ply suit. I definitely need to start working on my lockout with stuff up near (and over) 550, if I am going to have any chance at making a run a 600.

I wasn't even planning on deadlifting today, but was inspired after watching Joseph Greenstein's feat on America's Got Talent. Really cool thing!

I got my new Reebox "powerlifting" shoes today and squatted with them, instead of my old Chucks. The first impression with them is that they are way roomier in the toe box, and if gotten in your normal size, you might have some issues sliding around a little, if you are a wide-stance squatter. Having this problem, I brought my stance in a little, which made the shoes feel a lot more stable. So far, after one workout, they seem OK. Nothing super, but might take some getting used to.

I think I closed the Super Master rated at 126 on my first attempt. Wasn't 100% sure, and if it did touch, it would have been a weak close, so I just chalked it up as a near-miss. If it didn't close, the first attempt was 1mm away, which is still the best I've ever done with a gripper at this level.

I finally got the 126lb. Super Master closed today, and was able to hold it shut for a few seconds. This gripper has eluded me for the past few weeks with getting real close, but just a few mm short several times.

Nice Golden bastard Carl!

Thanks Sean! Always fun to bend one of these in IMPs ... as a change-up from a Red. I bought some brass from FBBC a few months ago, which, overall, is pretty tough. I've been buying brass from them for years, and this batch seems different ... especially on the kink. Most brass I've bent is tough on the crush, but this batch seems more difficult through the entire bend.

I was happy to take down a black grade 8 DU, in single IMPs. Normally, I bend these in BBWs. But, my fingers were destroyed afterwards, which ended up messing some of my planned attempts on other things. I broke ground with the 140 on the Rolling Thunder, but that was it. Grippers felt horrible today. Plus, my fingers were destroyed from the DU, and the set wasn't happening.

I wrapped up one of my 000 mule shoes (purchased on a recommendation from David M. a year-or-so ago). I tried one of them back then and couldn't do anything with it ... maybe a few degrees. So I was happy with the movement today!
