Thanks Mike! Bench is feeling pretty good-

1/28/15 - Wed @ EHOP

Coan week 10

Deadlift

1 x 495

1 x 545

Speed Deadlift

2 x 3 x 365

week 10 was supposed to be 585, but I wanted to make sure I didn't tweak my back this close to the meet. 545 felt fine today. I'll probably open around this weight to play it safe. meet is 1.5 weeks out.

Taking 3 days off before this without doing enough mobility work was a mistake though.

1/30/14 - Fri @ EHOP

Bench

w/ press commands

1 x 320

1 x 350

1 x 370

1 x 375

Just went up to an opening weight.

DB Rev Fly

5 x 15 x 25

Ab Rotation

PVC Bar

w/ weights hanging from bands

2 x 30 x 50

a pantload of stretching

Had Kathy give press commands. Turns out I don't hold the bar motionless at the bottom, so I end up having to pause for ~2s. They say the judge in SD is very strict.

Deadlift

225

Bench

135

Got a chest cold, I like the extra challenge it presents. Lol, there is none, as JDef pointed out, you don't need to breath for 1 rep!

light headed, called it.

Didn't get to the meet, was sick and got an eye infection Friday. Went for a bench PR anyway. Kind of an anti-climatic way to end this training cycle. Onto the next-

Sorry to hear about the meet. The strength is there for 410 (385 x 2). Perhaps it was misgrooved or just a little off.

I bet if you try again you'll get it. Do you not like to sink the bar in at all? Just being really strict I'm guessing.

Which one do you mean..... Sink it in to my chest? Or let it sink right after unracking it?

Just read what you said in Matt's log about sinking it after you take the handoff. Now I know what you mean. I could improve that. I've been able to make that work a few times, but not that often. Sometimes I screw it up and lose my lat and serratus anterior tightness. Thanks for the tip!

In your case, I meant sink into chest. I think you always do a pretty good job not overextending off the rack.

I stopped doing that. I had a reason at the time, but now I'm not really sure why. Got me thinking now, maybe I should try that again.

2/13/15 - Friday @ EHOP

Bench

2 x 320

1 x 370

3 x 320

8 x 325

10 x 225 - paused

Band Pull Aparts

3 x 25

Band External Rotation

Band Curls

Pulldowns - light, high rep

Pushups w/ Scap Shrug

3 x 10

Wanted to hit a heavier bench today, but I could still feel last week's attempted in my shoulders, not fast enough. Did some reps instead.

Got some good tips from the guys at EHOP. They're all wondering how I bench with my wrists back without wrist pain. Well, I don't, I just have beat up wrists. Also Jason noticed I setup too far left on the bench. Might be part of the reason I always have to move the bar to the left before I unrack it.

Looked like you had a little more in there. That's not far off your normal bench. Seems like if you bring the triceps up a little bit your bench will climb pretty fast.

Nice!

Thanks for the advice Mike! After I missed my last raw bench attempt I've been wondering where the weak point was. I'll start adding in some heavy paused board work or rack lockouts.

JESUS CHRIST that is a HUUUGE amount of reps.... holy balls nice work man!!!

I lied, it was only 14 reps! I just can't count, but let's be honest, anything over 3 reps is really just bodybuilding anyway

Someone got a video, skip to 1:18 to see my set.
