Rgc Ratings

i bought my first rated gripper from Matt Cannon a little while ago, and then bought a few more from him.

Recently I had Jedd rate some of my Tetting Grippers an i am so glad i did. Turns out my Tetting Advanced is actually harder then my Super Advanced. [And here i was thinking i was just sooooo bad in crush strength that the Advanced and Super Advanced felt out of my range. Now i just rename this gripper a Tetting "Semi-Advanced" and keep training]

All of these grippers were new except for the CoC#1

Tetting GM Extended Handle 142lbs [Matt]

Tetting SM 127.14688lbs [Jedd]

GHP4 98lbs [Matt]

Tetting 5/8" Advanced 90.140625lbs [Jedd]

Tetting A 83.7875lbs [Jedd]

CoC#1.5 83lbs [Matt]

CoC#1 81.69375lbs [Jedd]

Tetting SA 81.281265lbs [Jedd]

GHP3 75lbs [Matt]

On a side note, after having Jedd lube and rate my old CoC#1 i was finally able to close it. I guess besides filing the handles, just letting your grippers rust is a great way to make them harder!

Rich,

I thought I had made an error in the ratings, but I did not. Those two grippers are indeed strange! The one that should be weaker is stronger. Very weird, but no problem. That is the beauty of getting a rating. You can't just go by what the manufacturer says they will be. Of course you can always go by feel, but when you have that rating, you have something more definite to go by. Definitely a cool couple of grippers. I would hold onto them, because if you bought another one of the same Names, they will most likely be the regular strength and you will have another gripper of another slightly different rating instead of two grippers, say the Advanced, that are nearly identical. One you might be able to close and the next one might be just slightly beyond you and you will have a better progression system ahead of you.

Thanks for allowing me to rate your grippers. Glad to do more for you down the line if you so desire.

Jedd

For what it's worth, I bought a Master from Matt (unrated) that feels more like a super Master. I can rep my coc 2 but cannot budge this Master.

Hey Tom, how did these ratings compare to the ones done previously?

Hey Gary, I was consistently rating the 9 grippers I had rated by cannonpowerworks higher by 2-5lbs. I had one the was rated by Chris Rice and I got the same rating, one that was rated by Rich McClean, I rated 0.75 lbs lighter, one by Jedd rated 2lbs. lighter and two different grippers that were rated by Eric Milfield and Tim Struse that I rated all 2lbs higher. The rest of my grippers were unrated. I know it's not a perfect system, but it's nice to have them all rated now.

I was a bit disappointed with the rating to say the least when I opened it today. I really needed a gripper in the mid 140's, but that's the luck of the draw I guess. Its only 2 pounds heavier than my GHP level 6. :( But on a positive note, its the first Tetting I've ever bought, and I gotta say, its a darn nice gripper. Also the metal tags from CPW are very cool!
